Making the ✨Lioncourt Gown✨ (Part 1/4)

Shoot, it's been like two years since I last posted, apologies! I’ve been incredibly busy with uni and life in general, taking care of my mental health, it’s just been a very stressful time lately. I haven't really worked on anything worthy of posting in the meantime, only minor things and one dress I rushed and it didn't turn out well anyway. But, since Halloween is coming up and I don’t feel like wearing the same thing for the third time in a row, I thought it was the perfect excuse to try and make something new and the other day at 2am I fell down a rabbit hole and came up with an idea I’m completely obsessed with.

So recently, (in case you couldn't tell by the title haha) I’ve been really into Interview with the Vampire (the TV show), and there’s this one costume that’s so iconic it immediately caught my attention: This Lestat outfit.

I feel like since this blog isn't fandom related I need to explain myself to those of you who are just semi-familiar with IWTV. Maybe you know Lestat as essentially the villain of the story and are wondering why on earth I'd want to make an outfit inspired by him. The answer is quite simple and not actually deep at all: I just thought it'd be a fun project. I'm very well aware of his personality and would not want to be in the same room as him in real life haha. But he's such an interesting character to watch on screen (they all are, in my opinion). Anyways-

This outfit is from a scene that takes place in the 1790s and now, I’m unfortunately not too versed in men’s fashion so I can’t quite comment on its historical accuracy (and also it’s worn in the context of a theater performance so it’s bound to be more flashy than what people would have worn on the streets), but the way the lapel is shaped just screams redingote to me, and since I've always wanted to make a redingote I'm going to make a redingote version of the costume!

For reference, here's what a c. 1790 redingote looks like:

This one has a normal button closure but redingotes were also often double-breasted (which is what I'm going for), taking inspiration from men's fashion. These were often worn to ride in - hence the name, redingote - riding coat.

Maybe this is the point where I should mention that I'm not going for perfect historical accuracy for this project. It really is just a fun project to try to approximate something as seen on a show to an actual historical piece of clothing.

Here’s a super quick sketch I drew to check if the colors looked good together, and I have to say, I’m sold 1000%.

I am so excited to wear this when it’s done, but also a bit anxious because for starters, I’ve never made a redingote before, and the dresses that I have made all have issues with the sleeves because apparently, I can’t sew sleeves correctly. So this time, I really want to make sure it all fits properly before I sew it and take my time with it to make sure it ends up being something that I love as much as I love the idea of it.

This time, I tried something a little different with my mockup - usually, I’ll draft a pattern on paper, then cut out my mockup and sew it, but this time I decided to make the mockup by draping the fabric directly on the mannequin that I dressed in my stays and a bumroll, making sure I had the correct measurments, and it was a complete gamechanger. It fit right away with minimal adjustments, and I was also immediately able to check how the fabric falls, if it needed to be on the bias or not, etc. I ended up doing everything on straight grain which is technically not 100% correct as the front piece needs to be on a slight bias but it seems to work for this piece so let’s hope the fabric doesn’t wrinkle! I’ll also be adding boning so I’m hoping that’ll additionally keep it all straight and even in the front.

Once the mockup was completed, I went on the search for the right fabrics and got these (the skirt fabric, the buttons and the tape I ordered online and they've yet to arrive!):

The black base fabric and the blue one are cotton, as will be the skirt. The details are satin! I spent a long time at the fabric store trying to think of the best way to do this and it does look like the details on Lestat's outfit are maybe velvet, but I was afraid it would look a little too costume-y and cheap, so I ended up going with satin in the end.

I pinned the fabric mock-up onto the lining fabric (just a white Ikea bedsheet), added 1,5cm seam allowances where needed cut out the lining first, then placed the lining onto the black base fabric and cut that out as well.

I needed to lay the pieces down this way because I bought 2,5 meters, and I'll need 2m for the outer skirt alone so there's not a lot of space left, as I'll also have to cut out the sleeves from that fabric. I then sewed everything together.

