Seeing Andrew from a perspective outside of Neil's is so fascinating because it really demonstrates just how quiet and detached from his surroundings he is. He fades into the background of Jeremy's POV especially, but Jean only notices him a bit more because he cares about Andrew's Exy career and his connection to Kevin and Neil.

Meanwhile when Neil is the narrator, he is sure to inform us of where Andrew is in any given scene and what Andrew is doing. For him, Andrew is the bright spot in every room, and when he is not present Neil feels his absence keenly.

Andrew also actively engages with Neil even when he's not speaking, through eye contact and fidgets and listening when Neil speaks. Pretty much everyone else (apart from Kevin) is ignored. Notice how, for example, the only time Andrew made a point to have a conversation with anyone in California was to ask Jean about Neil getting rid of Grayson.

It's such a brilliant way to show - not tell - how stupidly in love with each other they are.

obsessed with how neil and jeremy are both unreliable narrators but in vastly different ways. neil gives the reader all of the information he considers important and quite literally nothing else. so you get play-by-play recounts of exy games, gruesomely detailed descriptions of his trauma, live-commentated accounts of his conversations with andrew but you have no idea what his real name is. or what he looks like. or what any of the characters look like, for that matter. most of his narration is literally just internal monologue and like 20% of it is actually what's going on in real time. jeremy, on the other hand, only gives the reader unimportant information. hell, not even unimportant just blatantly obvious. it's like you're just standing right next to him as the events are happening cos you have no fucking clue what's going on in his head. he'll comment on jean's good looks, team relationship dynamics, give exact replays of conversations, tell it like it is except you have no idea like the context of any of it. like he recounts his conversation with his sister word-for-word and you still have no idea what any of it means cos he just says that she tells him he ruined her family and then doesn't bother to elaborate at all. iconic behaviour.

andrew in tgr is like: gaydar x1000, silently clocking jeremy and telling renee about it. witness in a murder trial. realizing his bf put a hit out on someone (again) ("typical"). cracking jokes with renee. nearly killing someone for hurting neil. having surgery to fix his broken clavicle. letting aaron drive the mas. quitting smoking so he can be fast enough to save neil next time someone comes for him. like you don't understand this man is barely in the book and he is slaying tremendously the whole entire time

1) made the headcanon that lu guang and cheng xiaoshi were dating in the first timeline and

2) made the headcanon that lu guang is easily flustered by cheng xiaoshi's antics in the first timeline

because you ruined my life,

now i cant stop thinking about how innocent and tender their love was. i cant stop thinking about them meeting each other at the basketball court for the first time. i cant stop thinking about them anticipating the next time they meet at the court. their eyes meeting as they pass each other in the school hallways. their declarations of love and their first kiss.

i cant stop thinking about cheng xiaoshi giving lu guang gifts regularly, and lu guang giving gifts back. i cant stop thinking about the days they spent just coexisting in silence, their comfort space expanding to the two of them. i cant stop thinking about the endless conversations that fall out of cheng xiaoshi, and how lu guang would listen and remember every single word and detail from him. i cant stop thinking about every time they saw either one hurt, theyd drop everything to make sure the other is okay.

i cant stop thinking about cheng xiaoshi holding lu guang, and how lu guang would initially get flustered before slowly getting used to it. how lu guangs cold skin would be warmed by the skin of cheng xiaoshi's. how his body would feel unfamiliar without cheng xiaoshi touching him. how they look at each other as they share their first times together.

i cant stop thinking about cheng xiaoshi convincing lu guang to move in with him. i cant stop thinking about the dates, the shared meals, the boba teas, the sunsets and sunrises they watched together. i cant stop thinking about how happy they were, how clueless they were, how much lu guang had smiled the moment cheng xiaoshi entered his life.

i cant stop thinking about lu guangs reaction when it dawns on him that cheng xiaoshi, the first and final love of his life, was dying in his arms so suddenly, the promises cheng xiaoshi made to spend his future with him by his side shattering as he watches the life from cheng xiaoshi's eyes fade.

