One of the underrated "it gets better" things about becoming an adult is that your peers really do not police your body/appearance as aggressively in adulthood as they do when you are in middle school or high school, and if they try to, you can often get away with pointing out that they are being weird.
Like in middle school if I had two days' worth of stubble on my legs, someone was likely to point it out and then I'd be expected to cower in shame for Failing At Performing My Gender. In my 20s I rocked full leg hair and when I caught a coworker gossipping about it I was just like "lmaoooo this bitch is mad that my legs are hairy, what a loser, get a life" and everyone took my side.
Obviously we don't live in a perfect world and the amount of body policing that happens to adults is Definitely Not Zero. But for most adults in non-appearance-related professions, it is not high school levels and that's something.
