Pain Away

Pain Away is the latest release by rapper Meek Mill, and it is the second song on his latest album. This song features Lil Durk who is a fellow rapper. The song touches on the subject of the rappers wanting the pain they have been through taken away. And how maybe one way they can do this is by making money, and Meek Mill raps about how he hopes the money can take the pain away. He hopes this to the point where he buys materialistic items, but at the same time he is trying to save his money just in case times become harder. The song starts off with Meek Mill’s verse, and he raps about his past, and what he had to do to eat and make money. He also about how people can keep coming after him, because he will just brush it off because he can’t die just yet. He follows his verse by the chorus he raps about how he hopes the money that he makes will take the pain away, and he also raps about how buying diamonds boost his confidence. He also tells the fans and people not to judge his actions, because they do not know what he was up against. After the chorus rapper Lil Durk delivers his verse. He also raps about the things he had to do when he was in the streets, and he raps about how his close friend died. He is most likely referencing rapper King Von who died this month due to being shot. The title of the song also references the late rapper, because Lil Durk has lost so many friends and relatives, and he is just hoping that making money, and saving it will take the pain away that all those tragedies have caused. Many people can relate to Lil Durk’s situation because they have lost people, or someone they care about and they look for outlets than can help them deal with the pain or take it away momentarily. Lil Durk finishes his verse by rapping about how he doesn’t want his daughter to experience the same thing men that he has with different women. Meek finishes the song out with the chorus again after Lil Durk’s verse. The beat of this song is not like many beats we have heard today, it sounds very ominous. It does not utilize and instrument in the background as much as other rap songs due, but it uses the bases of the songs to create the very somber mood that fits the subject matter perfectly. Lil Durk and Meek Mill choose perfect flows for this beat, and they convey pain in their voice which makes the song that much better and more heart felt.

Way More
Way More is the nineteenth song from rapper Lil Durk’s studio album Signed to the Streets Three. This song addresses him issues with the mother of his child, and his friends who have changed since he became famous. The chorus is about how the people who he put trust in changed because of the money they would start making because of Lil Durk’s prosperous rap career, and he addresses how people will try to turn against the ones you care about. From the chorus he leads into the first verse seamlessly, and with very little effort. The first verse is about Lil Durk coming from one of the worst places of Chicago, and he tells about what they would do. One thing he says is that they would shoot the person, the follow the ambulance to make sure the person is actually dead. This will shock a lot of people, because most of the time people will get shot and the person who shot them will run, but Lil Durk and his friends would actually follow the emergency vehicle to make sure the person was actually deceased. This shows how bad the area was, and opens a lot of peoples eyes to how bad it was. After this he raps about how his friend lost his grandma, and this would make Lil Durk call his grandma way more than he used, which is where the song would get its name from. He also raps about how his friend would change his life, so he has to try his hardest to change his fans’ lives. This allows the fans to connect with him much more. In the second verse he mainly addresses the mother of his child. He tells how he would take her out of the less expensive clothes she was in when they met, and he would introduce her to a more lavish life style. He also says how he loved her to death, and remembers how they would eat at fast food places before he would make it off rapping. This record is one of Lil Durk’s best and shows what he is really capable of and how he can open up when he wants to. The beat is made up of a piano, that really makes the listener feel very emotional which makes the track that much better. Lil Durk flows very smoothly on the track, and he makes it seem like it took no effort. He carries the perfect melody out the song, and he still gets across the message he wants to convey. This is one of his best tracks, and is a stand out on the album.

