Heluu!!! Sorry i know you're not in the IZ fandom anymore but i just stumbled upon one of your Zim arts.. And JESUS. Your artsyle seems to work on me, like it's hypnotizing me, your pencil work is mesmerizing to look at. Long story short! I did an artstyle study on you, i hope you don't mind thaat ^^; here's a buggy alien i did in my style incorporating your shading style. I still have to work with the pressure i put on my pencil but i think i did great :] just wondering if you could give tips in trying to shade. But anyways you're an amazing artist! Keep up the awesome work! Honestly I don't have much to say because this looks amazing already. If I had to give any advice, i'd say focus on lineweight when outlining? Like, focus on making the lines thick and dark in spots where it's appropriate (the undersides of things, corners of objects, etc.) and thin and light in other areas (like where light is hitting and whatnot). But that's just advice in general, this is looking wonderful!!

Buggy was made in a lab by the Almighty tallest during impending doom 2. Someone accidently said something about it while zim was on call with the tallest. And ofc zim needs a super ultra destructive things to help with his mission. However once he snatches the little guy he IMMEDIATELY goes into dad mode. He doesn't know why but he immediately had an emotional attachment to the thing. So he just started raising buggy as his son. Well after a bit of zim having the bou, he starts paying less attention to his mission. Him and dib grow closer because dib also likes buggy. Dib and zim quickly grow closer into dating. Things happen a bit too quickly and buggy now winds up with a sibling named Mac. Around the time Macs born, dib is murdered in the woods. Zim finds his body. He gives buggy dibs shirt to give him a small reminder of dib.. (Hence his signature look of dibs shirt as a little neck scarf).. Zim winds up having a psychotic breakdown and digs up dibs body a while later, attempting to bring him back to life. And he succeeds... That's it for now... I plan on making a video with buggys introduction. I hope that can get done hopefully this week. Oh yeah here's some art.

I want to yabber about alien gatsby lore bc I’ve kind of been building it on the fly but I’ve actually got a general idea of where he comes from and all of his buddy pals now hee hee, so under the cut is just a bunch of yabber - will probably update 😋]

I’ve been watching farrrr too much invader zim and starkid’s Starship and would you look at that I’ve got an alien with no lore so yoinkle spoinkle I took a few headcannons and stufd and turned them into this little chap

Alien gatsby!! Where’s he from? Whats he doing? Whats the other cast like!?!?! 1) I kind of want to keep his planet ambiguous, because he himself can’t remember it’s name or exactly where it is currently. 2) He’s observing life on earth! On a tour around a bunch of planets and making notes on their life and biodiversity 3) The rest of the great gatsby cast do absolutely have their alien counterparts! (only designed Daisy, Nick, Jordan, Tom and Gatsby himself but I’ve been rotating Wilson and myrtle in my mind so they might pop up with designs after my exams are over). Don’t be mistaken though, the events of the book dont happen to this lot! Love isn’t a necessity for the species so most of them are ace - some like the idea of love, but a large majority are aro as well as they simply don’t need it. The only reason he’s still considered a Gatsby is because of similar qualities in his physical appearance and personality, as well as all of his friends having matching aspects with their human counterparts.

They’ve got a job to do, no time to go fooling around with relationships and affairs 🙏

Yaaa the home planet, it’s basically a sleeping planet - everything is dead silent and they mostly communicate with the added “sense” the antenna provide. They don’t know why it’s silent, it’s something that just kind of happened over time so 1) my guy is veryyy overstimulated by the sheer amount of noise in earth and 2) is actively trying to figure out language.

The translator (before he ate it) was pulling some mega work, translating the silent communication back to him in a way he could verbalise and then translating the actual noise into English 😭 then he ate it to cut out the middle man - seems to be working for now.

Whyyyy do all his species look so varied you may ask?? It’s cosmetic altercations on a genetic level 🤩 several generations ago his ancestors figured out that tech, so each family tree kind of did their own thing while looking somewhat uniform to be identifiable against the rest of the universe (theyre all green and buggy eyed with antenna, but the length of antenna, shade of green, markings and eye colour etc was all modified into their inherited genetics ages ago. Why? Cause it looks cool, why do we do anything.)

