I was thinking about it at work and yknow what would be really depressing is if Sabo considered Dragon to be a father figure to him but never told him so, and simultaneously Dragon thought of Sabo like a son but never told him so, and they never reveal that detail to the other because they both think they "don't deserve" to be a father or be a son. Like "Dragon's got more important things to worry about AND he has an ACTUAL son, he doesn't need me being a pest, I'm just a military asset" while Dragon just "i have raised this child from the age of ten and watched him grow he is as much my son as my own flesh and blood but I have absolutely no right to call myself his father, or anyone's father for that matter".

I hate them both so much.

To continue my Odasaku flavored thoughts from this morning, I think one huge disservice the fandom in general tends to do to him is that he gets reduced down to this morally upstanding beacon of goodness, selfless and loving father of five, when that's not even slightly close to reality? His moral code was basically incomprehensible to anyone but himself, he was a weird freak by all accounts. Wish more people would acknowledge that.

And both of them have gone to all the amusement parks. They have tried most of the new foods. Surely ADA! Dazai, who's now an adult, can be a better father for a child ... He reads books to his child every night. He takes them to school in the mornings and after school, they talk to each other all the way.

Piggy back rides! Nothing is as enjoyable for Dazai as the sound of your child's laughter. Dazai, gives all the joys that he didn't have as a child to his child... And I have to say, this kid is really lucky! Except of the ADA members, the PM members also love them.

That's right, I'm talking about Akutagawa Ryunosuke ... Maybe he breaks up a little at first, but after a while, he follows your child and then, he completely falls in love with them ... "Dazai-senpai's child! (0///////0)" They may be the only child who can melt Akutagawa's heart like this. Especially the day that they called Akutagawa, a "handsome and strong man". Atsushi and Akutagawa are always fighting to get your child's attention... But your child still loves his father more.

Hello, here I am again for a Wattpad request, who gave me the green light for the topic as long as I included Tecchou and Sigma. And here it is!

So I've decided to write about a subject I've had in the back of my mind for a long time: how do the characters react when the reader accidentally calls them dad/mum?

I wish you an excellent read!

Chuuya

- Very different reactions depending on the situation you are in. 

- If you are with other people, poor Chuuya will simply turn as red as a tomato, totally embarrassed, especially if Dazai's there and he starts banging out the laugh of his life. 

- But if the two of you are alone, it is up to Chuuya to start laughing unstoppably.

Dazai

- Probably the worst reaction of all. He simply laughs and rolls on the floor.

- You can be sure he will be raging at you with this for a long time, introducing you as his child to other people.

Atsushi 

- Benevolent to a fault, he smiles gently as he points out your mistake. A darling.

- Just do not let other people be around when you slip...

Sigma

- Remains motionless for several seconds, totally unprepared. 

- Eventually, however, he starts to blush, too, completely embarrassed, even though it is just the two of you.

Tecchou

- He, too, remains motionless for quite some time, with a neutral expression. 

- Very down-to-earth, he simply points out (obviously) that he is not your father...

- As if you did not know. At least he does not start laughing, like some...

- I am pretty sure this has already happened to some people (like Ranpo, for instance), so it is not Fukuzawa who is going to make fun of you, that's for sure.

- It is not even certain that he will correct you, used as he is to being called dad by the members of his Agency.

- He is probably already used to being called dad by the orphans he has taken in, is he not?

- Well, sure, he will sit there for a while and do nothing, but at least he will not be making fun of you, HIM.

- Anyway... He is the ultimate manga dad, is he not?

Fyodor 

- All right, then. If you are all alone, there is a good chance you will be able to make up for the disaster.

- Because, if Nikolai or someone else of the same ilk is present, you can be sure that your social life is ruined for good.

- As for Fyodor, I think he will simply be astonished, then shake his head with a small smile (which does not bode well, though...).

Thoughts on Bonney and her situation? I feel so bad for her… :[

oda has always been really good at introducing information about characters through their backstories that recontextualizes a lot of their behavior in hindsight, and i think bonney is maybe one of the most skillfully done examples of this in the whole comic.

i started suspecting some time before reaching her backstory that she might be younger than she generally appears, because it struck me as consistently odd how everyone on egghead seemed to mention knowing her as a child and how fast she’d grown up, but having that information confirmed in her flashback completely changes her as a character in a way i find really compelling and fun.

like, throughout egghead i have been mentally comparing bonney a lot to law. from the start she’s playing a similar role as he does in the dressrosa saga, as the arc’s supernova ally-of-circumstance, and the similarities between them only grow deeper as we learn more about her history and motivations. bonney is really similar to law in a lot of ways; she aligns herself with the strawhats while on a revenge quest for the death of her adoptive father, who sacrificed himself in order to cure her of her childhood terminal illness.

the main difference, of course, is that bonney is twelve.

