Once upon a time, there were …

Wait… It wasn`t once upon a time, it was a month ago! But it definitely was a trip to remember, so one day 50 years later I can write once upon a time. (Of course I have no idea what I will write by that time, but today I know what to share with all of you).

Madrid – how did it all happen?

Since my best friend, Kadi, moved to Madrid a couple of months ago, I promised to visit her. Plus, with all the fantastic stories Diego (Who doesn’t know the awesome Diego?!) has told us about this city, it was about time to go explore what Madrid, Spain has to offer. ;)

On a Sunday night after the Charity Ball, where we had a great time and loads of champagne, we were off to Madrid. Since the weather was bad and rainy in Geneva during our journey, it was just what we needed: D-Vitamin! ;)

We took our Swiss Flight (Once again, I am super happy to fly with Swiss). Boarding was easy, the staff was friendly, and everything went smoothly. That`s why, whenever I can, I choose a better airline to fly with. I just can`t handle stress when I am travelling. I prefer comfort. ;)

Anyhow, our flight landed 20 min earlier in Madrid than it was initially supposed to, and “HALA MADRID!”

My best friend picked us up from the airport. We took the metro and were on our way to Kadi`s house.

After five minutes relaxing, we were off to see Diego and his friend in one very cool Market Bar (which may or may not be the actual name for it). It is like Market where you can buy wine, drinks, food (all kinds), and in the middle area, there are tables to relax and eat like crazy!

Madrid is very busy – I mean, I know it is a city. But when you leave Geneva on Sunday evening, you barely see anyone on the street. Then, you`re suddenly in the middle of the traffic stuffed full of people. It is a huge contrast! ;) But don`t worry Geneva, I still love you! ;)

We had such a great first night out!

Someone had some Tequila to get the party started – not me… This is a drink I just can`t swallow. So here is just a photo from my side. Who drank it? No idea! :D

Diego showed us around. Honestly, we probably had no idea where we went.

On Monday, we got up, and we were late just about everywhere we went. We probably got bit Spanish timing inside of ourselves. If it is 12.00, we show up at 13.00.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous, not a single cloud in the sky. Diego promised to be our Tour Guide and show us around, so that`s what we did! ;) Or, I mean Diego, as a Tour Guide, knows where to get the best food and WINE!

We sightsaw, as you can see from the photos. But we also ate and drank like we never had food in our life. I don`t know how to get rid of the kilos I gained there. :D Our first official stop was at the Plaza Mayor, where we had the chance to be the real tourist and drink some water. ;)

We had a nice afternoon, with the sun burning and everyone in a super good mood!

After moving on, we ended up at the “Mercardo de San Miguel”. If you ever go to Madrid, you must go there! Have a bottle of rose and eat as much as you can. There are all kinds of food, so there’s something for everyone, and they even have the best Tapas.

Just walk from one market to another and check out all the selections. And if you like seafood, this will be a paradise for you! ( I wish I could eat it).

We stayed there just about the whole afternoon because there was too much to drink and eat. And of course you can’t leave without eating everything…

Also, just next door from the market, there was an awesome restaurant called “Taste Gallery”. I just loved the decorations. Unfortunately, we didn’t go to eat there, but I loved how they had upcycled everything that would normally be thrown away or stored somewhere. Instead of throwing things out, they had recreated all the furniture and decoration simply reusing goods. SUPER SMART! Plus, they were serving Aperol – my favourite drink in this world!

Unfortunately, I can`t tell you how the food was there, but next time I will be sure to let you know! ;)

After several hours spent eating, we thought we’d do some more sightseeing. But it didn’t really work out since we ended up in some store buying wine and champagne. Then, we again ended up in another bar…

In the evening, we took a taxi to our hotel, the Hotel Madfor. The hotel was probably the biggest mistake we made during our stay in Madrid. The hotel location was good, and the hotel itself nice as well. But there were so many things I just do not recommend. Like I said, I do not like to share “negative” stuff though.

Next time we will all are smarter! ;)

Tuesday morning, we got up and we were ready to go shopping!

