❤️ My dream of what I want to be one day ❤️
I dream of a beautiful girl. This beautiful girl will be me at the l0west we!ght I’ve ever been at. It starts with a simple d!et, that turns into a die-t. that’s what I want to happen, so everyone will be concerned for me. I’ve been holding hands with 4n4 and I won’t let go this time. I want my b0nes, every single b0ne, to be seen, felt and looked at. I want everyone from high school that did me wrong to view me as a v!ctim of my own mental illness and to see my b0nes, hear my soft voice, wish I was better, but to me, nothing will ever be better then being s!ckly to the point of ☠️, I don’t want the tubes, the clinics or any help at all. now being 19, I can deny help all I want. So when I get to my l0west we!ght and Everyone, everywhere will be looking at me as I walk down the streets with size 000 jeans. Ill be s!co but it will be what makes me happy. I don’t want to be f@t anymore, when I past the 200’s I know I would have to change - Elizabeth

目次【もくじ】 ・ Table of Contents
Here’s the one and only way to safely navigate this blog!
I’ll be updating this table of contents as I add things to the blog, and make it as clear and understandable as possible so no one has to go through the thousands of pages of kanji just to find one particular post.
On browser, the search bar at the top seems to only work by pressing the ‘Enter’ key and not by clicking on the little magnifying glass next to it. Under the search bar there are little icons that link to all kanji cards (sun), all vocabulary lists (star), all grammar lessons (moon) and my diary / study log posts (cloud).
About me
Bibliography
Kanji
I’ve ordered all kanji by levels, and in each level by lessons in my kanji books and on WaniKani. Each kanji on each page links to a kanji card. The kanji cards first show the meaning and pronunciation as I first learn them on WaniKani, and under cut I’ll put some more info on them like radicals making up the kanji, different readings, other meanings etc... The More Kanji! post lists kanji that were not in the JLPT lists. They are ordered by frequency and I’ll be adding to this list as I study.
All kanji lists should look fine on both browser and mobile (apart for a few little things that I’m not sure how to fix).
I’m currently having troubles with the radicals’ list as not all of them are showing properly, I’ll upload it when I find a way to fix this.

Vocabulary
I’ll be creating lists as I’m studying. Most of these lists will be linked to the grammar lessons. They are not meant to be learnt by heart (as this isn’t useful at all for learning a language); personally I’ll be using them as memo to go back to when I’m looking for a specific word.

Japanese Lessons
I’ll be reviewing the books I used when studying at university (Parlons Japonais), the lessons will contain grammar points, vocabulary and some personal practice (which means there can be mistakes, please feel free to point them out if something sounds strange / isn’t right). I’ll use almost exclusively Japanese in these posts.

Manga
All the manga I read in Japanese, I’ll be listing all the vocabulary I don’t know in them, hopefully these lists will get shorter as I keep studying! (little warning: most of them are going to be BL (yaoi), since they’re almost the only ones I have in Japanese.)

*This is my first of (hopefully) many Japanese diary entries! They’re just meant to be a practice, but if anyone has any corrections/suggestions to offer, I’d love to hear them!*

the-lady-of-the-blue replied to your post “Can I ask when did you start to learn Japanese? Because even though...”
That's insane. I have studied for four years both in a school setting and by myself and I can't translate anything. My level is still pretty much kore wa pen desu. I just took jlpt N4 last year and I barely passed even though I should be on a much higher level based on how long I've studied, but I struggle with pretty much every aspect of the language except pronounciation and that's because my native language's pronounciation is also very similar to Japanese. I ran out of space. Maybe we're actually from the same country, heh. What study materials do you use, other than heisig? Books, websites , apps? Anything. I could always use recommendations
I learned german in school for years and I can’t say a word in german. xd I think you need a lot of motivation to learn any language. Actively using it might be the fastest way to learn. Listening and trying to translate did the job for me. Maybe if you try using japanese, like start writing a diary, that can boost your progress. My friend learned english this way. Oh, maybe we are, from the same language family at least.
Hm, well.. The apps I used for a short period of time when I just started out:  - Write it! Japanese - for learning kana  - Duolingo - it teaches some of the basics.. Now while translating I use a lot of dictionary... - Jisho.org - mostly this one, for looking up kanjis and words - tanoshiijapanese.com and this one if I want to check out the conjugations of a word, and it gives example sentences too. ...also I google a lot of grammar (and I didn’t bookmarked the pages I found pff) - maggiesensei.com - this has a lot of lesson with detailed explanation and example sentences. This might be the most useful source for you now. - japanesetest4you.com - this is also grammar, it sorts the lessons by N5, N4...etc. and has tests too. I hope you can find something helpful from the above... Benkyou ganbatte ne! Edit: I forgot one! I bought a small pocket book also when I just started out.. It’s a japanese grammar guide/overview, I used to read it on my way to work, but it’s not really helpful on its own.