And then I noticed I'd made a mistake - the lining for the front panel was supposed to be blue. Welp, now it's white, and I also realized I didn't have enough blue fabric to do the collar AND the lining, so I went for a fake lining for which I cut out two blue triangles to be slightly bigger than the lapel

and stitched them to the lining layer so the seams wouldn't be visible on the black outer layer. This was the result:

Pretty happy with it! Next up, even though I don't have the beige tape yet, I decided to cut out the color panels in the front and already pin them down. After some trial and error, I decided to go for 15x4,5cm triangles and calculated the size needed for the shorter ones (9x7,5cm), cut them out of the satin (which, let me tell you, was so finicky it ended up being the most difficult part of it all) laid them down and fastened with pins.

Looking at it in the picture, I'm worried that the color panels take up too much space in the front. It looks like that in the original picture, but in my sketch I made everything a little narrower. But I was also scared of pulling on it too much because the panels are just pinned to the fabric. Some parts are sticking out over the black base layer which maybe also makes it look wider than it really is, I'll cut it to shape once I have the tape and have a better visual understanding of what it's going to look like.

Next up will be the collar/yoke and the dreaded sleeves and possibly the boning. I should do the boning before I attach the beige tape. I am realizing as I’m writing this that I should’ve done the boning before pinning down the colored panels as they’re supposed to cover it. Oh well. It’s fine. Either way, I think it already looks super cool and I can't wait to see the finished product!

disclaimer: i do wanna say this is just from what i’ve gathered because i didn’t become super fixated on nfl rpf until last year </3 one day i’ll do a legit deep dive like an insane person and update with all my findings…

second disclaimer: im delusional yes and a part of me straight up thinks that they’ve had to have hooked up at least once bc i love to psychoanalyze people i'll never meet but i’ll make sure to say when i’m being fully delusional KSDJFHSKDS

SO before i get into like when ceedee was drafted and such i wanna talk about how invisible string coded they are because i love shit like this sm

both were born in louisiana only about an hour and a half apart from each other until ceedee moved to texas as a child after hurricane katrina hit (he’s said he’s moved around a couple of times as kid in interviews before)

dak went to mississippi st. in college and ceedee’s dream school was LSU (rival colleges… 🚬) but he had committed to oklahoma (also they wouldn’t have met or anything in college anyway because dak was drafted in 2016 and ceedee started playing in college in 2017 but i digress it makes my brain light up anyway lol)

when dak was drafted he was projected to go like late second round/early third round of the draft but 🗿 he got into some trouble beforehand (driving under the influence) and ended up falling to the 4th round (after the front office kept trying to trade up to get a different backup QB)

dak also had to compete for his spot as a backup and was named starter after romo was injured in 2016. this was dak’s rookie year and he led them to the playoffs - almost to the nfc championship game. after this he basically took the job from romo

okay so FAST FORWARD to the 2020 draft. ceedee was projected to go top 10 and he fell all the way to SEVENTEEN so the cowboys were able to grab him then (drafted bpa instead of for need)

idk all of this is just very <333 to me that so many things managed to fall into place just right and they managed to find each other on the same team out of THIRTY TWO teams it makes me weeeep 🤧 also just something else that i think is very cute because i truly am a little insane: ceedee was born april 8th and dak’s jersey number is 4 and ceedee’s is 88 so 4/8 ALL THE DOTS CONNECT SOMEHOW…

so we’ll go through a teensy bit about dak i suppose and then ceedee this won’t be too long

