I'm trying but got a lot of things happening. Doing accounting at college, currently away with my partner and toddler and got another baby coming any day so writing has unfortunately fallen quite far down the list of things to do

F/Feb 2025 Day 1: Frost

Day One - Frost

Pairing - Ondina x Mimmi

Living a life partially on land was fine when it was in Australia, the Gold Coast never really got cold even in Winter. There were days it certainly felt colder but it was nothing like this. 

Ondina zipped up the most padded jacket she’d found in a shop her first day here, and pulled a woolen hat down over her head - which she had already adorned with a fluffy headband to protect her ears - and opened the front door to be met with a cold so biting she could have sworn she’d lost her nose already. 

Why in the seven seas had she done this again?

The snood she had around her neck was instantly pulled up to cover her mouth and nose, leaving only her eyes and a tiny portion of her forehead exposed to the morning. 

She’d been warned. By multiple people. Multiple times. Land people and other Mermaids alike. 

“It’s cold, Ondina. Proper cold.”

“You will freeze.”

“You’re a Southern Mermaid, you will get sick at the first snowfall.”

She’d ignored them, she’d argued, she’d accused them of overreacting and now she regretted it. Partially. She’d done it for Mimmi. It couldn’t be regret she was feeling when she was here with Mimmi. She’d followed her across the world to the whole opposite hemisphere. All because they had the most horrible timing. 

Mimmi and Chris had split after two years of the land boy being involved in the whole Mermaid deal. Mimmi never really said why and no one pried. Then Nerissa offered to take her daughter back to their old home to see family in the Northern Pod just a few days after.  

That night Ondina confessed the years of held back feelings that she had never been able to place, the thoughts of Mimmi that wouldn’t leave her even when she was happily exploring Shanghai with Weilan and spending the night in bed together. She hoped her time away in China would have stopped whatever it was about Mimmi but it was a distraction only

The next morning Mimmi left for Canada with her mother. 

Two days later Ondina left for Canada. 

There was snow promised but for now the entire world was coated in shimmering frost, the grass, the leaves, the wooden posts of the fence along their rental house. There was a beauty in it, but the ever present cold of the Canadian winter made existing outside just too uncomfortable for her liking. Even the Ocean couldn’t help, the cold struck right to her bones whenever she entered the water. 

Ondina trudged across the grass, the blades crunching away under her feet as she followed the set of footprints marking the way. A little brown bird with red hopped out of her way, flying up into the sky with almost crystalised berries in its mouth. 

Other tracks across the frost showed evidence of varying creatures wandering across the garden during the early hours between the sun’s rise and Ondina’s rise. 

There was a large building at the far end of the garden, it’s roof white and shimmering in the weak sun. Three walls were wood with frost clinging to the planks. The other wall, facing away from the property out to the forest was glass.

Ondina opened the door and the wave of warm that hit her was the most wonderful feeling. Until she saw Mimmi, lounging in the heated pool, long tail stretched out and shells woven into her hair.

“You took your time,” Mimmi smiled at her.

“Have you felt how cold it is outside?” Ondina slowly began shedding her layers. 

“It’s cold but it’s not that bad,” Mimmi laughed as she swished her fin, small waves lapping on the edges on the pool. 

“Says the Northern Mermaid,” now down to just her fleeced leggings and a shirt, Ondina chucked the final layer in the pile she’d created and jumped into the water, taking care to thoroughly splash Mimmi. 

She surfaced to immediately be met with a spurt of water in the face.

“Hey!” Ondina sent water shooting into Mimmi with her Power.

“It was payback!” Mimmi defended herself. Ondina saw her next move coming and caught Mimmi’s wrist before she could launch another water attack. Then pulled Mimmi in for a kiss. 

Sure the frost and the snow and the ice was cold, but right here Mimmi was warm. Not just in her lips on Ondina’s or her hands on her skin, but in her heart. Her warmth and softness was enough to keep Ondina going through every new winter morning and she wouldn’t change it for the world.

