Originally I imagined Rafayel becoming more attached to his "human" surname (in my fic, Grimaldi) after he marries Vanderberg and she takes it. Even if it isn't really "his" name, it is a deliberate tie to him.

Thinking about the importance he places on names ("All forms of life have the same beginning, but their names make them special." - Floral Promise) and being unique ("There is nothing more important than being unique in this world." - Homescreen Dialogue), maybe the opposite is true.

Vanderberg has viewed herself as "the Marionettist" ever since the Chronorift Catastrophe. The child she was died that night and "Vanderberg" became a mask. However, being a vigilante wears on her. The stalking, the lying the killing... It's all wrong and she refuses deny it, but it's what she does to ensure those that might escape the law do not escape justice for their crimes.

Her friendship with Rafayel, though it started as a ruse, requires her to play the role of Vanderberg far more than anyone else has. But his perceptiveness causes the mask to crack. She is forced to dive closer to the heart of who she is than she has ever been, yet to her Vanderberg cannot exist without the Marionettist

When she takes the name Grimaldi, she is breaking herself free from the prison of her double life and focusing on creating one she wants to live. So maybe to Rafayel his wife isn't taking his name, she is finding her own and he just borrows it from time to time when he needs to open a bank account.

As far as I'm concerned, the blanket Rafayel has in "Daybreak's Touch" was gifted to him as part of Zeldan's attempts to get him and Kitty Vanderberg together. She hoped that looking at it would keep Kitty on his brain even when he is off on his trips. Entirely unnecessary.

I think it would be hilarious if MC and Rafayel were evenly matched in arm wrestling, to the point that it becomes a game of who can cheat better that round.

The first one to cheat was, surprisingly, not Rafayel. Realizing they were in a stalemate, MC spontaneously leaned forward and kissed his hand. Catching him off guard, she was able to quickly slam his arm into the table before he recovered.

Ahhhh Galadriel is FINISHED!!

It’s been over a year since I got my first fabric sample for this costume, and now after months of practise and very intense detail work, I was able to put everything on! I am insanely proud of this cosplay and I truly believe it’s the best thing I’ve ever made!

I’ll be making many more posts about the costume and the process (I still have to catch up on video logs for the build!) but for now please enjoy this transition and a peek at the location shoot we just did!

Watching "Tipsy Invitation" and realizing that I have the perfect opportunity to do something cruel to Rafayel by setting his question during the time when Vanderberg is beginning to see him as more than a target. She starts to give him the answer he wants to hear, but realizes halfway through that she is being honest.

Feeling guilty at the thought of encouraging his feelings for her when her betrayal is inevitable, she stops—letting him think she was teasing him by getting his hopes up. Something that cuts Rafayel deeper than if she had simply changed the subject.

The Hewn Lemurian Script

Being thoroughly lazy and not wanting to work with curves or create a thousand ligatures, I've decided that Lemurian has a secondary writing system. Hewn Lemurian is a condensed alphabet that is not formally taught, but is wildly used among the working-class. The angular script makes it ideal for chiselling into stone or wood. Like classical Lemurian it is written from top-to-bottom and consonants take different forms depending on whether they occur before or after the vowels.

The characters shown read ja-fa, which have no meaning and simply serve to showcase what has been created so far. Characters may be flipped vertically to improve the appearance of the text.

Proposed Lemurian insult for fic writers: "bone-eater".

Bone-eaters are a type of deep sea worm. They secrete acid to devour whale bones and their biology offers plenty of opportunity for insults.