In the morning, we had Asian Lunch at a rooftop restaurant. Now, you all are probably wondering why we had Asian food in Spain. First of all, all the Spanish restaurants were still closed at 11.30 in the morning, and second, I just felt like having some rice and curry. No offense Spanish cuisine, you just weren’t open! :D

Afterwards, we met up with Diego. He took us to the Luxury Paradise, where we had the whole day to spend our time and money ! Yes, we did that!

Overall, outside Madrid is also super nice. So, if you get a chance to get out of the city and enjoy the countryside, you’ll still love Madrid! ;)

After five hours of shopping, we returned back to Madrid , and had a delicious late lunch (5pm is more or less lunchtime in Spain).

We had some drinks, food, and talked, enjoying each other’s company.

Then, we went to a bar where we watched football with all the other Real Madrid Fans and we had some super spicy chicken wings. It was funny, since I was the only one who was able to eat them while the rest of the table were just dying. It was hilarious!

We got back to hotel about midnight, and by that time Praveen`s bed was fixed.

The first night, he wasn’t allowed to move because if he did, the whole bed would move from one side to another.

Anyway, let`s move on to Wednesday – Our last and super sunny day in Madrid!

We again did some sightseeing, relaxed in the park, ate some more food, and had fun.

By the way, did I mention that each day we walked about 14-16 km?! Well, thank god that we did because otherwise we all should have bought an extra airplane ticket just so we could fit in the seats! ;)

Suddenly, it was 18.00 o`clock and we were ready to go back to Geneva, taking the sun with us! ;)

It is easy to say and hard to do! – I promise each week that I will write and share my photos. This year in 3 months I have had 8 big projects! I am almost done with everything and ready to start with new ones, so I am truly hoping that as soon as I have this “Piece of free time”, I will share all the photos, videos, Websites and etc with you! ;)

After two gorgeous days in Venice, our next destination was Verona! Let me be honest, I don’t think we would have ever gone there if one our friends hadn’t recommended it.

Well, everything happens for a reason and at the right time. As always my “Travel” posts are not the typical Tourist Post. Not that I do not care about all of the architecture, history and stories. I do!

But I do not like to be surrounded by crazy tourists who are just shoving and taking one photos after another without taking a moment to enjoy the beauty of it. We also took photos, but we also didn’t take photos of the most touristy places – because we all have a chance to go and see it. So if someone is looking at this Blog Post for some traditional “Travel” photos, then you are going to be disappointed! ;)

Venice To Verona

After a wonderful and delicious breakfast, we were on our way to Verona! It was a 2-hour drive from our hotel. The highway was clear and the mood was good, as we had so much fun in Venice and we were excited to travel back in time again.

Verona has been listed as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. And I completely agree with that. Did I like it more than Venice? Somehow yes!

We arrived to our hotel around 2 o’clock and we stayed at the wonderful www.dbhotelverona.

Again, we absolutely recommend it! First if you travel by car, then you’ll get free parking. The hotel also has two restaurants and spa. And because of the Spa, we decided to take this one! There are also many other wonderful Hotels to stay at. When we arrived, we booked our shuttle (15 euros round-trip) and we had our first glass of Prosecco for the day! ;)

V E R O N A

Within 10 minutes we were in the center on Verona and we were ready to discover and get lost. That’s what I love doing when I go to a new city, just to walk as much as possible and get to know the “real town” as much as possible.

It was a beautiful sunny Sunday and Verona was absolutely full of tourists. I was probably the tallest tourist in Verona after a very long time, so people just stopped and stared at me. No worries, I am used to that! ;)

First of course we discovered the amazing Colosseum! It is worth it.

Then of course we needed to take a photo of the “Forever Love” statue. But this was challenging. Because European people start queuing up, but then people from Asia or somewhere around there have no idea about forming a queue. I am sure I photo-bombed many of their photos, since I thought if you do not want to queue up then you will have a photo with me in the background.