So I vanished again but I'm back for a little bit and will be doing Femslash Feb again this year for as long as I can. I'm behind a bit as I am only starting today but feel free to send over pairing requests or if there's any specific day for specific pairings

Rita is a bottom. She tries to top but fails. Every time. It's literally the only thing she fails at and it pisses her off every time.

Still alive and actually trying to write again! Working on The Day That Went Askew chapter 28 again but I really need to re-read the fic and re-watch season 1 of Mako Mermaids.

I've skipped a few episodes but now I'm thinking maybe I should go back but then this is an AU and things are already out of order so maybe the path is already set...

mimmi is a derivative of miriam. miriam in the bible was moses' sister. moses was left behind by his birth mom for his safety and he was delivered by the water to his adoptive parents

I think the entire fandom should start rewatching H2O from the first episode at the same time that way we'd all be in the zone together and tumblr will thrive and society will heal

Ok I want to say something controversial

But you are responsible for your own safe spaces. You can block tags, block words, block people.

“But i thought fandom was supposed to be a safe space” —yeah you have to curate it.

Unfortunately one persons’s safe space may be another persons’ trigger. That’s ok. Simply block them, block the tag, block the word etc. They can do the same for you.

Maybe I’m just out of touch, but I’ve been around since the days of “don’t like, don’t read” and that’s a good philosophy. If it squicks you, scroll past. If it causes you anxiety or upset, block! Plenty of people are responsive if you ask them to tag an upsetting trigger. And if they’re dicks about it, block em.

If the character of Bella had been introduced in the second season, with the girls finding out that she was also a mermaid things might have gone differently. Like, yeah, it wouldn't have fit with the whole "only three mermaids" theme, but let's think about it for a second. She is friendly, sweet and understanding, she could have met Charlotte in art class and get along with her right away. Charlotte would have a friend she could lean on when things with Lewis weren't going well, she wouldn't need to spend all her time with him because she has someone else that give her affection, and she wouldn't want to join Cleo, Emma, ​​and Rikki so desperately either.

For Lewis, it could have been that friend who, even though she might disagree with how he acted sometimes, would give him the empathy and appreciation that the girls didn't give him in many moments because she would understand he was in a difficult position. He really cried out for having a source of support that doesn’t force him to choose sides all the time and maybe, ironically, that could have made him more corageous to stand up for himself and for Charlotte.

And as for the girls, I think that even though Bella would have had a hard time saying what she thought because she would have been afraid to confront them now that she could feel like she belonged somewhere, she would have called them out for their intimidating and rude behavior towards Charlotte and Lewis.  Remember that on (rare) occasions she brings out her bad temper, she may not know how to see when she herself isn’t being treated well, but she may have a little more judgment when other people are being unfair to other person and she wouldn’t have hesitated, knowing what it was like for her to go through that experience alone, in helping Charlotte if, even with everything, she had become a mermaid)

I don't know, I believe because of her inherently good nature and the fact that she wasn`t part of the group from the beginning, she could have been the glue between the two feuding parties (Lewis, Charlotte vs the girls). She would have provided a valuable outside perspective that wouldn't have been so contaminated by festering emotions.

Of course, she would need a therapist herself to deal with it without losing her mind hahaha.

Your thoughts? Perhaps too idealistic?  I don’t want to say that her mere presence could have prevented the conflict, but it could have made it easier to bear with it and reach a better ending.

Evie winced at the combined sound of Cam’s shriek and the mirror falling and cracking. Rita was going to kill them, that mirror looked expensive.

“I’M GREEN!”

“Mimmi what did you do!”

“Rita’s going to kill us for breaking that mirror.”

“And for wasting her ingredients!”

“You look like an oompa loompa.”

“Oompa loompas are orange! Not green!”

“What’s an oompa loompa?”

“Goblin then.”

“Be grateful you’re not orange then.”

“I should totally take a picture.”

“I just took multiple.”

“Delete those!”

“Rita’s going to kill us all.”

“All? ME! I made the potion!”

“GUYS!”

“What!?” They all shouted in unison.