Umm soo much of this is gibberish help. His home planet, he’s got a bit of a shit memory so he’s honestly a bit lost. Not ready to admit this to the world yet but it’s getting kind of horrifying for him internally like “uh oh shit where was that..” being stuck on a very overwhelming loud and distracting planet 😭 he’d be freaking out if jayception wasnt weird enough to assure him that earth must just have some confusion field to it.

Anyway, the “North Eastern xviennew stream” he travelled on is basically just a hyper specific way of saying which highway/motorway he took basically. His planet sits in a belt of other technologically advanced planets so they have different areas of space around the planets to indicate a sense of direction when all you can see is stars (they’re not on an orbit, so these streams don’t change.)

Similarly the “Plezvnaim time category” is a fancy way to categorise whereabouts on this belt his planet is - bit like earth time zones but on a much much wider scale, 2 or 3 planets per zone / category. The “Day” is determined by leaders of a planet based on schedule yada yada and how much needs to be done on average during a day, because the planets aren’t in orbit of a star, they determine day and night with artificial lights It’s mostly for aesthetic purpose but also because they can’t see well in the dark. The glow in the dark is meant to help them see objects they’re close to with reflections and that but it’s grown weaker through evolution and only looks pretty now, doesn’t actually help them much in the dark

Anyway, what is alien gatsby even here for?! The original pinned post said he picked up a signal to head to earth, but I want to change that now bc I came up with that on the spot while I was in a bus. He and Tom are here on a “Xviemper clearance” which basically means they were sent to complete observational work over a longer undefined period of time in the planet whereas a “Plirviret clearance” would be somebody who’s been trained to obliterate, destroy and conquer planets for whatever reasons may arise. They have the permissions to hurt the life on the planets, but Jay and Tom don’t. They’re basically scientific tourists visiting a wild animal species😭

All of the species are trained for a specific job pretty young (sigh this idea came from Starkid’s starship), so most of the main cast of the great gatsby were meant to be observers etc from birth (hatching?)

Annnd yes, they’re hatched from eggs. Their young are called hatchlings fittingly, but only for the short period that they’re unemployed before becoming a trainee and then eventually considered fully grown by the time they’re fit for a job. They don’t reproduce conventionally either, all of the eggs are artificial “template” eggs built of mostly their equivalent to stem cells that are purchased and then differentiated to match the DNA of parents or parent singular. Nobody knows where the egg templates come from, but they all get used and the population continues so,, (shhh I’m projecting my asexuality onto all of them and also bc thinking about anatomy and stuff makes me really uncomfy. They’re all built like cheap dolls. Any masc/fem traits are cosmetic choices.)

Cvalierix! Name of his current leader! Though thats several thousand light years away, things are going to be veeeeeeeery different if he ever decides to go home. Basically the closest thing his species has to a God or religion, but they’re not a dictator. Literally just in charge of making sure the planet doesn’t die out or fall behind against the other planets to keep itself safe. sure the genetic mods and having young aliens working away can look reallly bad from a human perspective but for them, it means they’re a surviving species - thriving in fact, considering enough are born to have most hatchlings put into generic roles like Gatsby here.

Gir in the Expedition AU

Since large-scale invasion isn't really a thing in this version of Irk, there are no Invaders, so SIR Units have a slightly different purpose. In this world, they primarily belong to engineers and mechanics, and they're primarily used for tool retrieval and similar tasks.

Gir was built by a disgruntled Zim to do his chores for him. Zim hates his designated job at the planet's food court because he feels his genius is being wasted, so he built a robot out of a broken frozen yogurt machine to do all the gross things like cleaning the bathrooms.

Gir, of course, is a buggy mess, so instead of outsourcing his work to a robot slave, Zim is now stuck fixing his idiot machine who often does more harm than good, in addition to the work he was trying to avoid.

Since you mentioned that you draw Shadow's blood much brighter than the other characters blood (which has now become my new headcannon since I find it really cool) but I had an internal thought that was "what if it was florescent if you shined a black light on it." and just one of the little buggies just found a black light or had eyes like a black light and boom, that's our guy, we all hitting the town tonight (invasion). Idk I'm just rambling about stuff I thought of as a joke.

... All I'm thinking of with the Black Light Eyes idea is that one Invader Zim episode with the germs. The parasites leaving the cave for the first time in too many years instantly stricken with terror at how much Gross Shit is everywhere.