Pain and Problems
hegirls

Pain and Problems is one of rapper Toosii’s latest releases. He released this 2 months after his album, and it has gained over 2.3 million views in 2 weeks. This track is very heartfelt and you can feel what he is talking about, and tell it is true. In the track he raps about multiple topics, and how people doubted him, but he is rich now and he doesn’t need anybody. He opens the song with the first two lines in the chorus, “Wake up on the road got to let the windows down. Who I talk to about my pain and my problems? I ain’t the same but I’m trying, they wanna see me in tux with my eyes closed.” The opening to this chorus sets the perfect tone for the song, and lets you know that he is going to be open on this track, and talk about what is troubling him. He addresses how he doesn’t really have someone to talk to when it comes to his pain and problems. This can relate to a lot of people, because many people feel this way, like they go through so much but they have no one to talk to so they keep it all inside. He also says he is not the same but he is trying, which also relates to his pain and what he is feeling. He is saying that he is so damaged that it has changed him, but he is still trying to remain the same through it all. He also says that there are people who wants to see him in a tux with his eyes closed, which implies that there are people who would rather see him dead, than alive and becoming successful. This is a problem that a lot a rappers suffer from because there are so many people who would rather see them dead, than doing better or being in a better situation than the next person. In the first verse he raps about how his girlfriend left and now she is most likely regretting that decision, and how girls will mess with anybody they want to, and to stop them their mom should’ve raised them better. In the second verse he raps about how people have doubted him, but he proved them wrong and he will not stop what has made him successful. Overall this is a great single for Toosii, and shows that he is getting better every time he releases a new song. Whether it is flow or the words he choose when rapping. He is becoming a better with every song, and is allowing his fans to see what he really goes through. I am excited to see what more Toosii has to offer.

D.T.B(Interlude)

A boogie is an artist out of New York, he was introduced to the hip hop world in 2016 with his first album Artist. From there he would see major success, and be one of the top artist especially out of New York. He would take up a melodic style which was new at the time, and he would show why it was so infectious. He would do it very well, and with a very smooth flow. He would glide across beats and make the smoothest songs, that you could sit back and when you listened made you feel since of nirvana. But, on his first album there is a standout song, D.T.B. (Interlude). This song touches on a topic that many people can relate to, because everyone has most likely had someone that has broken their trust in a relationship. Many people can connect with A boogie when he sings on this track, and you can even hear the pain on his voice. He touches on topics like how the women he is with expects him to fall in love, but doesn’t understand that he can’t because he doesn’t trust women, so when he is around them he feels uncomfortable. This is the reason for the songs titile, and acronym. D.T.B. means don’t trust b*tches. The song revolves around this topic, and he speaks on it through out the song. He mostly talking about this one girl, and how what she did to him was horrible and something know one should ever do. So, now he does not trust women anymore, and he just wants to mess with them for a certain amount of time then get them out of his life. Through out the song he also speaks about the man who she cheated on him with, and how she had a kid and he was happy it was not his. He speaks on how he loves money because it never betrayed him, unlike the women in his life. Many people can relate to this, because a lot men have been lied to by women to the point where it breaks there trust and makes them not care about women like they used. It makes them become heartless because they don’t want to feel that way again. A boogie voices all of this through a smooth flow, which backed by a beat that sounds like it was made in the 90s. It is the perfect combination, because the beat allows A boogie to have pauses, so he can really let his audience think about what he is saying. Overall this is a great track, and while it can be disrespectful to women by how he is calling them out there name, it can still connect with a lot of people and say what they are feeling so they don’t have to talk about it.

Selfish

Selfish is the last song on Rapper Kid Laroi first studio album. He is a sixteen year old that was taken in by the late rapper Juice Wrld. He mentored him, and Kid Laroi is supposed to start where Juice Wrld left off. A lot people think he can do it, but he has very large shoes to fill. Juice Wrld has done so much in very little time, and people hope the Kid Laroi can do the same if not better. His first album F*ck Love is a good start, and good album for his first one. He sings in a way similar juice, and uses the same emotional tone to sing on tracks that talk about his various problems with females and how they have done the wrong. This has made him not want love, so he treats females like they treated him. This is where selfish get its name from. The song is about a girl who did him wrong, so now because of the pain she brought him he is going to be selfish and do girls just like how she did him. The first few lines in the song shows this, and he is talking to the girl. He states “ I hope you know what you did to me. I’m grateful for what you did for me. You showed me that you ain’t sh*t, and these b*itches are dangerous now I do just how you did to me. I know you see the pain in my eyes, every secret and lie, got a reason to cry before I sleep at night. I need my peace of mind, I see that your fine but I’m far from that.” These first few lines show he has been hurt by this relationship and how the girl just played him. This has turned him into a person who does not want a girlfriend, but someone who lies and plays with girls hurts. The lines follow this says how she made it a habit to break his hurt, so he will be savage, and will be selfish. He also says how no one cans help or stop him from being selfish, because of what she has done. Later in the song he also sings how he tells girls he loves them, and he knows he is lying, but he moves onto the next one and does the same. This song shows that he is broken from what these girls have done to him, so much so that he now has trust issues and just plays them, so he can basically do them how they did him. This can connect with a lot of teenagers, as many of them feel like this, and have done this because they don’t want their heart broken anymore, or they don’t want to feel that way again. The Kid Laroi had the ability to connect with the younger generation, and say the things that they feel but can’t say, don’t know how to, or don’t want to. This is one major reason while he will be sucessful, and popular for some time to come.

