The Breakdown-"She Is Art Project"
Many have asked me Why Love? Why Women? Why Body Paint and Nudity?
“Charlie! What are you going to with all this content? What is it for? Why is it important?”
My intention is to tell my story through your stories in hopes of planting seeds of light, love, and self empowerment in our communities and social media platforms because there’s someone out there looking for a sign to keep going.
Love within my culture and the communities I’ve lived in always seemed to be so possessive. I remember thinking to myself as young a girl how weak women seemed within love, relationships and marriage. The men always seem to have the last word and the money and if you had the money you had power/respect. Growing up in a single mom household (my mom did everything) the last thing I wanted to do was depend on a “MAN”. I decided then that I wanted to THINK like a “MAN”, I wanted to be STRONG like a “MAN”, I wanted to be “SUCCESSFUL” like a “MAN” but I could not comprehend how men LOVE. I prided myself in having the ability to disregard my emotions because that’s what the men around me were doing. When I cried I remember feeling ashamed because to cry was a sign of weakness where we came from it didn’t matter whether you were a man or a woman. I was slowly losing the essence of what it meant to be a WOMAN.
“Love is what we are born with. Fear is what we have learned here. The spiritual journey is the unlearning of fear and the acceptance of love back into our hearts.”-Unknown
Love within relationships, friends and family overwhelmed me and I had finally reached my limit of self sabotage. I decided that it was time to rebuild myself. I was determined to find strength in my vulnerability.Yes, there is strength in VULNERABILITY. Pain was my fuel because I refused to let pain make me a victim.I did not know how to ask for help without hurting the ones I loved the most as a result art became my refuge. This was how the “She is Art Project” was born, a mini interview series of women.
“How do you define love?” that was the first question I asked the women during the “She is Art Project” at the time I wouldn't have been able to give you a straight answer but today I say,
“Love is unconditional and it requires us to grow. We only suffer when we refuse to accept the changes that come with growth.”
I was searching for the women who kept their own identity even while in a relationship.I was searching for the women who were unapologetic about who they truly are. They were all my muses and I didn’t know if that was OK or if that was WEIRD but what I did know was that their presence in my art studio cultivated a potent desire to create. The muse became my canvas their energy became my paint. Their nudity represents their vulnerability and transparency. What was most inspiring to me throughout the process was watching the women identify with their resilience as they told their stories; not only were they empowering me but they were empowering themselves as well.
I realized then that I had more questions and layers to uncover but that I also had to forgive myself in the process as I discovered parts of me that I had surpressed. I wanted to know how women can be so many things and be loved for all of it because in my culture and community if you embraced your power as a woman you were intimidating to the men and some women frowned upon you for exposing your strength. Stay tuned as I continue to create art with layers the I discover.

Under Construction
You can find the stories under the "Video Series" on the menu bar; where I ask questions to deconstruct and redefine some of the words that I’ve had to reconstruct for myself. Some of those words are listed below:
Relationship
Failure
Man
Woman
Mother
Father
Family
Friend
Love
Ego
Forgiveness
Freedom
Change
Growth
Knowledge
Success
Sexy
Worthy
Spiritual
God
Religion
Energy
Frequency
Vibration
Connection
Understanding what truly resonates with my soul and allowing my intuition to guide me without hesitation in order to speak my truth and be aligned with it has been one of the most freeing experiences through these words. I hope that you too are willing to speak your truth, redefine yourself and share it. If you wish to do so personally email me or book a paint session I would love to explore you.

The Experience Magazine
I was honored when I was asked to be apart of the The Experience Magazine Summer Issue on Mental Illness along with other amazing artist who had their own stories to tell. With all the natural disasters that are occurring world wide and the energy shifting at an all time high I want you to know that you are not alone and I ask that you make the effort and reach out to someone if you feel that you can not handle it on your own. I suggest yoga, meditation or simply praying anything that helps you be intuned with your true self. I've attached some links below that may help with meditation, yoga or medical help as well as a book if your more of a self help kind of person. We have to try our best to keep hope and send love and strength to those who need it the most. Energy is powerful let's learn how to hone it and use it during these difficult times. My story in this summer issue is not one that I usually share. The magazine is available at TheExperienceMag.com along with the stories of other amazing artist who have suffered from mental illness.
A very special thank you to everyone who made the magazine possible. A massive thank you to Jay Stone for staying true to his vision.