oh, to have love like that.

i could never be normal about chiscara, like ik they are very unlikely lore wise but idgaf!!!

pre irminsul arc they’re two people who find love and warmth in such a cold environment. the fatui are a distinctly distant organization, and the harbingers are clearly not very close (eg. childe and arlechinno voicelines ab eachother). the only thing connecting each of them is the mutual goal of collecting the gnoses for the tsaritsa, but the way they all go about this is vastly different from each other, and this connection can be rather weak when compared to their personal goals, usually treated as a sort of after thought in a lot of the later archon quests (and clearly some of them js don’t gaf ab the tsaritsa *cough* scara defection).

so i really like the idea of chiscara connecting despite this, and also the thought that they have to sneak around about it too. obviously, they’re not exactly *good* for each other. they’re fatui harbingers, both with more than a few screws loose. but they’re still capable of caring for each other nonetheless.

considering their situation, and the two of them as people with their baggage and all that, i doubt they ever got past a weird sort of fwb-situationship-not-dating-but-probably-in-love relationship, but i still think they were somewhat aware of their mutual romantic feelings, they would js never label it.

post irminsul arc, i think about them two ways.

obviously in canon-verse, they’re doomed. childe is born and of teyvat, he’s not gonna be going against teyvat’s founding principles and remembering scara so easily. he’d need someone to tell him, either the traveler or scara, and both are unlikely to do so. the traveler would js not know to, and scara isn’t the type to seek childe out.

in this case i see scara silently yearning like crazy for a man who doesn’t even remember who he is. it’s interesting, as even when they were ‘together,’ scara was constantly telling himself how bad of an idea this was, and here he is now suffering the consequences. their love was real at some point, but scara is doomed to be the only one to remember it. it’ll eat him up from the inside out until he forces himself to move on. if childe decides to visit sumeru at some point, maybe for fun, maybe on business, they might talk, and it would all hurt that much more.

however, through some weird canon-divergence shenanigans, i can see post-irminsul chiscara, in a world where childe somehow remembers, building a proper relationship of sorts. they could never have a perfectly ‘normal’ relationship, childe’s still a fatui harbinger, but they could have some semblance of a cute domestic life when childe’s off work. i’m thinking rare mornings waking up together, and scara reluctantly introducing childe to sethos, only for them to get on so well and cause him both a headache and for his heart to swell. i see scara, childe and nahida sharing a meal together, nahida listening intently to childe talking about his family, and later nahida telling scara that she’s happy for him. they could one day visit childe’s family together, and scara would feel out of place but slowly adjust to all the many children around him. i think teucer would adore him, maybe even more than childe, which would drive him crazy. scara would hold it over his head constantly, and they’d bicker and kiss afterwards. the two of them could love each other properly, they’d get a second chance post-irminsul. all that has to happen is for childe to remember.

the strangest thing to me about the BSD fandom is the fact that the vast majority of people in it are dazai fans, while also consistently assuming the absolute worst of him, disregarding the circumstances around his actions and giving him no grace or consideration of his situation whatsoever.

there's no doubt dazai is a bad person in many ways. he did plenty of unjustifiable, inexcusable things. he's pathologically manipulative with a totally skewed moral compass, most of which was undoubtedly brought on by his upbringing in the mafia. but at the same time, i see such a huge number of people taking that and somehow ending up with - and vehemently defending - this idea that he's a remorseless, indifferent, innately cruel person by nature?

are we forgetting this is the same dazai who was forced to false-witness a murder at fourteen years old? the same dazai who already wracked up numerous suicide attempts barely out of his pre-teens?the same dazai who was referred to by everyone around him as a 'demon' at fifteen years old? the same dazai consistently described as having grief-filled, empty expressions and detached, vacant reactions to practically everything when he was so young? the same dazai that oda described as "a child crying in the dark, alone, left to fend for himself with a hole in his heart as large as the world itself"?

that dazai is an indifferent, heartless, innately psychopathic person? really? i'm not convinced.