Verona is absolutely magical. All the shops are open on Sundays and you can happily treat yourself with new pair of sunglasses or dresses.

By the time we arrived at the center of Verona Old town, it was just way too crowded. People were waiting to visit Giulietta’s statue and balcony. Here again, being tall was helpful because I didn’t need to push myself through all the tourists.

Been there! Success.

Verona is definitely super magical and a very romantic town! At the center of Verona you have a little market and some very good restaurants.

Then of course, we again had some pizza and Aperol! And more wine and Aperol.

And like I said, we love to get lost in a new city and drink some local wine or Prosecco, and of course meet some local people who don’t speak a word of English! That’s why I love you, my Italy.

We had exactly 15 minutes to run to the wine shop and our driver was already waiting! After a 15-minute drive, we were back in our hotel!

And then we spent our evening in the spa, because after this crazy winter, I needed to treat my body and mind. And of course for an Estonian to live in Switzerland and without any proper saunas, it is bit hard. The Italian sauna wasn’t very good either, but I didn’t expect it to be good!

Our day in Verona was over!

Next stop Milan – I love this city!

Hi My Friends,

I have been promising and promising, to write about our Hilarious Zurich Trip and share my Photoshoots! (I will, I will, I will)

A week ago we were travelling around northern Italy, and our first stop was Venice.

Praveen and I met four years ago, and since then we have the tradition to go somewhere to celebrate it. Luckily our anniversary is in Spring, so we do not need to travel very far.

Funnily it is the second year when we decided to go to Italy again. Wonder why we would like to get married there as well :)!

First we thought that we are going to take the flight to Venice and we will spend there another 3-4 days. But then friend of us, said that Verona is also super magical place to visit. Plus Praveen was crying about his “long pants” which he can only buy in Milan. ( My man cares about the fashion more, than probably I do- hard to measure)

Well, and since we do not own our Private Jet yet.Then we thought why not to do a road trip with our super cute Volvo. First road trip for our car and us- something always to remember. Memorable, it was!

Driving: Switzerland To Italy

Yeah probably all of you who are living in Switzerland been in Italy with a car at least once in your lifetime. And others who haven`t here is something to keep in your mind: If it is 130km/ph then it means 160 .. And I am not kidding…

In Switzerland everyone drives, let`s say “politely” or, however, we can say it. So driving in Italy and Switzerland can be too different Stories.

First, when you cross the border you notice 2 things immediately – Tunnels do not look the same like back in Switzerland and speed limit – They haven`t heard about it or if they have .. Then they do not care. Oh and I forgot the third thing – no one shows which way they are going. Just go with the flow. Believe me or not after 4 days driving in Italy. Eventually, I was going with the flow. But First day it was interesting. If you are the one who drives like “Swiss Style “, then do not go on the speeding line on Italian Highway. Just do not go, if you think that you`re driving with 130 km/ph and you`re trying to take over some slower cars ( Yeah they do exist on Italian Highway), then nooo.. Cause apparently meanwhile your car is trying to the get higher speed you have angry Italian behind you and driving so close to you that you feel that they can even hear and feel how I was breathing.

During our trip on Friday we saw 2 accidents, probably we were lucky to see only 2 accidents. Because for Italians “Break” dosen`t excist.

All right now probably all Italians who are reading it thinking that, camooon It is Italy, go with the flow!

That`s exactly what we did!

Next Stop Venice

Well after 12h on the road. Yeah can you belive it 12h on the road! We made it to Venice and our Hotel. We actually didint get lost even once. Here again we really recommend you to print out Micheline Travel Guide and have a good GPS! I could not believe that we didn’t get lost.

Anyhow, we arrived at our hotel 5 pm – Junior Park Hotel! Highly Recommended. First of all it has free Parking, second of all they have most fantastic rooms and garden. You have several restaurants and shops right behind the hotel. We stayed at the Dulex Room; we do recommend to stay there!

Rooms are gorgeous, with balcony, peacocks in the garden and everything is calm and quiet. Breakfast is at the most incredible dining hall and super delicious food. They even had Gluten Free Menu. So it is a big bonus for someone who has Gluten Allergy!