The Kid Laroi

Not Fair is a song written by The Kid Laroi, who is an upcoming seventeen year old rapper from Australia. He was mentored by the late Juice Wrld, and he signed to the same record label. He is very similar to Juice Wrld, as he perfectly combines signing and rapping to create something very unique. He also uses so much emotion in his songs, just like Juice Wrld, but he does not talk about drug abuse as much. While Juice talks about using drugs and many other substances to help deal with his problems, that are brought upon him by heartbreak, dead loved ones, and many things that go on through out. Laroi raps about problems with females, and how he is learning from what they have done to him. While the lessons he has learned may be turning him heartless, he also talks about how he is realizing that there are more important things that females. In realizing this he stays focus on bettering himself, and making money because he says how if the money leaves him the girls will not be around. He also raps about wanting females to lie to him even though he know its not true, because maybe in someway it will help him feel love, but he is still lost while going through his journey as a young kid. Laroi is like juice for teenagers and he touches on many problems that teenagers go through. Many teenagers are trying to find love at such a young age, and this can often be bad. It causes them to have emotional issues and feel like they are not good enough, or it can cause them to become heartless from the way somebody treated them. This often turn them into people that play others, and often cheat in relationships because they have been done wrong and they can not go through what they went through again. The Kid Laroi is a perfect example of this, because he has been done wrong by some many females who he has opened up to and gave a chance to. So, now he lies to them, and has trust issues. He puts all of this in his music, and his ability to tell how he has been heart broken, and is giving up on love but at the same time still trying to find it, is how his music connect with so many teenagers, and even adults. But, he does say how he beginning to not want love and just be by himself while just going from female to female playing them. This is why his album is called F*ck Love, and in it he shows all of these things I talked about above. He is saying what so many teenagers are feeling but can not say themselves. His music acts like an outlet, and this is why he is so successful while being so young because he can do this, which many hip hop artist can not. I am excited to see what this young artist will do in the future, and to see what he can offer to the hip hop world as he grows and matures.

Truth be Told

Truth Be Told is the third track off a rapper Toosii’s first studio album. Toosii is an upcoming rapper from North Carolina, he moved from Syracuse. This is song that would put him on the map, and let world know what he has to offer, and after this he would make his name known and he his steadily rising and seen as a bright new talent in the rap game. He is known for making heart felt songs, that show emotion and what he is feeling at the time. He is brutally honest, and does not try to sugar coat anything in his music. He is often told by many people that he makes to many love songs, but he does not take it to heart because he said that love songs are what made people love him. His flow his also what allowed his to rise to fame, because it is so unique. He finds a way to make it so much, but still have pauses and changes throughout every verse in songs. He has mastered how change his tone when saying certain lines, which makes his songs that much more emotional and entertaining. Because, it makes it seem like it he is actually meaning what he says. Truth Be Told is a perfect example of why Toosii is one the rise to becoming a big name in the hip hop world. The songs gets its name because he is letting you into his world and telling the truth about how he feels and what you have heard about him from others. His also telling you about things that have happened in his life that you may not no about. The first line of the song is a perfect example of this, it states “Lord knows I want that audemar, but I ain’t rich yet.” This is a line many rappers would never put in their songs. They want to give the image of being rich enough to afford anything, even if they are upcoming bright talent and everyone knows there is somethings they can not buy as of that moment because they are just starting there career. But, Toosii says this, and he makes it the first line of this song which says something. This line is so impactful, because an audemar can cost anywhere from 50,000 to 70,000 dollars and is usually the first watch rappers will get when they have signed there first deal and made their first few millions. It is a staple in the hip hop world, and Toosii takes this and puts a spin on it, instead of glorifying that he has it, he says how he doesn’t because he rich yet, which is a huge statement to make. He also follows this up by saying “ Gotta new crib did that, gotta new car did. Two times so I can’t sit back, and I’ll ****** is a ***** blam me and I ain’t see my kids kids yet.” These two lines are a major statements, because Toosii is showing how far he came, and is telling what he will not let happen before he is done with his life. Toosii is talking about his accomplishments and what he is going to do, but instead of shoving in it in people’s faces he says it in a way that would even make his audience feel motivated. This is why Toosii is such a bright talent because of what he says and how he says it. The beat he uses is also perfect for the topics he is addressing, because he uses a sample that is so emotional and heart wrenching. Toosii is a bright talent and I look foward to what he is going to do in the future.