she’s twelve! and she was ten before the timeskip. which means she’s about as old in the present of the story (10-12) as law was in his flashback (10-13), or as ace and sabo were in the post-marineford flashback (10); that’s the age and maturity level she’s at. she’s twelve years old and she misses her dad. her tragedy is fresh and recent and she hasn’t quite grown around it yet, and she still has her whole future ahead of her.

i really liked the reveal that her devil fruit basically relies on her being a kid with a big imagination full of infinite possibilities. it’s very thematically resonant with her role as the emotional and narrative core of the arc set on egghead, the island of the future. any future she envisions for herself she can make real!

related to this, she also relates to religion and myth like a child does, where it all may as well be real because anything still could be. when kuma tells her about nika, she envisions someone who’s really somewhere out there in the world who she could find. the sun’s in the sky- maybe they’ll find him up on the sky islands?

and the thing is that she’s right!

bonney is a kid and the futures she dreams become real, because her ability to imagine the impossible hasn’t yet been beaten into submission by the horrible weight of reality. saturn tries to break her spirit and depower her before he kills her by crushing her ability to picture any future for herself, and it almost works.

and then there’s nika, and everything becomes possible again.

This panel must be the most messed up one so far in this chapter, because as Kuma sees his Dad singing the Nika drum rythme and tries to cheer him up, a second later he gets shot right in front of him with a double barreled gun. Yep, they kill his only source of emotional support right in front of his eyes and he can't even process what happened in front of him. Why? Because the song he was singing is "too annoying"...

⮑ Is there such thing as classy cuddles? Because he gives classy cuddles.

⮑ The word I’d use for him in a relationship is classy, I can’t help it. But I do mean classy in a good way. Physical affection with him started off small, and he allowed you to pace when you were ready for more. I also see him as someone who always has an arm around you, either over your shoulders or on your waist.

⮑ He keeps pda to a minimum, he won’t cuddle you in public, especially in front his co workers. He’s an executive and he takes it serious. I also don’t think he’d want to show you as his weakness, he wouldn’t want you to get hurt.

⮑ Cuddling with Chuuya is oddly nice. Oddly because he seems rough on the outside. He is very rarely little spoon during cuddle sessions, he feels insecure. But he makes up for it, he’s a great big spoon. He’s a warm, very very warm. I can actually picture you in between his legs cuddling him while he has a wine glass in his hand. Now a many things could happen, one of you is talking, or you’re watching something. Either way, it works well with him.

⮑ The downside is he isn’t home much for cuddles. He’s either away for jobs or at work. So unless you’re willing to sit in his lap while he does paperwork, you don’t get your cuddles.

⮑ 7/10, very good cuddles …when you get them.

⮑ I just want to know how you managed to touch him in the first place.

⮑ Everyone always says he is touch adverse, which I completely agree, but then people usually say that when it comes down to it he hates it and stuff like that. I have to disagree. I think he’s terrified of it yes, he grew up without any form of physical love, but I do think deep down he yearns for it. He craves it and, when he finally gives in, his entire meticulously built wall completely shatters. Which is how I wonder, how’d you manage it?

⮑ I won’t lie, I believe behind closed doors once he’s comfortable with cuddling or touch and he’s quite clingy. You just feel so warm and well— safe. I can promise you though, it will only be behind closed doors. Do not try to be physically affectionate in public, especially in front of his coworkers. At least not for a very long time.

⮑ I like to imagine that after a time, with lots of reassurance about his ability, he will pull you into cuddles with rashomon. Which, I feel like he’d be bad about verbally asking for affection so he’d do that instead. It’s easier on his illness to use his ability.

⮑ Speaking of his illness sadly, it can make cuddling tough. One moment you could be resting in his arms and the next he’s having a nasty coughing fit. There’s been times when he’s be insecure about his illness and not want to be touched anymore.

⮑ 4/10, I love my baby but his illness + his traumas it’s hard for him to be physically affectionate.

⮑ He takes care of orphans therefore I am a firm believer he knows how to cuddle.

⮑ I mean it too, he takes care of kids physically and emotionally, he’s got dad hugs. If anyone is gonna hold you and it make you feel safe and taken care of, it’s him. And he knows it too. And he has a six sense for when you need cuddling. And sometimes you end up in a cuddle pile with the kids. I don’t make the rules.

⮑ Oda is 50/50 with pda, he doesn’t mind it, especially if it’s something you love. But it does worry him, like Chuuya, he’s afraid of showing you as a weakness and you getting hurt or killed. But if it’s safe, he usually sticks to holding your hand or holding your waist. I can see him holding you close with your heads rested in each others shoulders while at a public theater.

⮑ Private cuddles are common and comfortable. Oh and he’s always the big spoon. He’s always holding you, I don’t really see him as the type to be held.

⮑ 9/10 you can feel all the care in his arms.