They have Hotel Shuttle, which costs 1,50 Euro per person and will bring you to the train station and back whenever you want. Plus their hotel team will buy you the tickets and makes sure that you “will validate your ticket at the train station” otherwise, you are going to face the penalty. ( Will speak about it at the end of my story). So in total up and down train tickets and shuttle for two people costs: 10 EUROS!

We did not stay in a central of Venice; reason was that I love to see the “Real Places”; As we all know Venice is just full of tourists, so how many real Italians you are going to meet? Plus also, we had a chance to travel with Italian Trains, – another exciting experience.

We met local people at the bar, we drank some local wine and ate some local Pizza. No one speaks English, but everything seems – Bueno! We had great fun!

Day in Venice

Like I said, we took the train to get to the central of Venice. Trains were nice, of course, they were about 35 minutes later. But no problemo!

When we arrived in Venice, we bought the day boat(bus) ticket which is 20 euros per 24h) We had no idea where to go or what to see. Since I have this thing that I do not like to make plans.. I just go with the flow.

So we just jumped on the boat and started to go somewhere. And once we though it is time to discover Venice, we jumped off! That`s how simple it is in Venice. But it is not that simple to find something else in Venice. Since I googled before and heard from our Hotel Guests, that there is no point to follow the map. It just dosesn’t work there. And let me be honest, It was the best option for me. I don`t like to follow others anyway and walking around in Venice is just the most romantic and interesting thing to do.

Why? Because you never know what comes next, and most likely you will not know later how to go back there: Too many small streets and bridges. So for Venice, I recommend you to trust your heart. You will discover the best restaurants, and eventually you will find all the “must see” places.

Italians and Food

Italians are funny, or we just had funny moments. They do not let you decide what do you want or prefer. They know what do you want and need!

They also have Gluten Free Wifi :D

It was a lunch time & we found a beautiful Sunny restaurant with terrace, and we thought, why not to enjoy our meal here.

We kindly said to the waitress that if we can sit where is the sun, he looks at us and says, yes here is the table: ( and pointing towards the table which was in the shade). Meanwhile, I was showing the table where we would like to sit and he says.. Yes, here it is ( again showing me the table in the shade).

Ok, didn’t work .. I politely said that we will go and visit the church, and we will come back.

Of course, we never returned and also had no chance to visit the Church, because the entrance we found was only for people who will pray. – No food, no church!

We moved on, and we found a small super cute restaurant, and since Tripadvisor awarded it, I thought- let`s try it!

Amazing! – Unfortunately do not remember the name of the restaurant and didn’t take any pictures either. Just because the food, service were so excellent.

The most expensive Picture of my life.

After our delicious lunch, we arrived back to the Grand Canal , the moment we poped out from the middle of nowhere. We had ladies waiting in front of us and were CALLING us that we MUST take a photo with them. As Being polite tourist we couldn`t refuse: We were happy and smiley and by the time we finished our photos. She says — 10 euros! Haha,

Serious? Well, we paid ( Since we had no other option), some 5-6 euros and She let us go! But then we sat just right behind her and started to stare people. Probably the best Humor of the day. They all had happy faces when they were taking the photo, like we had! ;) haha

But then comes : 10 EUROS! Haha, you all should saw their faces. I still regret that I didn’t take a video of it. Their Faces were suddenly like day and night – Happy Face to WTF face :D

Chinese were trying to be smart by saying: oh but i took with my iphone or whatever.. No, no, no – You took a picture with me: now pay! (Great Business Plan)

Like I said italians won`t let you to decide. You want or not the photo, you still pay! ;)

Then we finally thought maybe we will go to another Island.

We never made it there, since we missed the right stop and ended up again some another not the right place When we came off, and we were asking how do we get back to Central of Venice, Then “Ciao Paulo” was saying to us that the next boat will go in 5 minutes. All right then we had 5 minutes, to go to shop and get a bottle of wine.. But Paolo was saying “NO NO NO, you stand there and wait for your boat!” Like I said, Italians will not let you decide: You go and wait.. We had more than 5 minutes, but there we were waiting.. and Bottle of wine was waiting as well!

