This might be unpopular but I’m not going to use simpler vocabulary in my writing if it’s out of character for the narrator. If my POV character is a botanist, he’s going to call a plant by its name. If you don’t know what it is you can either Google it or move on just knowing it’s a plant of some sort.
I don’t like this trend of readers being angry that not everything is 100% understandable for them. I want my characters to be believable as people and sometimes people use words people outside of their field will not understand. That’s not a bad thing.
You don’t have to understand every word to get the gist of what’s happening. I’m not going to slow down an action scene to describe every weapon because someone might not know them by name. They can just assume it’s a weapon because that makes sense in the context of the scene.

Okay, so... Blüdhaven residents caught having Nightwing photobombs on their phones?
Imagine being a resident of Blüdhaven, one brave enough to take photos or even record videos at night for your social media... And when you check a tiktok that you just recorded on a rooftop with the rear camera of your cell phone, you realize that Nightwing was behind you, sometimes he even has fun dancing with you without you realizing it.
Nightwing never shows up when everyone tries to record him, but suddenly, some citizens discover they have a picture of him on their phones.

So wait are livestock guardian dogs to their flocks like… Clark Kent among the residents of Smallville? He’s been here since he was a baby, we all know him, and he’s… generally one-of-us shaped, uh, approximately. And then when something goes wrong he suddenly leaps into action and does some terrifying impossible shit none of us could do. And then comes back home and settles in like nothing happened and he’s one of us again.

tbh my take on the whole “should batman kill the joker” thing is that batman is a volunteer gig, and bruce is allowed to have boundaries
should *someone* kill the joker? maybe, idk. that’s above my pay grade. but just bc bruce wayne is willing to shoulder the weight of the world (whether anyone actually wants him to or not) doesn’t mean we should all just accept that it belongs to him. he chooses to help in what ways he is able, the ways he can live with, and if killing is the one line he won’t cross no matter what, well, it could be worse. but he has no actual moral obligation to do any of what he’s doing, actually, and if having this one boundary firmly in place is what keeps him from having a mental breakdown and becoming the thing he swore to stop, then i say more power to him and we could honestly all stand to learn from his example
#i think this is a way more interesting approach than just#batman wont kill because it is morally wrong to do so#and thus no one else is allowed to either#and like you can still have that tension between different personal morals#but framed through a more emotional/personal lense#idk i just feel like i empathise a lot more w batman when its a personal moral code vs an ideology everyone must adhere too#im sick tho so this might be mildly incoherent#oh! actually its more about the authors presentation#like they present it as inherently bad that batman wont kill#when its like... perfectly reasonable that he wont#like sure statistically everyone is better off if the joker is dead#but its immoral to force someone to take another life#and that aspect of jason and bruce isnt often explored#and thats not to say jason isnt also sympathetic in this scenario#its not wrong for him to want the joker dead and i can understand why he wants his dad to do the deed#but thats not something you can demand of a person#all this to say let someone else in the batfam kill the joker#and bruce actively avoid knowing who

people don't lean into the "bruce was raised by a british guy" thing enough. sure he calls people lad and perhaps drinks tea when alfred brings it to him but when is he going to slap his thighs and stand up and say "right then" or put an instant end to some nonsense by going "OI!" or eat a sad gruel-esque brick of weetabix alone in his cave? lock in guys

If you see someone with a really bad fandom take, I’m begging you to open your emails and write a strongly worded missive to your local government official about something bad happening in your community or country.
If you’re in Canada you could email a rep about concerns about Elon musk interfering in our next federal election.
If you’re in the US the list is endless.
If you’re in the UK you could email about trans health care.
If you’re in Australia, what about dental care in Medicare?
If you’re in Europe, look into some EU initiatives of particular concern. Perhaps something to do with nature and biodiversity? Idk
Just today I emailed my local mla about coal mining in the Rocky Mountains and tomorrow I’m going to pick something else and do it again