Deep Wounds

Deep Wounds is a stand out track on rapper Polo G’s first studio album, Die a Legend. This track is one of his most heart felt, and emotional tracks. He touches on topics like his heart being broken, people being killed, and losing people that were very close to him. This is where the song gets its name from, because of the topics he is touching on. He is trying to say that they have left deep wounds, and have hurt him in such a way that they may take a long time to heal or may not heal at all. This songs instrumental is very different than his other songs. He usually uses a just a piano as the melody for the beat, but here he uses a piano and flute which makes the song that much more touching. He also uses softer base drops, that feel very full when the come in through the beat, which is different than many other hip hop songs because they usually have base that is very loud. This makes the song that much more emotional, and heart felt. He also uses a flow that is very smooth, but rigid at the same time. He does this to make you listen to what he is saying, as he has extended pauses between each line in the song. Polo G also sings in a higher pitch than he does in his other songs, which is the main part why this song holds the emotional weight that it does. The first line in the song is “I’ve been scarred by your love, left my hear bleedin’“. This first just lets you know that this song in about to be emotional, and from there he just opens up and tells about his life. He tells how he dealt with many demons when he was younger, and how he lost his uncle. He touches on topics like his friends getting killed in the same place where he used to play, which is a great contrast because he showing that where comes from, fun can only last so long because of the chaos that goes on everyday. Polo G also touches on topics like drug abuse, and how he had to take many pills to deal with the pain the things in his life caused him. These topics show that this is not just another song, but he has actually put time and effort into this, which is great because many songs in the rap genre today do not have a lot of meaning. This is one of Polo G’s best songs, and it could even be in his top five, because of the subjects he touches on, and he smoothly just flows across the beat. His flow along with this beat seems like they were meant for each other, which is why the song is so good and one of his best. This song shows that he has so much potential, and for this to be such a good song, and the fact that it is on his first album shows his talent. I hope that more tracks like this a going to come in the future, and I am excited to see what else he has to offer.

Used To

J.I is a rapper on the rise from New York. He is a melodic rapper, which means he merges singing and rapping together to create something very special. He raps in a higher key than most rappers, so his voice sounds more smooth and cleaner than most rappers. It sounds like he is doing it effortlessly and naturally which makes his music that much better. His as about 20 songs out. He raps about things from his past, girls who have done him wrong, why he doesn’t trust girls, and why he is not the one you want to test. His songs a very relatable and allow him to make a human connection, which is most likely why is so popular and will continue to gain in popularity. A standout song of his is Used To. In this song he raps about a girl who did him wrong. While he was opening up to her, and trying to change she acted heartless and treated him like he was nothing. He raps about what they had was special and she will not have that with her next, and he can not treat him how he treats her. He raps about how because of her, doesn’t want love any more, and he will not open up. This makes the song so emotional and so much more relatable because a lot of people have went through what he is addressing. Many people have been hurt by someone, and this causes them to not open up anymore and be closed off. It doesn’t have to be in a relationship, it can just be a friend or a female being hurt by a male or vise versa. But, this still makes it so much more relatable because if someone broke your trust or treated you worse than you ever thought about treating them you can relate to this song. This is what makes this song a standout because it talks about something that is so emotional and what a lot of people have felt. He is saying what people are feeling so they don’t have to say it themselves. You feel every word of this song, and the beat helps even more with this. He uses a sample which sounds so emotional and like someone is singing there heart out, backed up by a beat that is very open and does just what it needs to do. This adds to the song so well. This is why this song is so good, and is probably one of his best, if not his best. It talks about something so real, and his flow is so smooth and effortless, along with his tone which as to the song as well. I am excited to see what else he has to offer, and I hope this is just the beginning. Because if it is, he is going to be popular throughout rap and all over the world very soon.