By the time we got back to the central of Venice, we had ended at the empty restaurant. Just because after this long day I wanted to choose, where I sit, what I drink and etc. – Finally we had luck. Aperol and lovely Sunshine!

Magical Venice at Night

And when the sun sets, Venice turns to be the most Magical Place on Earth. Oh, it is like you are travelling back in time and everything feels super romantic.

Of course, we ended up in another restaurant not because we choose it; Italians did for us! ;) As by the time we were walking around with our hungry face on they make sure that they will offer you something for free, and you will eat at their restaurant Well, we did have incredible food! In Venice, the food is absoutely fantastic, or we were just lucky!

After an excellent dinner, we managed to get our Masks and walk around and get lost in the most romatical town ever! It is like you are getting lost the in love, same way you get lost in Venice!

Travelling Back to our hotel!

We had our train back to the hotel around 22.00. Actually next time I would love to stay the night in central of Venice as well, just because this Venice turns to be the m ost magical place on earth or we just had way too much wine! ;)

Keep in your mind: “Validate your tickets” Si, Si, Si

We did it and the Ticket Checker came to check it.. We were happy and smiley, so were the couple just one seat ahead of us! But they forgot to validate their tickets, or they weren`t informed about it. The Italian Ticket Checker said: “Oh you haven`t validate your tickets, this means these tickets are not valid.” They were trying to explain that they have tickets, and didint know that they have to validate them.

Suddenly the Italian Ticket Checker said, “well the penalty is 60 euros.” You can feel how their happy day just got ruined.

And then The Italian Ticket Checker said: “No problemo, you turisto I helpo !! :) “

And train stops, he took the tickets, jumps out of the train. We thought, ok great, nice man, he is probably validating tickets for them.

He comes back and says: “No problemo, you turisto I helpo – 30 euros” and sits next to them!

This couple paid their fine and they came off at the same stop where we did! They weren`t happy and probably their most romantic evening just turned off!

You turisto, watch out! ;)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Finally in my last post, I managed to write about our Chicago trip. Which apparently got so much feedback and Social Media “Buzz”. It is incredible how many people are following my Blog and caring about it. Or also, I have these “Secret” readers who will never admit that they are reading it. But I like Secret Readers~Thank you for clicking it ;)

Like I promised I will show the best photos of the 2015. Well, let me be honest, it wasn`t the easiest challenge. I have been selecting photos over a week and everytime I am confused. First because last year I had about 55 official photoshoots + travel, moments and they all were completely different. But let me be honest 55 photoshoots are a pretty big amount work. And that`s why it is also very hard to choose the “Best Photos”. Because the question is what is the best photo? How can I distinguish them? I have been taking photos of children, fashion, animals, weddings, maternity, nature(I am not the best nature photographer), friendship photos, studio photos, family photos… and the list can go on and on

So which one is/are the best/s? I don`t have the answer for it. But I decided to bring out the photos that made me to remember 2015 the way it did. You will see that they all are from completely different time, place and theme. But this was my 2015!

Enjoy the photos

1. “Are you up there, can you see me?”

It is a photo taken at the Filipino wedding, which took place last year in May. Her eyes were seeing like someone very important and incredible up in the sealing. Like she is seeing someone powerful, someone who makes our dreams come true and someone who gives us hope.

2. “There is something more.”

Well, this is not a photo out of my photoshoot, I took this photo at the end of May. When the “Caves Ouvertes ” In Geneva took place.

I chose this photo, because each and every time I am looking this picture I start to think about different things. I feel that this Photo has a story and we all see it different. The story through my eyes is that there is always something more. But is it worth of going? How Far can I possibily go?

3. “Where do I hang my Jacket?”

Once again, completely out of my work photo.