dak: baby of his family and has two brothers. his parents divorced when he was little and he was very close with his mom before she passed away in 2013 (he’s started a foundation since then for cancer research and suicide prevention/mental health). went to mississippi st, cowboys starter his rookie year, etc etc. he also lost his brother to suicide in 2020 and he’s said before he feels a responsibility to live on and carry his and his mom’s legacy throughout his life. he’s like suuuuuper underrated in the league i feel and a lot of cowboys fans are complete assholes to him all the time it makes me so mad cos they could literally never ever make me hate him - he makes me so weepy 😭😭😭 umm but yeah he’s donated a ton to children cancer funds too and donated during BLM protests and things like that - he won the walter payton man of the year award. he just had a baby and got engaged in october (remember for the yaoi LOL) ok im gonna stop here cause i don’t wanna rant too much lol

btw i know what you are dak prescott:

ceedee: MY BELOVED… my favorite my absolute favorite. he has two brothers and two little sisters. idk if he’s the eldest or not tbh i see different things all the time that he’s the second eldest whatever not that important i guess. so blah blah college blah blah - he wears 88 on the team because that’s considered really special to the cowboys franchise and is reserved for elite receivers. idk he’s the most beautiful man ever and he does a lot of donating too - i know he participates in a lot of football youth camps a lot to help kids out and he likes to provide meals to families around thanksgiving and christmas time. a loooot of cowboys fans have criticized him for not being that much of a leader and pouting a lot on the sidelines (which he does sometimes… my mimir) but i think this last season he’s reaaaaallyyy taken a step into more of a leader type position especially with dak being out and he’s proven himself more than enough. he LOOOVES spending money on clothes it’s so cute… gonna be a sad day when the class war happens and i’m faced with cedarian lamb. ummm i also legit think he’s gay and closet is made of glass but whatever

personal stuff happened with dak before the season started - this is when he lost his brother to suicide and he’s been really outspoken about mental health since then. on top of that he broke his ankle during week 5 of the season (and tried to snap it back into place by himself on the field). dak was performing on like a sort of insane level before the injury happened so </3 what could’ve been and all that… the what-ifs of it all… so that year they weren’t able to play together as much

Oct 11, 2020: “CeeDee Lamb said he texted Dak as soon as he got out of the shower. Thanked him for everything he’s done for him and they were gonna hold it down for him until they see him on the field again.” (after the game dak got hurt in)

POST 2020 SEASON:

"He came back from his second surgery about two months ago so he’s walking around, rehabbing, doing everything right," Lamb said Wednesday. "It’s great to see, especially when you seen him go down. You saw the look in his eyes and you saw how sad he was and how much this game meant to him. Just to see him smiling again, happy again, being with his guys is a great deal."

2021 SEASON

ceedee’s second year, he was in a WR room with amari cooper (currently on the bills) and michael gallup (now retired) blah blah season happened whateverrrr but AFTER this season the front office (i’ll always be mad about this lol) traded amari to the browns for a 5th round pick 💀 hence THIS!!! which i consider the #Real beginning of ceedak:

the front office set this team up to fail and let like a ton of players walk in the offseason, didn’t use free agency, injury riddled team, had a bunch of rookies starting but anyway just gonna go game by game really quick because this is when i was locked tf in and it’s more recent so ?? more detail seems alright when it's necessary also i wrote so many half-finished post-game fics this season to cope with how terrible it was i’m cryingggg it was insane

cowboys vs browns: i was at this game :) good game they won

cowboys vs saints: blocked this game out actually!!!

cowboys vs ravens: fake ass comeback also the game ceedee CRASHED OUT on the field lskdjslkdjsskjdsk which is so funny bc i literally love lamar sm and was so excited to watch but… my players wanted to make me MISERABLE

this was said a day or two after the game by ceedee (bc he fumbled during it and then wasn't there for post game media people andddd was yelling at dak on the sideline 🗿)

“Our relationship has, if anything, gotten stronger. Don’t let what, what’s out there fool you. We’re brothers to the end. We know that we all we got, and I tip my hat off to him. I got the utmost respect for him.”