In the Air

This is the 16th track off of Torey Lanez new album Daystar. This is one of the standouts on the album, and is one of the best songs of 2020 so far. He isn’t just talking about random jewelry and women, but he is actually addressing real problems. Problems every one can relate to, no matter if you are black or white. This songs is like Torey Lanez entering the boxing ring, ready for whatever is coming at him. The beat he raps over uses a sample, very simple instruments. But nonetheless the beat sounds like Torey Lanez is going to war with the whole rap community. He is ready for whatever they are about to say to him, and whatever they say he is a rebuttal and comeback that makes them want to shut up and listen. He chooses a flow that is so slick and in a way makes him sound so cocky and confident, but it adds to the song perfectly and makes him seem like he is telling the truth and is confident in his innocence. He addresses how his own race turned on him, without even having proof that he hurt a woman or did anything illegal, right after they marched about being united. He is calling out everyone on this song, and he is addressing how he is innocent. He says that this is all a test by God to see how faithful he is. This track is a great track for Torey Lanez, and I feel like it shows his ability to rap even more. It shows that he is not just a singer. I believe this is a outstanding track, and it is one of his best tracks overall.

Look How GOD Works
Rapper Torey Lanez recently released an album. A stand out from this album is the song Look How GOD Works. He opens up on this song, lets us know about his passed, and what is going in his life right now. He recently accused of shooting fellow rapper Megan the Stallion and his named has been getting dragged through the mud recently. One the album, and in every song on the album he talks about the situation and says he innocent in one way or another. The reason why this song is a stand out off the album because it a song that is very emotional and grabs the attention of the audience very easily. Torey doesn’t rap on this song either, he sings and it is very emotional and touching. At times he can even sound like the Weeknd, because of the range he is singing at. You can even here the emotion in his voice. The beat of this song is very simple, because it is just a piano surround by a sample that makes the song that much more emotional. Torey Lanez uses his voice, and his emotion to carry the song. For most of the song there is not even a beat, but just the sample, the piano, and his voice. In the song he touches on his situation slightly, but he mostly talks about how he came up. He says he was so broke at times, that he wanted to cry. He also says that he works so hard now to make sure that his family is never in that position again. He also says that he would never hit a woman or shot a woman, which hits home the point that she is lying. He also states that if he has to go to jail, he wants the people around him to make sure his son is taken care of, and that his fans get to hear all the records he didn’t get to produce. This track is very well put together, and probably one of the most emotionally charged records of the year, and Torey Lanez executed his delivery perfectly. He is showing his talent, and makes me excited to see what will come next in the few years.

Money Over Fall outs Reveiw
Rapper Torey Lanez has been the subject of drama for the past few months. It is said that he shot fellow rapper Megan the Stallion in the foot, when they were leaving a party one night. Torey says he did not do anything of the sort, but Megan claims other wise. She went on Instagram and publicly called him a liar, shaming him and giving him a bad name. Torey would be arrested because of the incident and be charged with possessing a weapon. Many people would also side with Megan. Torey Lanez would remain quiet throughout the whole incident, but in the last week he would release and album called Daystar. This album was a surprise to everyone. He would touch on the incident with Megan the Stallion, and what happened that night. But, one stand out track from this album is Money over Fall outs. This song is stand out, because it is some of the best work from Torey yet. This does not sound like a rap song from today, but of something from the early two thousands. The beat is a piano surrounded but various other instruments, and it sounds like it could be in a rocky movie. It sets the tone for the track perfectly, making it seem like Torey is stepping into a ring getting ready to fight for his side. The beat surrounds hard hitting base that make the song that much better. Torey flows on this song very aggressively and fast, making sure every line hits you. He touches on the incident various times, and mixes in world play, and every element that makes a great hip hop song. He addresses the public also, and how they have been saying hurtful things about him, without even knowing the full truth. He also says a powerful line in the song, “How you got shot in your foot, don’t hit know bonds or tendons”, which hits home his point even more. Because there are so many muscles in your foot as well as nerves that if you were to get shot it should do some damage. Megan seemed fine the next day after the shooting and could walk perfectly fine. The bullets from the gun could also not be matched to Torey’s which could prove his innocence. But, nonetheless Torey Lanez has made a great rap song, that has a purpose unlike many songs today, and I am excited to see what will come next.

