I chose the  NESARC study and after going through the code book, I found my interest piqued by drug abuse/dependence. I have not fully decided on which variables I will make use of with regards to Drug abuse (such as age of onset use ,duration), i have therefore decided to include all variables for now.

While researching drug abuse, I have been able to streamline my interests to focus on the factors that influence drug abuse (i.e causation).  I also noticed that a lot of drug abusers/dependents have a history of drug abuse within the family.

I have decided to include in my codebook, variables that showcase the association between nuclear family history of drug abuse/dependence and drug  use in persons.(relationship and number of family members).

i obtained the following hypothesis from the literature examined : (1) There is a causal relationship between drug abuse/ dependence and family history of drug abuse; (2) Family history of drug abuse promotes early onset use of drugs.
