Recently I watched Dhoni's speech after winning the IPL final match. He said the key to their success was that every player knew what their role was and what their team and captain expected from them. That made things very simple and as he didn't have to tell them what to do repeatedly. As a leader, you need to ensure that your team members exactly do what you expect them to do. Leaders who show a consistent, strong work ethic will help set the standard that employees are expected to uphold. By showing your employees, you are reliable and trustworthy you lead by example. Choose your words carefully.    
Your words can inspire someone or tire someone. Choose your words wisely when you talk to your team members as every word should encourage others. Great leaders never put anyone down with their words. Rephrase words like

Would you like to be successful in your profession? I ask these questions in my corporate training programs, and the answer is always a definite and loud "YES." The reality though is very different. Many people are not successful in their professions though they want to be. The reason being that they don't work hard to be successful in their job. Any we buy has to be the absolute top product in the market. We want the best TV, Air Conditioners, Cars, clothes. We want the most nutritious food, eat at the most luxurious restaurants, our vacations should give us the biggest bang for the buck. Now let us ask, am I the best in my profession? Dear friend, whether you like it or not you have to best at your work. You are part of an organization, and you have to excel and make an impact. You need to enjoy what you do as you allocate a minimum of 10 hours a day daily to your work. “Being best at work has become a necessity of this generation.” Now let’s explore three ways how you can be successful in your profession. 1. Become an expert in your field.

Becoming an expert isn't going to happen overnight. Spend an hour daily or 5 hours a week learning about new developments in your area. Three easy ways of doing that are: Studying: Read books, do online courses, attend college, watch informational videos, attend seminars and training programs, learn from other experts within the field. Practice: Try to implement what you are learning. For example, if you are a website designer start creating websites on your own. Present: It's essential to showcase your knowledge. Feeling lonely
Your loved one blamed or criticized you
Ego with your wife or husband
Your mom or dad scolding you
A misunderstanding with your friend
None of them help you in your family

Worry, fear, cry or feel upset?
If you closely observe what happens in your thought process you will realise that the same thing repeats again and again.  That situation or thoughts of that person keep’s returning.  Now let’s understand one important thing,
Human beings are emotional beings.

Emotions: it’s a chemical reaction in the brain that is triggered by outside events.
We have 6 primary emotions such as Anger, Fear, Happiness, Sadness, Surprise and Disgust. All other emotions flow out from these only.
Now when you have a bad day in your relationship there are two things that happen,
You will get the same thought again & again.
The thought will trigger one of the above emotions.
If you don’t handle this it will ruin your life.
Let’s see what to do.
   You can have control over your thoughts through “ Breath “
Slow down your breathing. If you concentrate on slowing down your breathing, you can reduce your thoughts. When your thoughts are reduced your emotions become neutral, there you must ask one question,
What could I learn from this experience?
There is a saying “Every experience you go through in your life strengths you “
For example, if you are feeling lonely, take 5 deep breaths (It reduces your thoughts). Then ask, what could I learn from this experience?

I am not spending much time with my loved ones. Now create a plan on how you can spend more time with them.
The answer may differ from person to person but the question remains same.
Handle your bad day in your relationships by following the steps given below.
Reduce your repetitive thoughts about the event or person by taking 5 deep breath or more deep breath.
Once the repetitive thought reduced similarly emotions also are neutralized.
Ask what I could learn from this experience or from that person?
Take action on the learning.

How to meditate for peaceful life

Meditation doesn't involve concentration, focus, exercise or mental effort. It is all about "thoughtful awareness." We are always in two minds about things. One part of us says to do something, and the other part stops us from doing it. What is good and bad for you can be realized by meditating and in such dilemmas, we will know how to train our mind to take the right decision. How to meditate (Simple Meditation)

Sit in a comfortable position.
Close your eyes and take three deep breaths. Let your thoughts come and go.
Start to visualize a particular object-for example, a rose.
Start repeating the name of the object over and over, which is this case is 'rose,' at any speed or rhythm.
As you continue to repeat the word, start to imagine the rose opening and closing in the same rhythm.
If other thoughts come into your mind, let them pass through. Continue to repeat your word and see its image. (Often, worries of the day, like "what shall I have for dinner" or "I have three exams to study for," will flow through your mind to distract you.)
Practice this process from two to twenty minutes.
Then gently open your eyes slowly.
You should feel relaxed, refreshed, and less anxious after trying this technique.

