THE IDEA OF YOU by Robinne Lee
RATES: 7/10
Review: " It is what it is"
Robinne Lee has a great way of capturing love, sweetness, humor, and fun in her descriptions. If you thought the movie was the ultimate masterpiece, you're mistaken.
Solène and August's story was sweet, even though it didn't have the happy ending we had hoped for (not the ending that they showed up in the movie sorry). They cherished every single day together from the moment they started dating—traveling the world, supporting each other, making love, and creating unforgettable memories. As time passed, reality caught up with them, and they realized that their love couldn’t last forever.
Solène also had to take care of her daughter, who had endured numerous mockeries and harsh comments about how her mother lived her life. She felt guilty for having hurt her daughter, who, despite everything, only wanted to see her mother happy and chose to remain silent. August, who had flourished in a world of happiness, was willing to give up everything, including his career, to be with his love—a brave decision on his part. However, she acted with maturity and pushed him to his breaking point, ultimately leading to their separation. It wasn’t easy for him, as he spent months insisting on coming back time and time again. Then, one morning, he fell silent, and that was the end.
Spoil: They never waited for each other over the course of five years.

OUR FAULT (Culpa Nuestra) by Mercedes Ron
RATES: 3,5/10
Review: “Drama-filled and toxic as it may be.”
There was a moment when I thought they were sharing love (Noah and Nick), but actually, no. They’re both swimming in their own juvenile limbo, where they don’t really know what they want or what they’re doing, and they live in two very different worlds. First of all, the fact that they pity their forbidden love, whether it’s the girl or the boy, of course in their respective turns, since they separated and tried to reconcile many times. Nick locked his door tightly the moment Noah tried to make things right, which isn’t really shocking after their infidelities; vice versa, when Noah claimed to have moved on just to act proud in front of his ex. It’s that “chase me, I’ll run after you; follow me, I’ll run away from you” kind of situation. Most of the times they met under unexpected circumstances, where they kept having sex, it was a total mistake that only made things worse. I saw how much they weakened themselves by trying to control their feelings… The result, after many ups and downs, was that they got together and had two kids, as always.
I haven't read the first not even the second, but I watched the movies. Since I'm curious and excited to understand their ending, though, I decided to read the last book. It was great! I felt that their connection was strong, but in a completely wrong way, because as a real person, I think there are many things I couldn't overlook, even if I really liked someone, simply because I respect myself and my values. But hey, it's a book, so… hahaha! I felt all the emotions and tension they shared while reading it, which means Mercedes Ron did a great job. The book was easy to follow, and the words were carefully chosen for the right moments—rage, hate, sadness, love, friendship, joy, and so much more. Mission accomplished for Mercedes Ron’s first book I’ve read.

TOPICS
I read all kinds of books, though politics and detective stories are generally not my top picks, unless the story really grabs me. I usually read in the original language, but sometimes I also enjoy reading in French. I love watching movies too, so I might share my thoughts comparing a book to its movie adaptation. I'm sure you'll agree with me when I say that books are almost always better than the movie, but we watch the film to judge for ourselves.
XOXO
