A summary of my birthday today.

Btw your magic wizard party was poorly organized and we’re all leaving. The magic fireworks were not spectacular and the homemade potions were not delicious

So I went to a community theater’s 10 minute play festival last night, which is notorious in some circles for having some ridiculous plots for the plays (they are typically written by locals) and occasionally having a “big issue” play. The third play was called “Illegal” and the short description said that it was about a girl seeking an abortion so I’m expecting this to be the “big issue” of the year. It’s set 20 years in the future and is about a teenaged? young girl, a nurse, and a social worker determining if the girl can qualify for an abortion given all of the legislation that has been passed restricting her choices. For context this festival taking place in a small city in the deep South so I was already concerned about how this play was going to be received. And as the it goes on I can see people in the audience shifting uncomfortably and I’m looking around for the nearest exit in case things get worse. 

But then two-thirds through the girl reveals that the father is an alien - like from space. Suddenly everyone is laughing uncomfortably as this has changed from a drama to a comedy satire? And all I can think while watching the last third is - what Storm Area 51 AO3 online community did the middle aged white male author stumble upon to come up with the idea to write this play?