How can you improve your rate of success when your confidence is low? You can’t reach the stars if you are holding on to the ground.  So do the following:
Think before you act
Stay focused
Prepare thoroughly
Defeat the fear of failure
Be confident about yourself
Debrief continuously
Stay positive
Indulge yourself.
Be kind to yourself.
Psyche yourself up
How do you do the above? Simulators are used to train pilots and surgeons so that they know how to respond in real life situations. So simulate for your purposes: e.g., how will that meeting with your boss work out when you ask for a promotion, or how your speech will go, or how that big match is going to pan out.  Automatically, you will feel ready to face all the challenges and be sure of success. Approaching anything with that kind of attitude is far more likely to bring about a positive result than being timid or afraid – or worse, not trying at all.

You have to silence your critics – literally.  If people around you are constantly undermining your confidence by telling you or making you feel like you are no good, you need to get away from them.  Don’t weigh yourself down with negativity –it’s very exhausting after a while.  Draw strength and encouragement from supportive people.  Its also why people like to psyche themselves up with rousing MUSIC. The other critic you need to silence is the one inside your head; the little devil on your shoulder who keeps filling you with self-doubt.   "Self-talk" comes to your rescue over here. “Come on I can do it!    Can’t wait!     Let's go!   I’ll show them.” The above phrases will go a long way in boosting up your self-esteem and make you confident enough to conquer your dreams.

5 Healthy Morning Habits to Transform Your Life

The best way to start a great day is by forming morning routines. I have mentioned five healthy morning habits that I have which if you follow, you too can create an extraordinary life. 1. Wake up early I wake up at 4.30 a.m. every day, which gives me enough time to be more productive and feel good. One thing I observe when I wake up at 4.30 a.m. is that I feel good about myself. Feeling good about oneself is a great way to start the day. Some wake up between 7 to 10 a.m. and feel very lethargic. They sleep late because of various reasons like going late to bed, drinking caffeinated beverages before going to bed, using mobile while in the bed etc. The best way to wake up early is to go to bed early.
2. Exercise If you’re not taking care of your health, you’re not fit enough to take care of your life. I believe in this strongly because I consider our health is the greatest gift from God. Our body may feel like a brand new car for the first 25 years, but even a new car has to be serviced every six months if not it too will give a lot of trouble. Similarly, our body too. No matter what happens do 30 minutes of any regular exercise that suits your body. Please make sure to do yoga, jogging, walking, aerobics, gym or Zumba whichever suits your body. Because physical exercise will develop discipline in you.
3. Thinking about your goal Every successful person will spend five minutes every day to think about their goal. Let me give you one simple tip on how I practice this. Whatever we have in this world at this time, somebody has asked for it and we are enjoying it today. Asking is the best way to get what we want. Ask this question and you will get an answer. What can I BE or DO or HAVE to achieve my goal? Keep asking, you will get an answer from your inner voice, then take action.
4. Affirmations Affirmations are simple and useful. This is how you take conscious control of your thoughts. They are short, powerful statements. When you say them or think them or even hear them, they become the thoughts that create your reality. The best five affirmations to tell yourself are,
I am best at what I do
I am happy, healthy, wealthy & successful
I am energetic
I can do it
Today is my best day
5. Meditation Meditation is the practice of silencing the mind, and mornings are a particularly good time to do it. Its many benefits include improved concentration, better health, and increased knowledge of self. How to do very simple and powerful meditation- Sit in a comfortable place, while inhaling and exhaling focus on your breath, if any thoughts come don’t allow them, bring back your attention on the breath do it for 15 minutes you will see that miracles start to happen in your life.