Here is a place in Estonia, which probably every Estonian knows. But there is a vibe, which makes you feel like in paradise when it is cold outside. At the moment it is -30 degrees in Estonia, so I assume that “Müüriääre Kohvik” makes you feel that the world is and can be a better place. So if you ever visit Estonia, make sure that you are going to Haapsalu and have a good cappuccino and piece of declicious cake! The World is a better place, it just depends on where you hang your jacket.

4. “Let me write you in my Fairy Tale.”

Another Wedding PhotoShoot.

When we had this photoshoot, then suddenly everything around me turned to be like a Fairy Tale. It was a very cold morning, but I don`t remember any of that coldness anymore! ;)

5. ““Embrace all people with love.”

Friendship Photoshoot! When in this week when I was going through all the photos, I started to look at this one, and I thought.. How about we all share more love! Because since last year, I have avoided people who are having negative thoughts and talking about other persons. I have made peace with myself, and the only thing I can do ( we all could do) is to love more and LOVE MORE!

6. “Your Day is perfect with your Bridesmaids.”

Well, of course, I have the bit of a personal feelings about the wedding and bridesmaids. As at the moment I am planning my wedding and now after seeing this photo again. I realized how important are the Bridesmaids! Because they are not just your friends, they are the ones who always been and will be next to you. And of course on your most important day, they will be there and cherish with you!

7. ” Dream… Dream always big.”

About this photo. Ohh it is a long story. First, Daria is a good friend of mine and I offered her to have a photoshoot. Because what else I can give as a gift. Because this is a memory for a person forever. Well, as I love running then I used to run around this field pretty often. I had all of the plans ready in my head how I am going to take photos etc. When we had a photo shoot day and I told to Daria about my idea, she saw that field, and she thought I am not normal. There was nothing beautiful. Just a try grass.. And I was agree with her… But I also saw something she didint see on that moment. Well, the photos came out Amazing. I forgot to mention that I even got awarded for that photo, and I won the first price for “Summer” photo category. Thank you for everyone who voted and made me feel extremely good!

8. “Life is full of colors.”

Ohh, I had so many children`s photoshoots last year. But As being au-pair in my previous years, it helps a lot. Children can be incredibly fun and also extremely difficult. But here is the baby, I feel that we have a very close connection. First because I took the photos of her, when she wasn`t born yet. And also now Finally, I had a chance to take a pictures of her when she is in this life with all of us! She is incredible ;)

9. “Smile, Always!”

Oh, I love this girl and her positive energy. Of course, she is endowed with her beautiful smile!

10. ” If the eyes can speak.”

Oh wow, this photoshoot! I never expected that this is going to turn out like this. Beautiful people, with whom I had such a great chemistry. Everytime I say, if I have this chemistry during the photo shoot, then photos will turn out amazing!

11. “Nature is more powerful than you`re “

Like I said, I am not a good Landscape Photographer. But here is again another very personal story. It was a weekend when my mom and brother were flying over to Geneva, to spend a weekend in Chamonix. First they missed their flight, second I managed to get another flight for them. Third, I never drove that many km per day as I did on that day! I drove five times up and down from Chamonix to Geneva in one weekend. But .. we had amazing Chalet, best friends, and SUN!

12. “We all are better than we were yesterday.”

Again one photo out of this beautiful wedding. I guess I don`t need to add many words because the passion what you can see ob the picture is more than I can say.

16. “Chicago Train Station at 12.00 O`clock afternoon.”

Chicago was the longest trip for us this year. Probably the most important holiday for me, as I finally met the Family of my Love. But why this photo?

It was the incrdible moment when we all came off from the train, and the train station was full of people, and then 10 seconds later. We didn’t see anyone anymore.” That shows for me that every second thing can change, just depends on where you are and with whom you are. You don`t stop the time.

Oh, of course, I have to go personal. But like I said I can`t say which kind of photos are the best ones and which are not. So that`s why all the photos I have chosen are here for the reason. She is my mother in law, but moreover, she is the one who have raised a beautiful and caring man. She is the reason I can wake up every morning and say to my better half that I am so happy to have you. She is a reason why my life changed because I never believed in love. I believe in work, career and everything has to be serious in this life.

