Hello, Sing fandom!

Boy, it's been a hot minute since I opened a post with that one.

A few months ago, I got around to watching both Sing movies with my amazing sister @giftboxxworld, and we ended up staying up 'till about five o'clock just to get to Sing 2's halfway point. It was a night both of us hold close to heart, because it felt like every ten seconds we would pause and analyze a scene or make a funny comment.

I absolutely adore the Sing movies, much more than I ever expected to, and while I have my reasons in checking the films out in the first place, I just had to design my very own Sing self-insert— meet Julia Polaris, a Leucistic opossum who is Porsha Crystal's very canon romantic interest!

I've also noticed that there seems to be a distinct lack of a character relationship chart for the Sing franchise, so I've gone ahead and handcrafted one myself!

You may have seen this on tumblr already, though I assure you, I was the one who created it (Note my signature in the bottom-right corner). If you'd like a template for yourself, DM me and I would be happy to send it to you provided I'm credited for it. 💖

SLN-005: Hydro Man

Height: 6′11" Special Weapon: Hydro Burst Good Point: Kindhearted Bad Point: Naïve Hydro Man, as evident by his aquatic vats and domes present all throughout his exterior, was once a robot that oversaw operations at a large water filtration facility before being recruited into the Synth Legion. He is capable of storing three hundred gallons of water at any given time and can shoot pressurized water out of his arm cannon at two hundred and fifty pounds per square inch. In spite of his towering exterior, Hydro Man is infamously regarded as "the pacifist" of the Synth Legion, only joining in the first place to turn the water filtration facility he operated in into his own personal water park. He is a big fan of all things sanitation, to the point of having multiple bath times a day with his good friend Mr. Ducky, a rubber duck.

SLN-004: Amazon Man

Height: 6'0" Special Weapon: Amazon Wrap Good Point: Heroic Bad Point: Tackles dangerous situations head-on without a second thought Operating deep within the Tenzing Jungle, an enormous treescape in Australia, Amazon Man’s original objective was to venture into parts unknown and bring undiscovered species of animals and flora to light. It was when Synth recruited him into the Synth Legion that the Tenzing Jungle became an enemy base of operations that Amazon Man swore to protect with his very life. Amazon Man uses the large leaves on his back to camouflage himself before seeking out his prey with his detachable Python Buster, which can deplete all of a robot’s life energy within a few minutes. Amazon Man, while not necessarily an introvert, enjoys the seclusion of jungles worldwide, and is a friend to all species that roam them. In addition to his unending heroism, he is a quite notable for his incredibly thick Australian accent.

SLN-003: Satellite Woman

Height: 5'8" Special Weapon: Reflect Satellite Good Point: Intelligent Bad Point: Reserved Within the top ranks of the Space Surveillance Network, the astute Satellite Woman designs and tests satellite services in a top-secret base exactly one hundred parsecs away from Earth. Always equipped with the most recent satellite models on her back, Satellite Woman gains an extra edge in battle with her reflective satellites, which can reflect any projectile. When her defense isn’t cutting it, her one of a kind satellite buster is capable of shooting hazardous lasers that can cut through titanium. In the times she’s not in battle, she oversees operations of the Space Surveillance Network, meeting up with Astro Man for data reports every now and then. Due to her smart nature, she is a natural problem-solver, but dislikes being put on the spot. With her impressive agility and quick wit, she makes for an out of this world foe!

SLN-002: Geyser Man

Height: 7'6" Special Weapon: Chain Geyser Good Point: Honorable Bad Point: Unintentionally hazardous A towering robot modeled after volcanic eruption, Geyser Man was initially in charge of monitoring the characteristics of crypto-domes and hotspots before being armed for battle by Synth, a rogue military robot with a drive to amass a powerful army of unstoppable robots dubbed the ‘SLN’ (The Synth Legion Numbers). In spite of appearing as a power-hungry giant, Geyser Man believes in a fair battle, but his internally stored magma can reach up to temperatures of 3,000 F, so he often begins with the upper hand. His antagonistic side notwithstanding, Geyser Man is a highly dependable robot who loves hot springs and often goes on vacations to sight see volcanoes with Magma Man.

