She Got Away
By: gorefatale
"Hold still, you little rascal," Selina murmurs to herself, her gloved fingers carefully working the lock. It's a Tuesday night, the kind where the lights paint the rooftops in yellow, making every corner feel like a stage waiting for a show to begin. Which wouldn't be in vain, actually. It's Gotham City, after all.
Below her looms the museum, a storage of relics—things that could change lives if they ever escaped the hands of the privilaged.
Selina has a plan. A clean one, too. Swipe a gadget, dismantle it, sell the parts, and provide the cash to communities that need it most. It isn’t exactly Robin Hood. She doesn’t wear green or sing about merry men, but it's definitely a start.
The lock clicks open with a snap that sounds too loud compared to the hush of the night. She smirks, "Showtime." With practiced ease, she tosses her grappling hook to the adjacent rooftop, the line catching and going taut. She zips across with the grace of a cat, landing in a crouch.
Two guards patrol the rooftop, flashlights shining through the darkness. She waits and watches. Timing is everything. Then she strikes, fast, clean, precise. Her fists move strategically, and the guards slump down before they know it. They’ll most likely wake up with a headache and a bruised ego, but nothing more.
Selina slithers into the museum’s ventilation shaft, her night vision goggles adjusting quickly. She has studied the blueprints for days, memorizing every twist and corner.
After a while, she sees it. The gadget is kept in a glass room, a centerpiece surrounded by laser grids and security cameras.
She reaches the vent above the display, her breath fogging slightly in the cold air. The gadget gleams like bait, its chrome surface reflecting soft museum lighting. Selina prepares her grappling device, suctioning it to the glass pane above. One slow, deliberate pull, and the pane gives in with a faint pop.
Lowering herself silently, she lands on the floor. The room’s silence is almost haunting, broken only by the ticking of the security system’s invisible countdown. She moves fast, her hand sliding into a compartment on her belt and retrieving a small, sleek tool resembling a high-tech screwdriver.
The glass case yields easily, the seal breaking with a hiss. The gadget waits, perfectly positioned, as if it's aware what's about to happen. She reaches for it, and that is when she hears it.
A footstep. Almost imperceptible, but it doesn’t belong.
She tries to retreat, clutching the gadget close, and finds herself face-to-face with something far from ordinary.
The woman stands tall, cloaked in red leather. Her face looks as if it was stitched with deliberate care, with a hint of blue skin beneath. Her eyes burn with focus.
"Freeze," she orders, her voice low and charged.
Selina raises an eyebrow at the gun in her hand. “Bullets won’t help you much, sweetheart.”
The woman's mouth twitches nto something that might’ve been a grin, or a warning. "I know."
She steps closer, and the atmosphere shifts, thickening around them. There is a strange energy to her presence. It's not quite threatening, but not friendly either.
Selina takes in the stranger’s stance, the way her fingers tighten around the gun, the way her eyes flicker.
"What do you want with it?" she asks, her voice low but firm.
"Waller sent me," the woman answers, her tone smooth.
That name makes Selina’s pulse jump. Amanda Waller. She tightens her hold around the gadget.
"What’s she playing at this time?"
"That’s above your pay grade."
Selina backs up a step, her stance more guarded. “I don’t work for Waller, and I’m not handing this over.”
The stranger’s face hardens, the smile gone. “You don’t have a choice.”
Then they collide.
Leather meets leather, claws against combat gloves. The woman is way stronger than expected; almost unnaturally so, but Selina is faster, avoiding each strike with calculated moves. They crash through the glass display, the gadget tumbling out of reach.
They roll across the floor, each maneuver landing with weight and intensity. Their limbs tangle as they grapple for control. Selina feels a hand grip her hip, firm and deliberate, but she shoves any thoughts away, focusing instead on escape.
She breaks free, flipping over the woman’s head and landing in a crouch. The gadget is hers again, cold and safe in her hands.
“You’re going to have to do better than that,” she says, teasing her opponent.
The woman, breathing hard, rises to one knee, her gaze unforgiving. “You have no idea what you’re holding.”
Selina tilts her head, curiosity piqued. “Try me.”
The stranger doesn’t respond immediately. Instead, she steps forward deliberately calm, the air between them full of tension. Then comes the sound of boots on tile. Selina moves, but so does the woman.
What followed is a blur, with Selina bolting through the broken window, the stranger on her heels. The chase bleeds into the night, across rooftops and down fire escapes, until Selina’s boots finally hit pavement. The cold night air wraps around her as she lands, breathless, her mind racing. But then, ice.
Her boot slip, and the woman is on her instantly. The gun is long forgotten. Hands grab her waist, pulling her in. They stumble together, crashing against a brick wall.
"Let go," Selina snaps, pushing back.
The woman doesn’t. Her hands stay firmly on Selina’s hips, her grip harsh.
"Not until you give me the gadget," she whispers, voice low.
For a moment, no one moves. Their eyes lock into each other's. Selina feels the heat of the stranger’s breath, the nearness of her body, the fire still burning in her eyes. She is used to adrenaline—but this? This is different.
Selina twists, breaking the hold. They both go down, the gadget flying from her hand. It hits the pavement and bounces, stopping between them. The woman lunges, but Selina is faster, her claws snatching the device just as the other’s hand clamps around her wrist.
They freeze, faces inches apart.
“Why are you fighting me?” Selina asks, voice quieter now. “What does Waller want with this?”
The woman’s expression changes. Her anger softens into something far more complicated. “You wouldn’t believe me.”
Selina leans in slightly, searching her face. “You could be wrong.”
For a moment, the woman’s gaze drops. Not to the gadget, but somewhere more vulnerable. The stillness holds. Then she draws back, releasing Selina’s wrist as she rises to her feet.
“It’s not about the money,” she murmurs, almost to herself. “It’s about justice.”
Selina blinks, startled by the tone. “Justice?” she repeats. “Since when does Waller care about that?”
The woman’s mouth quirks in something between a smirk and a grimace. “The kind of justice that keeps people like us in line.”
And with that, she vanishes into the shadows.
Sirens wail in the distance, growing louder. Selina doesn’t move for a moment, her mind still stuck in what just happened.
She can no longer think about the gadget. She can only think about her.