Seeing your language improvement has been lovely to watch! You asked what books people are reading now, but do you have any recommendations for some end-of-summer reading?
I've not read a lot tbh as I always (last year especially) liked watching japanese shows/ animes/ videos etc. so sorry for this small list. I'm keeping up with a lot of manga rn but I can't remember all of them (;_;
Manga:
- 日常 ~ Classic comedy manga about the daily life of a trio of girls and other characters. Very weird but it was funny. I watched the anime so I really wanted to read it too. the manga has furigana for every kanji so If there's kanji/ words you don't know it'll be hassle-free to search up.
- マギ ~ A story of a mage named Aladdin who travels with his friend Ugo and stumbles upon Alibaba and several other characters. A lot of amazing magic action (ofc lol), comedy and plot twists. I love the characters. I've read the whole manga in english and currently trying to read in japanese. It also has furigana on all kanji so it'll be easier.
- ある日お姫様になってしまった件について ~ Isekai. Protagonist reincarnates into a little girl from a novel she read. In the novel the princess was rejected and killed by her own father, the emperor because he had already favoured and loved the true MC of the novel, her half sister. not all is translated into japanese yet, only a few chapters. But i love it.
- 魔法使いの嫁 ~ Abandoned and bullied, protagonist is sold off to a tall masked man for a large sum. She doesn't mind however as she just wants somewhere to call home. She then later discovers who she truly is and all the things she can do. I loved the character development in this one ughh. Has furigana on all kanji too.
- 最後にひとつだけお願いしてもよろしいでしょうか ~ Suddenly annuled by her fiance and accused of harassing his new lover, she snaps and suddenly has enough of everything. Badass female lead lol. Only a few chapters are out rn only.
Novels:
- 僕は上手にしゃべれない ~ About the life and struggles of a boy that has Dysphemia. He joins a certain club to become better at speaking fluently. Very easy to read if you're N3 and maybe a few unknown words here and there if you're N4 but it's a book aimed for younger teens in japan.
- 君の名は ~ basically written form of the movie. Though reading this can be hard as there's a lot of kanji in it. I personally haven't finished it all yet but it's a good challenge for kimi no na wa fans that are upper N3+. Though I think it's best N2+
- 三日間の幸福 ~ the book i showed in my last post about a man who sells lifespan in exchange for money and happiness. A lot of kanji but you get used to it as the author uses same words quite a lot. Since it deals with the struggles of an adults life and journey it can be confusing so i'll suggest this to upper N3+ but Mostly better for N2+ if you want to read it more quickly.
started reading only, will continue soon =
- 教室が、ひとりになるまで ~ Crime story. A few suicides suddenly happen on school grounds. It was apparently, however, deemed not to be suicide but murder.
- 八月の終わりはきっと世界の終わりに似ている ~ Protagonist loved someone dearly. However, she died of a heart disease. They had an exchange diary between eachother. Four years later, somehow a new reply appears in that diary.

fifty hours club : may recap
all right for the nerds out here following me, this is a snapshot into my routine for the month of may. i do this with every challenge because 1) it’s helpful for me to see what works and 2) it may be helpful to y’all. also it feeds into the illusion that i know what i’m doing. ✨ i’ll be using #recap to keep track of these.. and should probably retroactively add that to my french methods.
Spanish
Tumblr media
nva: the noun-verb-adjective challenge by @atomheart-spanish [thanks again love!]. 31 days of writing in Spanish, I averaged around 7 minutes a day, I suppose. Pretty cool for vocabulary because I was forced to look up other words too [still need to post those lists ahaha], so maybe 7-10 new words a day! *I’m a high intermediate speaker at this point, and probably would cut that in high if I were a step lower.
clozemaster: this is another vocabulary machine. free website working with cloze sentences [linguistics definition: fill in the blank by context sentences]. i was working with a good 60 words per day, but having to start at the beginning kinda sucked for me so I dropped off about a third of the way into the month.
pan’s labyrinth and pandora: just movies ! pan’s labyrinth is spanish, and absolutely RIDICULOUS. 10/10 thanks Del Toro. Pandora is a korean-language film with spanish dubs and captions, i recognized one of the actors so i watched it lol. i watched other movies as well....honestly one of my favorite ways to study.
crime diaries: night out : colombian series about a young man’s murder. really good. there’s also the first season of this series that focuses on a mexican presidential candidate. i’m really into thrillers and horror so i don’t have any other recs besides these...
podcast: i blew through notes in spanish intermediate and advanced really quickly. started listening to radio ambulante, which is all about different human interest stories in latin america [all in spanish obviously]. from there i’m beginning to branch out to other spanish-language podcasts, i’ve found one called nómadas, which is an hour long podcast about different countries, serving as a basic overview for travels. they have music selections interspersed which is nice for me [music lover].
overall: i spent most of my time listening to podcasts!
Japanese [clearly not a huge focus]
Tumblr media
anki: i am working with the japanese core 4000 anki deck, which can be found here. going at a clip of about five new cards a day. i’m going to increase this in june, because i was averaging about two new kanji every session and wanted more to work with, but 5 a day is what i’ll be at during graduate school.
grammar: that’s just grammar in french lol. i was writing down notes from my course [more on that], which are in french. i know basic word order...that’s about it. i want to look at where time and location fit into larger sentences, but i only know how to say ‘now’ and ‘place’ so...
kg: this is kanji garden, another free website [i do not spend money on language learning y’all]. it has stroke order and definitions for 2000+ kanji. i’ve also been taking the kanji i learn on anki and plugging them into kg so that i can keep up studying with TWO SRS systems...ah yeah..
vocab: writing down some words from JLPT lists just to see where I stand with N5 and N4. i’ve learned almost the number of kanji that are on N5, but some of them are from N3 and N2 lol, whoops! i’m not playing to take that exam so it’s not too much of a big deal for me.
maraguto: from this free e-learning site, you can learn up to high A2 material in japanese. there are courses based in english, spanish, portuguese, indonesian, mandarin, korean...i think more as well [i know so]. I use the french courses, so I am learning my L5 through my L3, and that prevents me from confusing myself with my other languages. cool course, definitely phrase-based. i break down a lot of it [thanks linguistic analysis class], once i get back to this i may post those breakdowns.
overall: most of my work was done on kanji garden! but i also took down a lot of vocabulary words to memorize as well.
focus for June
i really want to work on my reading speed in Spanish, and actually form some coherent sentences in Japanese.