The Willpower Exercise will help you to keep mentally strong
Roy Baumeister, one of the leading researchers in this field, thinks that willpower is like a muscle. Exercising a muscle in the short-term leads to its exhaustion. In the long-term, though, exercising a muscle causes it to grow. In fact, there is substantial evidence that of exercising your willpower, though temporarily depleting, means that it will be stronger in the long run. So push yourself to do things that you feel are hard. Exercise your willpower muscle to get more of it.

Examples of strengthening your WillPower
Start walking backward.
If right-handed start eating using your left hand and vice versa.
Solving tough puzzles.
Resist the urge to express emotions while watching movies. For example, resist the urge to laugh during a funny movie and cry during a sad movie.
Eat fruits the entire day.
Complete 50 sit-ups a day.
Don't watch TV for a week.
Practicing silence (Not speaking entire day with anyone).
Work on posture ( Sit in a chair with both feet on the floor)
Carry out something tempting. ( chocolate but not eating)
Visit a shopping mall and don't make any purchases.
Taking a new route to reach your home.
Shaving with your nondominant hand left or right.
Cooking a new dish
Pick a new exercise like the above every day and practice doing something challenging for the next 30 days. It will make you mentally strong and help you strengthen your willpower muscle.

How trivial decisions can impact your performance
Hello and Welcome!
Have you been standing in front of your dress wardrobe and thinking what to wear?
Have you stood at the dinner table wondering what to eat?

What’s happening to your brain while you are in such situations? In my previous articles, I have mentioned that the prefrontal cortex is involved in all your decision making. The more decisions you make in a day the more mentally fatigued you become by the end of the day and lose your decision making power.  
Dr.Kelly Mcgonigal Health Psychologist from Stanford University says every time you take a decision you lose your decision making power. She suggests making some routine decisions like what to wear, what to eat, what to do today, whether to take a bath in cold water or hot water.  All such decisions should be planned the previous night itself.

During the initial stages of the practice, you will realize that you are more reactive but become more observant as time passes. Then gently open your eyes. The role of the prefrontal cortex is controlling the impulses, emotional reactions, planning, focusing, solving problems, decision making, coordinating and adjusting complex behavior, and even personality development.
Think of the days where because lack of sleep you felt drowsy, less energetic, unable to focus, had to postpone work, gave up to temptations, in short, you felt out of control.  It was your prefrontal cortex.
The prefrontal cortex functions really well when you get enough sleep and the reverse happens when you do not get enough sleep.
Several pieces of research have shown that
Skipping 1 night's sleep makes a person cranky and clumsy.
After missing 2 nights of sleep, a person will have problems thinking and doing things, his or her brain and body can't do their normal tasks nearly as well.
After 5 nights without sleep, a person will hallucinate (this means seeing things that aren't actually there).
Eventually, it becomes impossible for the brain to give its directions to the rest of the body without sleep.
Now knowing the importance of sleep in maintaining your energy and focus throughout the day to achieve your goals, here’s the recommended duration of sleep by the National Sleep Foundation in the U.S.
The recommended amount of sleep as per your age group

Adults 7 to 9 hours
Some of the things to avoid before bed so that you can get a good night’s sleep are:
Watching TV & Movie
Eating a large amount of food
Mobile phone & E-Reading
Drinking Alcohol
Doing Exercise
Consuming Caffeine
Eating Chocolate
Having an argument
Exercise
Changing your sleeping and waking up time frequently
All these activities damage our brain and body if we do this before sleep.
Commit to a minimum of 6 to 8 hours of sleep a day.  Be more energetic and focused and take right actions towards your goal.

Do you know why you fail on your  goals?
Hello and Welcome! Imagine two people joining a gym on the same day with the goal of losing weight. One goes regularly to the gym and three months later is able to reduce 10 kg in weight. But the other one after a few days stopped going to the gym because he started looking for immediate pleasures of watching TV and sleeping, or complained of body pain, or found exercising ‘boring’, basically giving any excuse.

