sorry i might be ranting a lot of my TomEd thoughts to you because that ship has me on a chokehold and literally no one is aboard the wagon when the chemistry and relationship has so much room to explore and smart insults to dish out between the two of them or character dissection

ahem so since the diary horcrux contains the part of Riddle’s soul that’s 15 yrs old and its his very first one, imagine if it still attained some of Riddle’s memories after its creation due to its link with the remainder of his soul (until the creation of the ring horcrux) so that part of Riddle’s soul would still remember Ed even after Truth erased his existence from the minds of everyone Ed made contact with.

so years later when ginny got in contact with riddle’s diary not only does she have to deal with the worst manipulative friend/book ever but that book keeps drawing this one pretty boy with long hair tied into a ponytail and if god forbid one of brothers find these sketches she’s going to suffer through there teasing for at least a decade

i just really like Edward unknowingly haunting the narrative and future Slytherin students having to deal with drawings of this one ponytail blond guy in secret floorboards or desks like the person behind these art was either incredibly shy or did it subconsciously and never bothered to erase them (almost like something at the back of his mind telling him not to erase/forget this person despite not remembering who this person is)

or the golden trio (ron, harry, hermione) stumbling upon one of the Slytherin secret dungeons that Riddle had used as an office of sort and amongst his remaining research papers or classwork are doodles of this guy in a high ponytail, sometimes wearing glasses, with the most wicked grin or soft smile on his face, with stacks of alchemy books nearby

i just know with how madly in love/obsessed bellatrix is with Riddle/Voldemort, she’ll probably jinxed anyone he takes a double look that’s longer than a second that all happens to be either a variety or combination of a shorter blond with their hair tied up or golden eyes, or well above average intellect (though they seemed to be up to Riddle’s standards, which isn’t surprising for him, but it leaves a lingering taste on his tongue like there should be someone who’s supposed to fill that gap in his mind that longs for intellectual stimulation, before simply dismissing it as an afterthought for after his conquest)

The fact that there is a portion of Riddle's soul out there that remembers and yearns for Edward. The plotline could be so much different because WOULD they want to be absorbed back into voldermort??? like if they went back to the main body, would all the traces of edward elric be erased completely??? what if they didn't want to find out??? what if these souls became a third player completely??? the love sick tom riddle who still want to find a way to Ed's world, even decades later.........

Also tom doodling edward is so cute omfg. I'm sure he's writing poems about those golden strands under the moonlight as we speak

random TomEd thought but imagine if its set like in those Harry travels to the past to Riddle’s hogwarts days and got himself into Slytherin to spy on future mr. “I am Lord Voldemort” and all he sees is Riddle trying his best to act cool and nonchalantTM while following Edward around like a duckling, spending almost every day after classes in mr elric’s classroom for hours and coming out either looking deep in thought, slightly flustered, irritated or stupidly smug

Harry is pretty sure having a situationship with your professor won’t lead you 1 step closer to world domination but alright, and maybe Truth allowed harry to keep his memories of Ed before sending Ed off back to his world since Harry could be considered an outlier due to his time traveling and now he has to witness and live through the outcome of the worlds worse one-sided break up that 1/2 doesn’t even remember they were a part of now that riddle’s memories of ed are gone

every time I think of TomEd here I'm sad. Ed did so much good but it was undone bc he was sad and so so lonley, he eventually left another lonely boy in his world.

Harry having to go through Tom's 90s romcom era and was like damn why these gays haven't kissed yet. but he's also petty af bc this boy will try to kill him when he was a baby so he deserved to be heartbroken by this gorgeous professor he guess
