“Thank you.” In the meantime, Hirano did the last preparations with the tea so it would be finished by the time his younger brother returned.
And, his timing was perfect!
@fuzuisuru continued from x
“ Of course! Let me get a tray, that will make things easier. “
Tumblr media
The younger hurried off, soon returning with a wooden tray. Placing it in one hand, his other carefully lifted a cup from Hirano and settled it down onto the flat surface.

“I suppose some assistance would be great. These teacups are quite heavy.”
“ Do you need some assistance with that? I am more than willing to help. ”

“It is only natural for brothers to give each other a hug at times to remind each other that they are of importance, correct?”
That fact was something he was rather unsure was true or not, not once had he ever desired to recieve or give affection to his other siblings, with the exception of Maeda.
However, they wouldn’t always remain in the Citadel, and Honebami looked rather alone and left out when Namazuo wasn’t around.
“That is the reason why I chose to hug you today.”

Control is difficult with the combined fatigue and injuries he had sustained and it takes much out of him to not say that he wishes to be left alone, but his mind is still in its usual places – it’s counterproductive to dismiss Hirano from his side were the tantou willing to leave the place next to him at all, and there were still answers that remained in the dark that he wished to know. It’s a sign that he is not entirely out of it, but his cry voice and less than presentable form say otherwise.
His parched throat was a minor irritation compared to the rest of his aching body, but it was the quickest to answer to. Uguisumaru shifted over to reach for the now cooled tea but catches his right shoulder in an slight hiss paired with a wince – it’s returning to him that he’s been forced to wield with his left hand at some point after taking a heavy blow to his dominant side, and he remembers saying how handedness didn’t matter if it meant making it out alive.
Barely managing to sit the cup into his worn hands, he takes a short sip first, then a longer gulp of the drink. It’s a favorite of his, and the taste, despite the temperature, is comforting.
“I’ve already rested enough and I will again later. But before I will, tell me what happened, Hirano.”
Tumblr media
“Ah...”
Rested enough? That had to be a lie, possibly to make him feel less worried. It stung to see the cold tea being drunk at its current temperature, it was best enjoyed while it was still hot.
His hands quivered, and Hirano did his upmost best to cover it up by gripping the fabric of his shorts. He did it as vaugly as possible to let it go unnoticed, the worst thing thinkable right now was to become the center of worry. He wasn’t the one who barely got out of the previous battle alive--
“I was not able to observe the details myself, however there was an assault”, he knew, he was there too, he saw it with his very own eyes, “And they went straight for you.”

A pounding headache wakes the warbler up from his rest. It takes a moment for him to collect himself and then slowly, painfully, sit up from the futon to rub his temples. There are bandages on him, and it takes a few more minutes for him to remember. Right. There was an ambush, and while most of the other party members had little trouble dealing with their share of enemies, there was something hazy about the details that Uguisumaru tries putting his mind into recalling. Though there are things he wants to be able to remember, the smell of tea in his room is welcoming compared to the sharp pain and soreness he can feel all around, and there was only one blade he could think of who would bring this blend to him even when he was in such a state.
“Hirano.” The tantou looks as if he’s been sitting there quite some time at his bedside, and there are many questions that runs through Uguisumaru’s mind: What happened on the battlefield? How long have I been out? What of the others? But everything gives way to his throbbing head, and his dry voice speaks something else entirely.
Tumblr media
“How long have you been watching over me? Surely the tea must be cold by now.”
Tumblr media
An attendant had to have patience.
Such words were repeated in his mind, to not lose focus of his task or grow bored and impatient. He firmly told he would take care of the injured Tachi, almost begging on his knees to be allowed to perform such a huge task on his own. He had been offered help, but he denied it. He was too worried to not be aware of how the Tachi was doing...
The tea next to him - which he knew was one of Uguisumaru’s favorites, had been by his side for too long, the flavor had weakened and it was at a room temperature.
His eyes lightened up slightly when he heard the familiar voice - albeit weaker than usual - doing his best to still remain composed, like an attendant should do.
“That is not important now. I’ll brew more tea later- just continue to rest, please.”

Tsurumaru yawned and got up. “I wouldn’t be bothered by no tea since Ugu usually drinks most of it, but no treats… fine, fine. I’ll clean it up.” He proceeded to pick up the trash underneath, consisting mostly of emptied food boxes and packs and some orange peels. “Welp. Lead the way, Hirano.”
Tumblr media
“I am glad that you are cooperating, it is making this task easier.” He felt somewhat proud that Tsurumaru listened and did as asked to instead of other things, and began to lead the way, always checking over his shoulder that the Tachi was following still.

“Weeeelll… if you insists, lets hear it then~” Hirano was always the dedicated one who puts a lot of work into ensuring that things are well for their master, something that Tsurumaru respected, but found hard to empathise with. So he naturally would have a few disagreements with the tantou.
“Master isn’t going to be looking under the table is he? So leaving a ‘bit’ of trash there should be fine.”
Tumblr media
“Go clean it at once or there will be no tea and treats for you later.” He pointed towards the pile that you could easily see from under the table. “You easily pick it up with your hands, then dump it outside in the trash. If you are unaware of the location of the trash, I shall lead you there.”

“Well, it didn’t come with an instruction sheet, so how are we swords suppose to know whats ‘appropriate’ and whats not according to a human’s perspective?”
As far as Tsuru knows, if it isn’t that noticeable, its not too bad. And that is why there is trash left under the table while the area surrounding it was clean.
Tumblr media
“Shall I perhaps teach you how to do it?” He let out a deep sigh, acting almost like a disappointed mother scolding their child. “It is common sense to keep things neat for our master.”

“ mhm, ” in return to the gesture, ichigo hitofuri reached out and rested his hand gently upon the lad’s head in soothing manner. “ i’m assuming you’re heading to meet with maeda-kun? or do you have other plans for today? ”
Tumblr media
With the hand landing atop his head, Hirano couldn’t help but display a lovely little smile. “Affirmative, Maeda-kun and I are going to do field work together today. I promise to take good care of him, like usual.”

“Oh? Your tea has always been among my favorites, Hirano.” Hirano, ever the thoughtful child, he chuckled softly to himself. “Well then. Let’s see how this one tastes.”
Tumblr media
“Really??” He stopped for a moment after hearing the lovely compliment, almost forgetting to serve the tea. However the boy snapped out of it and gently put down the cups.
“I tried to do a blend of cherry and lemon this time around...”