Track Review

2kBaby is a rising artist. He is new to the hip hop industry but his music is spreading quickly. A standout track of his is MAD. He opens up on this track, and shares how he feels and what happened in his past. The first line of the song is a powerful one and many people of today’s generation can relate to this. He says “I used to be a sad cat, I want my dad back”. This track allows so many of today’s youth to relate because a lot of kids today do not know there fathers. This is a sad truth, but very necessary to be said, and it is very powerful that he put it in this song because it allows his fans to relate to him and connect. There is a piano in the background with a sample, that makes you feel like you are kid again. This really creates the atmosphere that this song needs to hit home, because the rapper is talking about his past and what happened as a kid. He is talking about all those bad times and things that happened to him that should not happen to anyone else. He touches on heartbreak, and others not showing him the kindness he showed them. He also touches on the topic of being bullied as a kid, and others laughing him. But, now he does not have the worry or insecurities of the past because he put in the work and accomplished something and made something of his self. This is what makes this track good. It will make you look back on who you were, and realize if you made something of yourself or let yourself fall deeper into a hole that will lead to never ending sadness. His flow his this home even more, as it is smooth but complicated in a way. Every time he finishes a line on the beat it just hits his point home even further, and how he starts the track of with this fast hard hitting flow and transitions to singing in a somber tone really shows his emotion. This is a very good track, and for such a young rapper, to create this tone and feeling this well is very impressive. I am excited to see what more he has to offer as he reaches his prime and highest points in his career.

Track Review

Rapper Polo g released a new single 2 days ago. This is his most recent release since his album in June. This is one of those singles to remember. I would say this is one of his best songs, and he touches on different topics, from missing people who have passed, his enemies, and different females missing treating him. This track uses a guitar, which is different from many of his tracks where mainly utilizes pianos. The guitar is played in a somber, that makes you feel as if he is going to retell his life story. The guitar calms you and draws in your attention, it also creates this feeling of somberness, and raises strong feelings. Polo g’s first line is the perfect way to open the track, He says “I’m so sick of farewells and R.I.P’s”. Many people can relate to this line because we have all lost someone at one time another. Also many people that have been so influential have died in the past few years. This line could also be directed at the passing of Juice Wrld who was a fellow rapper and close friend of Polo G. He references Juice Wrld in another track of his also. This track also introduces a new style from Polo G, where it seems in some parts of the song he is even singing instead of mixing singing with rapping. This shows development because he is constantly working on his voice, and for his first single in a while this was the perfect time to introduce the world to his increasing skill. The track is also performing well commercially, amassing 2.4 million views on YouTube in 2 days. This is a good single for Polo G and only makes me excited to see what he will do next.

Wishing Well Review

Rapper Juice Wrld released his first posthumous album a few weeks ago. After his passing the questioned was asked when is another album from him coming, and how is it going to be. Many thought the music released after his death would never compare to the music before he died, and many thought that his great career would be ruined if this album turned out to be horrible. Juice Wrld was known as this talented rapper, that introduced the world to new style of Emo Rap. His music would help so many, so there was a huge amount of pressure on his record label to produce a good album, and they did not disappoint. The album would be called Legends Never Die. Juice would have many songs that would be loved by his fans and many people learning about his music after his death. One his album there were many goods songs, but one the best songs on the album was Wishing Well. Wishing Well is the 14th song on the album. It is the most emotional song, and touches on Juice Wrld’s drug addiction and emotional trouble. The song has a piano in the background, surrounded by heavy base. This makes the beat fairly simple, and allows Juice Wrld the freedom to switch his flows and tone during the song. This song brings what many fans wanted, because it sound like a song he would’ve made before he passed. When he sings you can feel his emotion, and tell that he really is hurting by the things occurring in his life. The chorus hits you like a spreading train, he never gives you a break and every line feel like it has meaning. In the first line he says he can breathe, and he’s waiting for an exhale which shows how much a struggling emotion. In his first verse, he is essentially crying for help, saying how he doesn’t want anyone to worry about him so he holds it all in. He also talks about how his life now can not be real, and he waiting for his story to be finished. In the second verse he mainly touches on his abuse of drugs. Juice Wrld was known for using drugs, mainly to help with his emotions. He suffered from depression along with many other issues. In the first line of the second verse he raps “Sometimes I don’t know how to feel. Lets be for real, if it wasn’t for the pills I wouldn’t be here. But if I keep taking these pills I won’t be here.” These lines hit everyone listening to the song, because he is saying that the same thing that keeps him living Earth is going to be the same thing that takes his life. This was very sad but true at the same time, and it was such a powerful statement. This line was also so powerful, because he basically told his future. As we all know Juice Wrld tragically died on a plane due to an overdose. Juice Wrld’s emotion, world play, and delivery in this song make it stand out among the rest. It brings back the old elements that made so many fall in love with him, but it also introduces a new emotional side of him never seen before, because he is not just rapping about a female or drugs. He is rapping about how the drugs affect him, and how his emotions are starting to over take him and he doesn’t know how much longer he can take it. Juice Wrld also confronts this in this song, and admits he knows what will eventually happen if he doesn’t handle his emotions or the drug abuse.

