I’ve primarily drawn Emmet, Lucy, and Rex cause they’re my top three so I draw them more often than anybody else but wanted to do this poll if anybody wants to see a character in my art style.

I tried to make Emmet’s thricycle in Tears of the Kingdom.

A bit of a better shot of it from the side, I couldn’t steer it but recreating it was successful.

I might be overthinking it but I’m thinking about Rex’s ship.

Specifically the shape. Hear me out,

Okay, so I’m thinking about how it’s a hand. A closed hand, being a fist, but a hand nonetheless. We know that Emmet saw hands, in a vision and later when he’s in reality. He described them as “gross pink sausages, like eagle talons mixed with squid”.

Based on that, LEGO people can see human hands as akin to cosmic horror, considering they only know the claw-shaped hands every minifig has. Though large minifigs will have detailed claw hands, showing fingers mainly and looking more close to a hand. But real human hands can be considered close to cosmic horror to them.

But after Emmet becomes Rex much later, he builds a massive spaceship in the shape of a fist. Pretty much recreating a human hand, perhaps even in a way they can properly perceive?

So, in summary, I think Rex built the ship specifically based on irl human hands, fist specifically. Considering that at the time Emmet, later Rex,was the only character we knew of to have seen actual irl human hands. Of course that detail could be interpreted as foreshadowing to the reveal that Rex was Emmet, though that could also be easily forgotten due the first time we see Rex’s backstory but, ya know.

Decorated my new switch dock so it’s themed for my favorite movies. Mainly keeping to my top four characters.

I just remembered that when Rex explains that he has impaired hearing he gestures at his right ear.

In an earlier post I mentioned about how he has impaired hearing specifically in his right ear due to Undar’s winds, and his left ear isn’t as impaired cause it wasn’t as exposed to the winds due to him laying on his left side. The fact that Rex specifically gestures at his right ear makes the headcannon pretty plausible to me.

Okay! I’ve done a thing showing Rex’s scars so hopefully if I ever draw Rex with his scars showing, so they’re consistent! A lot of yapping under the cut.

(These are with a humanized interpretation rather than a LEGO minifig interpretation)

I’ve given him scars from when he crashed into an asteroid. He was burned in places due to crashing and the impact of hitting the ground in Undar left him paralyzed. I headcannon that he was in there for four years, and spends one year preparing to enact his plan to cause Armamageddeon. Anyway, I keep interpreting Undar being an odd environment, like, even though he physically aged and over the course of four years his burns healed, he was both hungry and thirsty but never to the point of malnourishment or dehydration, despite the dust. Basically Rex somehow survived at an almost critical state despite not eating or drinking at all in four years. Like his internal systems were in stasis. Also, due to being stuck lying on his left side, his right ear was constantly exposed to Undar’s winds. His right ear is impaired and the left ear is only slightly impaired due to the explosion of his crash.

With his shoulder scar, it’s from as he was escaping Undar. The idea being that he was putting physical strain on his body as he broke out of paralysis. As be broke out driven by his own rage, his physical stress tore his shoulder, skin and some of the muscle basically. Before he works on changing his identity, he self-repairs his shoulder and lets it heal while he works out a new identity. The scar looks a bit rough since it was sewn up a bit sloppily due to both exhaustion and anger making his free hand slightly unstable.

The claw marks and bite on his hip are from a velociraptors. Like, to become the leader of the raptor pack he picked up he definitely challenged whatever raptor was the leader. He got a few scratches and was bit on his hip, but won and became to new leader of the pack. From there he trained the raptors how to be a ship crew and picks up on communicating with them.

For the blaster scars, I headcannon that in the year of preparing his plan to cause Armamageddeon, he becomes known as an outlaw. He effectively builds up the persona be built up, being an “80s action space anti-hero”, as he goes and perfects his ship using whatever time related parts he can get his hands on. The blaster scars simply being that he had been shot by blasters during escapes. On his left arm is a graze of one of a shot narrowly missing him.

The few smaller scratches were mainly to fill space but I headcannon medic raptors being on the Rexcelsior and the head medic primarily sees him. She’s good at patching Rex’s injuries from being reckless. The smaller scars can be interpreted as better treated injuries that healed properly.

Okay, now the big one. The Piece of Resistance marking. Now, the few things Rex can’t physically change being his blank type eyes, his cowlicks, and of course, the permanent mark from the Piece of Resistance on his back. I headcannon different eye types with LEGO people, the common “pupil type” eyes, white dot in iris, the bit rarer but originally common “blank type” eyes, and even rarer “colored type” eyes, where they can be “pupil type” or “blank type”, but have a color rather that dark grey. Like current Lloyd from Ninjago for example. Rex probably doesn’t mind the type of eyes he has cause it’s less common. The cowlicks he cannot change as well, he could theoretically cut them down or hide them but he chooses not to. It’s possible he doesn’t mind his cowlicks that much so just leaves them. He absolutely loathes the mark left by the Piece of Resistance. The blank eyes and cowlicks probably don’t matter much since there more on his going on, when back when he was Emmet, they were the parts that stood out, despite Emmet fitting in too well. Rex has a more detailed face, being visibly chiseled, having thicker eyebrows, and facial hair. While Emmet is more simplistic and generic. The Piece of Resistance mark though? It’s the biggest giveaway of who he used to be. Rex hates the mark on his back. He’ll act like it’s not there, if someone does see it, he’ll lie and say something like, “it’s just another scar.” The mark on his back haunts him, maybe even taunts him with the fact that he cannot completely run from the person he used to be.

I do also think that Rex secretly craves affection and comfort. But his ptsd, which the fact the he has abandonment issues and needing to keep himself closed off stem from, keeps him from making a close relationship. I hope to explore this in the au where Rex has a human crew-mate, if I know how to go about it, but at first he keeps her at arm’s length but as they get closer he becomes a bit more open. But he tends to keep a lot of details out, like that he was once a completely different person. He does still later enact his plan to destroy the universe though.
