Bio
Special Ed: Eddies Protagonist Biography
The Animation called “Special Ed” Is centered around the stoic protagonist, Eddie. Eddie Is almost a straight-A student, although getting good grades is the least of Eddies worries. After his mother passed away from giving birth, both he and his twin sister Erika resided in Virginia with their father till they moved to Baltimore where they both attend a Baltimore Public School. Outside of school, Eddie is burdened with multiple responsibilities he is not just a student Eddie also helps his Father provide for the household since his father is unemployed. While his father uses his side hustle as a barber to keep them afloat Eddy's part-time jobs as a Tutor and photographer help cover loose ends. When transferring to his new school Eddie realizes he is attending a school with the same toxic impeding school system. Eddie has grown bitter about the prejudices he's experienced in public school and lacks the patience to abide by the system any longer. While Eddie is usually stoic there is a rage in his heart when it comes to his inadequate home and school life.
Moving into Highschool all incoming students were required to take the Highschool Placements test. Unfortunately around that time, Eddie's home life was hectic and it influenced his test results negatively. His scores, attendance, and student performance were evaluated and he was given an IEP (Individualized Education Program). Upon entering high school Eddie was placed in a special education class. From there entering high school Eddie experiences racism, prejudice, inequality, and stereotypes from his teachers and peers. In his Special Education class at his new school, Eddie meets a quirky group of friends he notices just like him they have been given the short end of the stick. From there, Eddie and the group unwittingly rebel against their corrupt school system.

Logline
In a Baltimore high school, a resilient transfer student named Eddie navigates the challenges of a special education class, forging friendships and fighting against systemic injustices to find empowerment and solidarity.
Theme & Concept
The animation, "Special Ed," will immerse the audience in the journey of Eddie and his friends as they navigate the complexities of high school life in Baltimore. The central concept revolves around their fight against the injustices of the school system and their quest for what they deserve. The Short film pilot will introduce the main character and set the stage for him and his journey.
My concept for this theme draws inspiration from my personal experiences as a student, especially in special education programs. The animation aims to expose the systemic injustices and disadvantages that minority students encounter in schools. By portraying these challenges through Eddie's story, the animation seeks to shed light on the resilience and solidarity required to overcome such obstacles, emphasizing the urgent need for reform and equality in education.

Research
- I plan to create a 2D animation, likely using traditional animation techniques. I will research various types and styles of short film animation.
- As I have limited experience in animation, I will explore tips and information to achieve the best possible outcome.
- Adobe Animate appears to be a commonly used application for animation, and I intend to use some tools from adobe as well as Procreate + Dream.

Create
- The animation will use visual storytelling and transitions to convey the narrative effectively.
- Detailed animation will be applied to character interactions and key scenes.
- Strategic use of lighting, colors, and motion will evoke emotions and engage the audience.
- The animation will have a runtime of approximately 2 minutes
Plan
- Initial Phase: Concept development, scriptwriting, and storyboarding.
- Animation Phase:Sequential creation of scenes, transitions, and character movements. I plan to prioritize the illustration of key scenes to capture the film's tone and ambiance.
- Post-production: Once I have generated and collected all the frames, I will focus on editing, sound design, and synchronizing each frame with the music and sound effects.
- Estimated project duration:3-4 months.
Obstacles
- technical Requirements:Access to animation software, computer labs, and necessary equipment.
- Time Management:Efficiently managing time for animation and post-production, balancing and allocating my time.
- Exhibition Space: Securing appropriate spaces for displaying the animation during the exhibition.
Budget
- Given that most of the project work is created online and published digitally, the budget will primarily be used toward advertising and promotion.
- Budget: $80
Promotion
- Promotion will include the distribution of promotional materials such as flyers or posters.
- I will make announcements on all my social media platforms, including Instagram, Tumblr, Adobe, etc.
- A dedicated Vimeo channel will be created to showcase the animation, with my name as the prominent creator in all promotional materials.