SLN-001: Zap Man

Height: 6'4" Special Weapon: Zap Chaser Good Point: Attentive Bad Point: Hotheaded Zap Man, a robot originally built for electricity plant inspection, talks big and stands bigger. With a glass dome constantly exerting five hundred thousand gigawatts, his electricity is easily the most dangerous out of any of Mega Man’s previous shocking foes, able to cause blackouts at a moment’s notice. True to his no-nonsense nature, Zap Man grows impatient easily and does not take well to impotence. In his spare time, he tours electricity plants across the globe, harshly critiquing each one to the point of growing so furious that he’ll subject the entire town to a power outage.

A Fifth Blogiversary Heart-to-Heart

Hello!

Um... wow, it really has been about half a year since I've last posted here, hasn't it? Granted, I've never actually left tumblr— I've still been liking various posts and even posting some of my art on a handful of alts— but, yeah, I haven't been focusing on tumblr full-time since last October.

But I couldn't miss the five year anniversary of this blog, now could I?

I've composed posts in the past celebrating my previous 'blogiversaries' as I've dubbed them, and forgive me if I've made this point in any of them, though joining this site really has changed my life for the better. If not for the family I've met here (Looking at you, @wandering-coast, @stephysalcido, @giftboxxworld, @panurei-derogatory, @minxxikuo and one very special blog who I've chosen to kept anonymous for their sake— you know who you are <333), I genuinely don't know where I'd be right now.

As I've mentioned in my previous post, for the first time ever, I decided to shift gears posting to another website, Bluesky, without closing up shop on the site I'd previously been posting on. I'd amassed just as many followers over there in a month or two than it's taken me to amass on this site (Boy, that's humbling), though I'm willing to bet that that's 'cause it was during the big 'migration' from the site that has no place on my blog (It goes by a single letter now. Q, I think).

For a couple months, I kind of preferred it over there. I absolutely despise the fact that your follower count is right there on your page instead of tucked away in a sidebar like on here, but other than that, it felt nicer. And the site's head honcho, to my knowledge, isn't a raging transphobe (Unlike some head honchos whose name rhymes with 'whiny brat' around here)!

But something just wasn't clicking. I'm not ashamed to admit I posted some of my more recent (Well, then-recent) works over there, and they served to be way bigger hits. Most of my art was this way for a little while, but at one point that all just... stopped. Works I poured hours into would barely be worthy of double-digit likes, and given that I could always see when somebody stopped following me...

Well, that was kind of a death blow.

This isn't something I like to talk about publicly, though I suffer from extreme RSD (Rejection sensitivity disorder), and even the slightest hint of a critique or the feeling of being forgotten or left behind can cause me enough distress that one time it caused actual physical pain.

I'm telling you this because that is one of the reasons I kind of fizzled out of posting here. Of course, if you recall when I stopped posting here, you'll know there are other reasons, but I just felt like I peaked sometime in 2023 or something and it's just been kind of downhill ever since.

Call it hyperbolic, but I've had RSD bouts so bad that I'm starting to wonder if my work even has a place online anymore. If I feel like I'm posting to a brick wall half the time, then what is it for? Especially since sometimes even I don't like what I create? I thought that would change over on Bluesky, but ultimately, no dice.

So... yeah. I had to step away from tumblr because I was ashamed over how many of my posts were just DOA and that I was just wasting my time. But that doesn't mean I'm going to give up. Lord knows I have almost given up at least three separate occasions between then and now, though through those hardships I've learned a very valuable lesson:

It's not about creating for others: it's about creating for you. If you are happy with what you create, that is all that matters.

Sometimes, I'm not exactly proud of what I create... but the times where I am far outweigh them. In the time I've been away, I've been hard at work on my project Door2Door, and I certainly have a lot of art pertaining to it to post over on @door2door-official, its own side blog. Moreover, since November, I've also drawn a few things that I'm quite proud of, and... you know, I think I'm ready to post some of it here.

Given this site's reputation, I can't say for how long I'll be sticking around, nor can I guarantee that I'll be as frequent as I was half a decade ago... though, as for the former, I'd like to see if I can hit an even, square ten years of Coolness.