But she is the woman who gave so much love to his son, that today I am a lot happier person. And the only thing I can say is that THANK YOU FOR RAISING A MAN LIKE MY BETTER HALF.

Ohhhh, how many beautiful people I have! And you all are more Awesome than … the UNIVERSE My Last year`s birthday party probably was the craziest party for me, as the biggest storm happened to be on that day. Over 80 people attend the party in our apartment and as you can see they all are smiling. See you in 2016 – and it is going to be even more wild! ;)

Yes, we got engaged last year. Oh wow! Picture of a day when I had tears in my eyes by realizing how blessed we are with our friends, family, etc. And as you can see, I am really happy! A Little bit more than eight years ago I had the honor to become the first time in my life Sister.

I was 17 years only Child. THE ONE AND ONLY! And then my life changed, I got the biggest responsibility; I become a sister! And this all happened eight years ago… It is funny how life knows the best what do you need in this life and what makes your life better and happier. Thank you, Bryan, for making me feel so important as a big sister. Thank you for bringing so much love and happiness!

Since last year I bought Desktop instead of Laptop for myself, since that, I have become the lazy writer.

Like we all are making new year`s promises that we will do more sport, learn new things, etc., but my PROMISE is that I will update each week, at least, one Blog Post.

As my days are sometimes very long- minimum 15 hours work behind the camera or computer, and then my favorite thing in this life happens to be Bed. But let me be honest, 15 hours business days are not an excuse for my people, who are waiting to read my stories and see the pictures.Thank you for your kind emails and comments, you are making me feel important.( Oh, this year I made some incredible photos, did I share any of them… NO?!!!)

But today I will fill up my travel column, as it was probably the biggest highlight at the end of this year. Not only because we happened to be in Chicago, but also because it was the first time for me to meet my better half Parents and attend an Indian wedding. So it was 3 in one :)

I was super happy that we made a decision to travel with SAS airlines. We had a chance to choose either Turkish Airlines or SAS. We decided to go with SAS, as it had the 15hours flight instead of 30 hours flight with Turkish Airlines. The best decision we probably ever made, the flight was half empty, Food was super Delicious, and we made a new friend “Boku Sugar.”

We made a donation for “Bukowski” World Childhood Foundation and now we have a new baby to travel with us! Our first Baby!

We landed in Chicago on Sunday night after 15 hours flight. Chicago Welcomed us with fresh, white snow. Probably the only Snow in this year we were lucky to see, even Swiss Ski Resorts doesn’t have a proper snow.

Praveen`s sister picked us up and I after 3,5 years together with my man I finally met his Mom, Dad, and Sister. They welcomed us with excellent Indian food. It was so delicious! Spicy, tasty and something what I exactly needed after 15 hours flight.

Of course, I was enchanted this time with Jet Lag. I went to bed at 9 Chicago time and woke up at 2 am which was 8 o`clock in Swiss time. And my whole week was exactly like this. Very annoying!

The next day we were driving around and were trying to get some important stuff like ADAPTER and wine :)

Of course, everybody was super busy and excited about the wedding, which made this trip, even more, interesting. Praveen`s mother and sister bought me many sarees, my first ones ;) So on Monday I had my costume trial day – Love all of them ;)

Tuesday we took a trail to Chicago City Center, as we were advice it is the best option to go. Plus it is hard to find car parking. Well, the train costs for us only 7 dollars, and it was a very excellent adventure.

We arrived in Chicago and let me be honest, this city has WIFI everywhere and FREE one. So compare to Estonia, where they advertise that they have Free Wifi, and then there is nothing to compare with Chicago WIFI connection. We had WIFI everywhere!

Although let me be honest, first time I took my time off for a Holiday! First two days I was still a little bit using my phone, but then I forgot that I even have a phone! Well, it was good to be offline and spend time with my man and have fun. We had! ;) But Wifi was good for an option when you`re middle of the Chicago, and you need to order UBER or figure out how to get back to bar or hotel!

