Here's some advice.
Don’t date your former students because you are the same age as them. That. Doesn’t. Work.
If When they get completely attached and seem to think they are in love with you, you will feel like the biggest fool, and that you’ve hugely abused your position.

Alright, I know I disappeared for a while there. But things took a bit of a dramatic turn.
My ridiculous life got in the way of a lot of things; my boyfriend and I split, thanks to the distance having finally taken it's unrelenting toll on our relationship, and I went into a bit of a cocoon followed by the stupor of finals, followed at long last by my 21st birthday :)))) I will say this for grad school; it is a cruel place. I work harder than I ever have in my life and I am never quite good enough. I am never finished my work. I'm dabbling in alcoholism. It has crippled my relationships and my self-esteem. I'm sleep-deprived, hungry, and constantly feeling inadequate.
But I'll be damned if it isn't the most rewarding experience of my entire life.
I went to happy hour tonight, back home in TX to visit family. I'm about one mojito away from going all Bad Teacher on the undergrads around here.
Happy holidays. I refuse to be defined by the limitations others have put on me, and will continue to thrive despite circumstance.

Hello, autumn!
Where have you been?! For the past three days, it has actually been cold enough here in the south to wear scarves and jackets! As I had to teach Monday (when I took these), you can see my traditional teacher garb in my pencil skirt (Charlotte Russe) and blouse (Calvin Klein), but a pair of houndstooth textured tights (Target) and a mustard scarf (made by my mother) gave me some distinction. I paired this with a leather jacket (vintage) for the complete fall welcome!

Grading Papers.
Let me just say this to my students.
You're excellent. For the most part. You're going to achieve your dreams. But they will change after initial failure. I want to help you. But if one more of you comes on to me, I think I'm going to lose it.
Now, can you PLEASE reserve your terrible papers for any other class so I don't have to stay up all night grading this garbage?
Sincerely,
Your favorite teacher.

So, let me start by saying ignore the giant bruise on my shin. I ran into my evil dishwasher...getting my morning coffee is clearly hazardous.
Anyway, today, due to a football game on my campus, we got out at noon. What does that mean? More time to do chores before my flight tomorrow! HOORAY!
I am actually excited. Tomorrow, I'll be reunited with my boyfran. I miss him so much. Long distance is hard, but for those of you considering it, I say go for it! If you trust them, you love them, and you know your life would be half as wonderful without them, then what do you have to lose?
As for my clothes, I'm wearing a black and white tribal top (Cotton On), mint shorts (H&M) and coral sandals (Cotton On).
Happy Thursday!

While I did get my test grades back this week and I did earn a B (which is a grad school D), I did not let it break my spirit! Today, I wore a simple cream dress with a ruffle top and criss cross straps with olive lace tights and brown leather boots. It felt...hobo chic. Which is basically the definition of graduate school fashion!
My dog, Cooper (the boston terrier in my picture) decided to sneak in to my pictures today. Can't say I cared :)
C'est la vie.

Propose to this teacher.
30. Sneak into her office or classroom before she gets there and write your proposal on her desk or on the blackboard. Stay hiding in the coat closet or right outside the room until she arrives. via The Knot
THIS WOULD BE PERFECT.

Today was a good day.
I made a little progress on my grant proposal, which, let me say, a little is a lot in grad language. Still haven't gotten my test grade back, but never fear, I am trying to be brave! My long distance boyfriend called and had some very sweet sentiment to share with me, which is always a sure way to brighten me up :)
In other news, I am completely swamped, and I have about 79387789023049 things to do this weekend, including: grading rough drafts for my class, finishing my grant proposal, reading a LOT, reviewing articles for my study, and designing a second phase experiment.
Nbd.
As far as my outfit today, I wanted to wear this adorable lace shirt I got at Cotton On a million years ago, but it fits really loose and always makes me look wide. I decided wearing it with this yellow skirt (forever 21) would give me enough waist, and I think it was a success when adding this brown leather belt (f21). I wore a jean shirt (Cotton On) for the office, paired with brown flats I got from (get this) Lane Bryant! You never know where you'll find a good deal; these shoes were $4! PhDisasters like me gotta look for the deals...wherever they may roam!

Audio
Please just...listen. Listen, and repeat. Just keep doing as instructed until all problems disappear.
This is my favorite band, Circa Survive, from their new album, Violent Waves.
SO worth all your listening time.

Just another day in paradise. Casual Friday has been taken to new heights. Rust cords (forever 21) and a striped tank (H&M) made for the easiest roll out of bed ensemble ever. Paired with a glasses necklace and assorted gold rings along with black suede flats (H&M).
Don't judge me, I had my first test yesterday and it was bonkers hard. Grad school is for folks way smarter than me...hopefully I can keep swimming in this shark tank.

Test day today, means now is time for sleep and today was time to be adorable! I think that looking good on a test day always encourages me to do well, because the compliments boost my self esteem and that puts me in a good mood which makes me positive! Try it!
PS-Tests in grad school are REALLY HARD.
Wearing brown leather boots, black tights, a white polka-dot dress (Ruche), pearl necklaces made into bracelets, secured with a hair clip I made, and a blue infinity scarf (American Eagle).

Check it out...
My first tattoo! It reads "fortune favors the bold", a quote from Virgil. This quote is such a summary of my life. Everything I do, I do with the utmost bravery, and even if the idea or the plan seems crazy and unorthodox (like going to get my PhD at age 20) I do it anyway, because luck seems to always come to those with the most moxie. I try to live my life this way constantly. It has been remarked to me on several occasions that I am "a lucky girl", whether referring to my schooling, my family, my friends, my boyfriend, etc. However, in my opinion, luck is not random at all; we choose, through our actions, if luck will come for us. And we, the bold, the eccentric and unorthodox...we attract good fortune.