Drug Addiction

Rapper Nba Youngboy recently released his new studio album Top. It cam with a mix of songs, that carry different themes, moods, and tones. The album is a roller coaster of emotions, at one moment a song can make you feel like you can conquer the world while the next makes you remember every sad event in your past. But out of all of the songs that creates this emotional roller coaster of an album, the song To My Lowest stands out. He tells about his relationship with Floyd Mayweather’s daughter, Yaya. He raps over a somber be comprised of a guitar, that will touch you every time it is played. The beat of the guitar in the background has hard hitting base and snares, which could throw the feeling of the entire song off. But, instead it creates this perfect balance between being sad and happy, that the song connects with the listener even more. NBA Youngboy raps with a flow and tone that perfectly complements this beat, and makes you feel a euphoric feeling when you listen to this song. This song will also make you reminisce on all of the sad things and people that hurt in your life. He talks about his girlfriend not caring about him. When she should’ve helped him and picked him up from his lowest points she knocked him down even more. He adds on to this by saying that his pain just keeps on growing, and the more it grows the more it begins to show and the less he can hide it. The rapper also tells how he will get rid of her if she treats him wrong, but he contradicts himself by saying he will do anything for her and doesn’t want her going anywhere. This contradiction shows the emotional roller coaster he is going on, and it is to the point where it feels as if it is actually happening in front of you presently instead of him telling a story. The emotions conveyed in this song, and the guitar in the background as he raps makes this song a stand out. It brings something out of the listener that no other song does on this album.

Lil Baby My Turn Album Review
Rapper Lil Baby’s My Turn Album Cover
My Turn has to be Lil Baby’s best album to date. When Lil Baby released this album, it was after a year long break. Everyone had the same question, “Will he be able to top all of the rest of his albums”?. When considering where Lil baby was at in his career at that point that would be a large tasks. He had three albums that were already platinum, with huge hits coming back to back. There was no stopping him, all he had to do was keep producing at the same rate with the same quality. But, when he took the year off in 2019, something amazing come the next year. Enter, his album my turn. He would introduce the album with lead singles such as Woah, and Sum 2 Prove. Woah was a song with a catchy hook, nice melody, beat, and with Lil Baby’s smooth flow to complement it all it made for the perfect song. But it did not perform and grow as big as he thought it would, and Sum 2 Prove was a successful song as well, and would eventually go platinum. But with all the success would come very mixed reviews, and the album would take time to make its impact. Lil baby would come with a new different delivery one this album, he would introduce more complicated flows, more complex story lines, and concepts. He no longer wanted to just rap about the women, drugs, and guns he used and abused. But he wanted to tell about these things in different ways, he told about how he was growing up and had to sell drugs until he was told to rap, and he even would start respecting women unlike many people in rap. He would tell how those harsh subjects shaped growing up, and how he uses them now in positive ways, instead of negative. Once people would get used to Lil Baby’s maturity that’s when this album would be appreciated. With songs like Emotionally Scarred and Grace, this album would began to reach its full potential. He would open up in these songs like never seen before, and would introduce the fans to someone who was more aware of society and the things around him. But, a month after releasing this album, Lil Baby decided it as time for more, and would release the deluxe version of his album. This would introduce 6 new songs, and a hit single We Paid. Lil Baby would partner with rapper 42 Dugg to create something unlike anything we ever heard. With the hard hitting base, and the beat being so open allowing the rappers to have the freedom to showcase two of the best flows and one of the best choruses of 2020. This would sky rocket Lil Baby’s album to new heights, and even push him past his peers, all of them. He would be even said to be catching drake, and major artist who are unimaginably popular. After all the hard work, Lil Baby’s album lives up to his name, and shows that it his turn to take the crown and be the new face of rap.