Then we had a little walk and found our Hotel; we stayed at Godfrey Hotel! AMAZING! Highly recommended.

Of course During this pre- Christmas time, we did so much Shopping at Macys and, later on, we had such a lovely spa treatment.

About our Spa evening, this turned out the little bit funny.

The girl who was taking care of my manicure and pedicure probably had a little crush on me :)

After the pedicure, she started to do my nails, and suddenly she says: “You`re so beautiful,”

I answered “Thank you it is very kind of you” .. I see how she blushes little bit, but I don´t let myself bother with it, as maybe it is the first time she says something to someone. Suddenly she says: “You have such a beautiful earrings and smile.” Ok, I smiled and said Thank you. Finally, Praveen came next to me to get his manicure done, and my girl was asking: “Is he your friend?” , I said,” No he is my fiance”. Her eyes turned big and sad… After this, she didn’t speak a word with me… Well, hopefully she had luck with someone else :)

We returned to Hotel and got ourselves ready! And we went to a GodFrey`s Lounge/bar! Incredible Food, Drinks, and Service! You all must stay at the Godfrey`s there when you visit Chicago!

One night full of fun and laugh! We had half day of Wednesday, and we were ready to go back and attend the first day of Wedding.

About Chicago: Big City but very fun! People are friendly and very easy to get around. UBER costs nothing there. I mean, most of the time we were using uber, and I assume that the whole week bill was together 100 USD. But we traveled very long distances etc. So I highly recommend using UBER ;)

INDIAN WEDDING

Well, and now the Cherry on Top of the Cake! We were invited to Praveen`s sister wedding. It was my first time to attend the Indian wedding. Well, I organized this summer a beautiful Indian Wedding, but now I Had a chance to be part of it!

Of course, the Indian wedding is something entirely different from my type of wedding. Not in a negative way, just because it was new for me I decided to go with the flow. Wednesday evening we had “Mendhi night.”

Mendhi: the art or practice of applying temporary henna tattoos, especially as part of a bride or groom’s preparations for a wedding.

It was very Interesting, but of course, as it was so busy time then I didn’t get to know so much, why it is important etc. The only thing I heard is that: More red is the Mendhi, the more your future husband loves you! ;)

As I offered myself to take some photos then I was busy with taking photos and videos! ( I will not share them all)

Evening end up with nice food and drinks.

Thursday the wedding day

Indians have a charming tradition where they send a girl away from home. It is somehow part of their Hindu Religion thing. Did I understand it completely? Not, as I am not raised like this. But I found that this is something breathtaking and lovely.

Of course, everyone was wearing beautiful clothes and bangles. They wash the bride with Turmeric powder. If you ask why? I don’t know…

The only thing what I am sad of is that I had no one, and plus myself didn’t do enough homework to understand what is exactly going on. After 2 hours, the ceremony was over, and we all started to become ready for the wedding.

Praveen`s sister got me a gorgeous Saree! I was very happy.

About the wedding… The bride was super gorgeous and seemed that everyone had fun.

But let the history talk about it one day longer, as someone`s wedding day is always more special than 3 sentences.

Time to go home

One week was super short, plus my terrible Jetlag!The jetlag was only good when I got back home, as my body and brain was still in Swiss time.

I was super happy that I met Praveen`s parents- they are lovely people. Praveen`s mom food is just super delicious. We will invite you all to our place when they come to visit us. Praveen`s father is someone I can speak the same “Language” not because we can talk in English, we can understand the world a little bit different. I can learn from him a lot regarding Yoga and Meditation. I was jubilant that eventually they took me the way I am. As it was the first time for me to meet my boyfriend`s parents, as Praveen is pretty much my one and only. But I am happy that he has such a lovely parents, who can handle a white girl! ;) Thank you.

Sunday evening before we started to go to an airport, I had a feeling, “why didn’t we come earlier?” Time is something that we ran out of it. It was such a beautiful week, full of love, passion, and feelings.