Let me tell you what happened for both of them based on scientific research. More than 40 years ago, Walter Mischel, PhD, a psychologist now at Columbia University, explored self-control in children with a simple but effective test. His experiments using the “marshmallow test,” as it came to be known, laid the groundwork for the modern study of self-control. Mischel and his colleagues presented a preschooler with a plate of treats such as marshmallows. The child was then told that the researcher had to leave the room for a few minutes, after giving the child a simple choice. If the child waited until the researcher returned, she could have two marshmallows. If the child simply couldn’t wait, she could ring a bell and the researcher would come back immediately, but she would only be allowed one marshmallow. These children are tracked for 40 years those who resisted and had two marshmallows did well in their life. Academically they did really well, were financially well to do, had great relationship, they were able to keep their commitment always; they were respected highly in society, they were happy, healthy, and successful.
In children, as well as adults, willpower can be thought of as the basic ability to delay gratification.
What is delayed gratification?

Delaying gratification means resisting short-term temptation in order to get long-term benefits.
Examples of delayed gratification
If you delay the gratification of watching television and read a book related to your profession, you will be an expert in your profession.
If you delay the gratification of buying desserts and chips at the store, then you’ll eat healthier when you get home.
If you delay the gratification of finishing your workout early and put in a few more steps, then you’ll be stronger.
… And many more examples. Success usually comes down to choosing the pain of discipline over the ease of distraction. And that’s exactly what delayed gratification is all about. This brings us to an interesting question:
Do you naturally have more self-control, and thus are destined for success? Or can you learn to develop this important trait? Three steps to develop delayed gratification
Take 5 deep breathe
Remember your goal
Question yourself, Will this help me achieve my goals?
Briefly explained with example - When you see a high sugared dessert and feel like eating it, but your goal is to lose 3kg of weight at the end of this month, Follow these three steps to develop delayed gratification
1. You have to take five deep breaths
When you take deep breaths, your mind becomes calm and peaceful, and the thought of eating the dessert vanishes. 2. Remember your goal
“I want to reduce three kg at the end of this month”. When you remind yourself of the goal you get the power to take right actions towards your goal. 3. Question yourself
Will this help me achieve my goals? Mostly the answer will be No. Psychology says when you say no to anything, mostly you will not do it.
It can be one way to develop your delaying gratification muscle. Take action for better future now. You are extraordinary.

Meditation is the art of silencing the mind and the best time to practice it is in the morning. Its benefits include improved concentration, better health, and increase in one's self-awareness. How does one meditate? The practice is straightforward. Sit down in a place and posture comfortable to you. Start breathing and as you inhale and exhale focus on your breath. If thoughts come into your mind while you meditate, let them flow naturally but keep your attention on your breath. Manjhi, widely known as the Mountain Man, was a poor laborer in Gehlaur village, near Gaya in Bihar, India, living with his wife Falguni Devi. There was a rocky mountain near his village that people either had to climb across or travel 55 km around to gain access to medical care at the nearest town Wazirganj. One day, Manjhi’s wife while crossing Gehlour hills to bring him lunch slipped and seriously injured herself, which eventually led to her death. Manjhi was deeply disturbed and that very night decided to carve a path through the Gehlour hills so that his village could have easier access to medical attention. He started hammering at the hill.  What do you think people thought of him? People called him a lunatic. But that only steeled Manjhi’s resolve further. Not one year, two years or three years, but after 22 years, using only a hammer and chisel combined with back-breaking labor, Manjhi carved a path 360 feet long, 25 feet deep and 30 feet wide.  Manjhi, in fact, had shortened the travel between Atri and Wazirganj of Gaya town from 55 km to 15 km.
Inspiring isn’t it? All he did was a little extra carving of that mountain every day to achieve his dream. Most of us start something new, like joining the gym, learning a new language, saving money, etc., but we give up in between. How can you do things without giving up? Here’s the second technique to master your willpower without giving up: “The Little Extra.”

Change warrants ACTION without which nothing can change.  Are you action oriented?  The human body is a classic example of CHANGE wherein innumerable living cells perform individual ACTIONS to ensure that the body works smoothly.  The woodpecker is a symbol of change through action.  It keeps boring into tree barks with its small beak and gradually manages to cut hardwood into small pieces.  The bird drills with perseverance, knowing it will eventually change its situation for the better. This is how a seemingly huge obstacle can be overcome by bringing change by action.  How else do you think the woodpecker got its name?
