This is going to be an unpopular opinion but the US doing away with birthright citizenship may not be a bad thing long term.

I can’t help but think well that just goes completely against the grain of the US being a settler colonial state. Without people moving here and being granted citizenship no new settlers will come and potentially the ones that do live here will be more inclined to leave as the soft power of the US declines and they can no longer enjoy the excess comfort they are used to by nature of the US soft (and hard)!power globally.

The US will no longer have settlers to sustain its existence as it is today domestically and further it will no longer have the military members to sustain its existence as it is today globally. It may transform but it will not be the same.

And now that I’ve typed this out I’m like yeah they’re probably just going to make it incredibly easy for white Anglo-saxons to come to the US but even with that the population numbers and population growth just isn’t there.
