i was thinking

   about some good dad! enji for the soul, my soul specifically

Endeavor : SHOUTO!!! When you tried to take down a hardened criminal with no supervision, I shrugged it off as some hormonal, split-second decision. It almost got you suspended from U.A High... only for you to make the same mistake AGAIN, this time with an entire GANG of terrorists! Why would you endanger your own life so stupidly?

Todoroki Shouto : I dunno... For the flair, I guess? The drama of it all?

Endeavor : [sigh] Shaping you into my image was a mistake.

Thoughts on Endeavor’s progress . . [MAJOR SPOILERS]

Manga Spoilers, you have been warned.

I usually ignore every image of Endeavor’s redemption being bashed. But I’ll leave this here just for my two cents.

The Todoroki family state in itself reminds me about MY family’s current state. We’re fractured and distant. We stopped talking or visiting after all grandparents passed away.

Grandfather in particular, was a Grade-A asshole. Just like Endeavor. He served in World War 2, and for that I gave him some of my respect. He helped fight an evil, and risked his life, got a wound, retired a hero, and was subjected to things that I can’t even imagine myself going through. But even after all of that he was still an asshole. Constantly antagonistic towards me, my dad, my mother, my uncles and aunts, my cousins, and even Grandma was subject to it. I’d have given anything to have the family mended. I think we’d all be still on talking terms today if Grandfather had chilled out, self reflected, and learn to become a better person, but he never did.

Enji is starting to realise he’s made grave mistakes, and great grievances towards his children, and his wife. And is taking steps to self improving, and giving his family the thing my Grandfather never bothered to do.

I want Enji to go on his road to redemption. It’s going to take work. But in the end the Todoroki family will finally be at peace.

If the Todoroki theory is true. If people think Dabi [someone who has already ruthlessly murdered and burned MANY innocent people and heroes alive] deserves forgiveness. Endeavor should get it as well. Not saying abuse is not as bad as murder, but if Dabi gets a free pass and Endeavor doesn’t I call bullshit.

As someone who has had an Endeavor in their life, I’m glad he’s on the road to changing.

✨Unpopular opinion✨

Look boi, I see a lot of hate going on about Endeavor. People seem to be really angry that he gets a redemption arc. After what he did to his family and blah blah blah.

We all know he was horrible. Seriously, we get it. But you know what most people want from their family? This. This exact redemption.

And I get it, I do. My mom almost died multiple times from her illnesses and you know I always blamed my father for that. For being no support at all, and always making things so much harder. My father cryed when bro was born, at the time he already had a son and he really wanted a daughter. This was very obvious to my bro while growing up. It really messed him up, knowing that he was always in last place for nona (dads mum who took care of my brothers while mum was working) and of course daddy dearest. I used to scream at him for 5 hours straight, telling him how horrible he was. And he never bat an eyelash. Just kept smoking and drinking and spening what little money we had. We got into physical altercations and I begged him to just go away and leave us alone. But he was like a parasite, just taking what little we had. I stopped talking to him for a year while we were still living together. That was hard.

I know a lot of you love animals, so I’ll tell you that he used to kick my cat just to get a reaction from me.

So now that you know a tiny bit of what I lived though I hope you understand that you need to leave Hirikoshi and Enji the fuck alone.

My dad passed away half-a-year ago.

And I was so angry. So angry. I’m still young, my brothers are fairly young. All we ever wanted was for him to tell us that he was sorry. That he understood what he put us through and that he was sorry. That was all. For the little time he had left, all he had to do was be nice. Just so we could be a better family, just a short while. A month would have been enough, if I had a real father for a month I would’ve been happy.

And after all the resentment has passed, and all the lost years accepted as lost, when they are ready to move forward; I’m sure the Todoroki family would love to have a good father and husband (or just peaceful ex) for the second half of their lives.

This is why I absolutely approve of the redemption storyline going for Enji and I hope you understand why other people do as well.