To round this TED Talk off on a positive note, I think you'll find the selection on my RedBubble storefront has increased tenfold; there are over a hundred designs over there now! Here are just a few of my favorites.

TLDR: Consider this a soft return to form; I'll be posting more at my own pace rather than posting to 'make a quota'. Follow my Door2Door sideblog if you can, as I will be posting plenty there in the months to come.

Hello, everyone! This is going to be a bit of a different post than what you've been seeing lately— it's nothing incredibly serious, though it is something I would like to make my followers aware of, and if you've gotten this far in the post, I kindly ask you read on.

Please check below the cut for an announcement pertaining to how I wish to be addressed going forward, some notes as to how I chose what has become my true name, and a very special big break surprise near the end! 🏳️‍⚧️✨

Those of you who have known me since the start of 2023 may know that I am a transgender woman. I came out publicly near the end of March of that year, though I had known of my trans identity long before then... and even before that, when I still identified as genderfluid, I preferred a female identity as early as July of 2022.

Even now, well over a year and a half later, I'm still discovering things about myself, which to me is just incredibly fascinating. Though one thing has remained a constant since even the earliest days of my transition process: my name.

Sure, I've chosen a new last name for myself, that being Vandenburg, though for the longest time I stuck with my birth name, Micah, as I found it to be inoffensive, unique, and even gender neutral.

Those who may be a bit closer to me outside of tumblr will know I've, at the very least, experimented with different names. One that I was certain was going to stick was Noelle, chosen affectionately after the Deltarune character of the same name, though while I liked being addressed with that name, it was just... another alias, ultimately.

Quinn is another one I use even today, though only seasonally. It's another one of those names that work for either gender, and longtime followers will know the name belongs to my beloved plague doctor sona, who recently got a transfeminine glow-up last year.

Though nothing, strangely, stuck. And for a while, I was fine by just going by Micah. It's not a bad name, and it pairs well with my preferred last name. It's still hard to grasp that there was once a period where I intended on keeping that name, and that period extended into the beginning months of this year.

And then, Julia Brain happened.

If there's a fictional character that steals my heart, they either fall into one of two camps; my fondness for them starts to grow after I learn more about their source material, or I see them before I even know what their source material is and as a result have a new hyperfixation.

I sat through ninety-nine episodes, a feature length film and seven reboot episodes of Animaniacs just to see Julia. I hadn't obsessed over a fictional character like I had with Julia near the start of this year— which still feels like a lifetime ago— for a very long time. My self-ship blog still hasn't even seen the 5k+ word analysis document I wrote on her yet.

And for a brief period, she was just a fictional other and nothing more. But on the last day of February— mere days after I heard Julia's voice for the first time— I tried something that I first anticipated to only last for a few months.

I started going by Julia.

Five letters... rhymes with the name I had been using... and a great deal more feminine, too. But there was one thing the name Julia had that the name Micah, no longer, did; it felt right. I haven't gone back to the latter since, and honestly... I think that I'm finally ready to make the change final.

My name is Julia Vandenburg of StarDestroyer81 fame.

So, why am I telling you all this? Well, I just wanted to make everyone aware of the name change, is all. In some respects, you could call this post the final send-off to my previous name... though I personally wouldn't. That send-off has already happened, and the final use of my previous name is exactly where I wanted it to be...

In the credits for Rivals of Aether 2.

I never thought I would be fortunate enough to have my name in the credits of anything, let alone in the sequel to the game that was my entire deal on tumblr for over a year, though seeing as I chose for that name to be used in the credits before I started going by Julia... to me, that is that name's true final usage.

This post ended up being a lot longer than I first thought. Though, at the very least, I do hope it made for a good read and that those who made it this far will choose to honor the name I've chosen for myself. 💙🏳️‍⚧️✨

Rivals of Aether 2 just released last Wednesday, and I can say with 100% certainty that I have found myself back where I once was in 2021— obsessing over the franchise all over again!

To celebrate getting to see my number one blorbo Clairen back in action, I thought it would be nice to revisit my very first sheep sona's design and update her look accordingly... witness the new and improved Psycha Lumair of Lovers of Aether fanon fame, girlypop extraordinaire! 🏳️‍⚧️✨