Hello 🙋
My name is Ahmed, I’m 20 years old, and I’m from Gaza City. I used to dream of a peaceful life, completing my education, and getting a job, but the war has turned that dream into something impossible 💔😭. We lived through this massacre in every painful detail, and we are still in pain 😔. We were so happy when the ceasefire was announced, and we returned to our homes in the north of Gaza after being displaced for a year and a half in a tent in the south of the Strip. After we fixed a small room in our destroyed house to live in and start over, unfortunately, the war returned, stronger than before 💔. Now, we have no shelter and no source of income. We have exhausted all our savings during the war. I know that I started my campaign very late, but that’s because there is no other way to help my family 🙏. I am fully confident and hopeful that someone here will help us as much as they can and save my family in these difficult circumstances 😔.

I know that the feeling of starting from scratch is painful and frustrating, but I hope to receive any amount for my family 🥺🙏.

Even a small donation would have a great impact on us 🥺. May God bless you, my friend 🥰❤️.

⚠️Please Help my children ‼️
Please donate and share
Hello friends, I am Abdullah Salem Abdullah Jaafar, 26 years old, a graduate of the University College with a degree in Information Technology - Multimedia. I used to have a beautiful family; I’m married and have four children, and my wife is pregnant.
I previously worked at a multimedia company, but because of the war, I lost my job, my home, my car, and now I have no place to live or work.
During the war, we were forced to evacuate more than four times. Each time, we had to leave everything behind without taking any of our personal belongings.
I live in northern Gaza.
We were displaced to southern Gaza, then to Deir al-Balah, then to Rafah, and now we live in an uninhabitable tent that is not suitable for living.
My daughter Rahaf was martyred in the war due to Israeli airstrikes. Now I have Iman, Malak, Basel, and my wife is in her seventh month of pregnancy.
Please, I am in desperate need of your help just to provide food and water for my children.
I lost my home and we have become homeless."
Please donate and share

Damian wanted a magical weapon and instead got a magical animal guardian </3
gonna get ahead of the curve and acknowledge this before it gets pointed out yes I’m aware that I chose outs at different stages of their lives but a) I refuse to draw Jon aged up mostly bc they sucked out all his individuality and b) I have other plans for Damian’s traditional Robin suit that he wears in Supersons. The outfit I gave Damian here is to match the rough timeline I’ve drawn his family in. I’m waggling my finger, it was on purpose so I better not see any gripes.
