I don’t usually post about my personal life on here—at least not in an explicit way—but this has been an extraordinarily difficult time for my family.

My aunt had to self-deport after her I-485 was denied by USCIS and she was given a little over a month to vacate the country. She left on her own out of fear due to the horrific ICE raids we’ve been seeing for months now. My mother just passed away last year after being chronically ill and disabled for six years. We had to use our savings and crowdsource money from friends and family. I stopped working shortly before my mom passed. My aunt stopped working immediately once she received her notice from USCIS. Between the cost of my mother’s funeral and abruptly having to pack up our family home and store or ship or give away most of our belongings, we’ve hit a breaking point financially. We have nothing saved up, and we are both facing potential homelessness due to our lack of work.

We’re asking for help to stay afloat as we navigate this devastating situation. Anything helps—donating, sharing, reaching out to talk. We’re so grateful for what we’ve received so far, financial or otherwise, and touched by the kindness of our community.