now ummm this is the week dak got engaged so. which is really funny because after the announcement post on ig ceedee went GHOST on instagramksjdjks like i went back to check because i’m crazy (these are delusions btw) and he had been posting like once a week… maybe once every two weeks PRETTY consistently like for at least a couple of months but after the engagement happened there was pretty much nothing for like… almost two months?? ummm which AGAIN i’m not saying anything i’m not insinuating anything buuuuut…… buuuuut….. also it’s really fucking funny because in this same interview ceedee dropped that he left the country during the bye week but didn’t post it on socials at all so i’m like ohhhh… you’re coping w the engagement… i see LMAO anyway

cowboys vs 49ers: sigghhhh….. lets get into it

SO this was a loss but two ceedee touchdowns.. i’m leaving with something!!!

“Yeah, I found CeeDee,” Prescott said when reflecting back on Lamb’s breakout in the Bay Area. “He did a good job of getting open, running all of his routes hard no matter where he was, if he was the one or if he was backside on a concept. Loved his intentionality in the game. He kind of said something like that to me during the game, midway through the game, like ‘Yeah, we’re back.’ And that was before, I think, his two touchdown drives. So just him even playing with that confidence, communicating that, it gives me a lot of confidence.”

SO. that’s basically where everything's at lmfao worst season EVERRRRR with ceedak ANGST um but yeah hopefully 2025 will be better... i’m cautiously optimistic because their old coach is finally FINALLY gone because he was really limiting them and their ability you know? 2023 season was amazing and then 2024 started and it was like… mccarthy just reverted back to his old scheme that wasn’t working. it was really annoyingksdkskds. but the new coach (despite it seeming like a silly hire) had a decent press conference (that ceedee didn’t attend bc he was playing around in paris LOL) andddd he seems to be setting up a nice staff around him so hopefully hopefully hopefully 2025 is a lot better and ceedak will save me again… can’t wait for training camp omg

anyway if u read all this i’m SO sorry i hope it’s… expansive enough?? i wanted to include kind of how it’s been through the years and i had a lot more to add for 2023/2024 because that’s when my adhd was just like Yea let’s hyperfixate on this so. been stuck here for awhile and i’ll probably be stuck here for years and years and years <3

i do NOT shut up about this one and i know it!! but i’m a huge hockey fan! there’s a junior hockey team that plays not too far from me and when i started going to games in 2018 o got hooked FAST. they were coming off a championship season so they weren’t very good, but i got to watch them rebuild to win the championship AGAIN in 2023!! my family has season tickets so we go to every home game we can!

history

this one tends to coincide with sims (since i started as a historical simblr and still plan to do more historical gameplay) but i love history! i studied history in college with a specialization in the pacific northwest and the 20th century. i particularly can nerd out about the 1962 worlds fair in seattle and how the reason we have the space needle is because of sputnik!

also super interested in the vietnam war and the gilded age - i watched a great pbs series on james j hill and his railroad empire i highly recommend

travel

i LOVE to travel! i am very lucky and privileged to have gotten to travel a lot, and since i was little. i (american) have relatives in finland so have gotten to see a lot of europe through them, and a few years ago my family hosted an exchange student from spain who is like a sister to me so i get to go stay with her for a month this summer! i really think experiencing different places and cultures (and history!!!) is so good for people and i wish international travel were more accessible because my trips truly have all been life changing

baking

i don’t do this one too much but i do really enjoy baking pies and breads! my aunt and i discovered the perfect pie crust recipe a few years ago so now we like to experiment with different pies! usually we do berry pies because she works on a farm and gets fresh raspberries and strawberries. i also have done a few easy breads, my mom and i found a great focaccia recipe, and my friend is offering me a sourdough starter!

Some of the fandoms I write in are notorious for having… contentious views over specific characters, and I do not wish to partake in this. I like my muses, I like writing them, and I will continue to write them. Additionally, I will be writing darker topics (they all will be tagged and under readmores).

If you feel the need to police me for my muses or for the content that I write, I will block you. 006. With the exception of a few, most muses are written as being over 18. This includes muses who may not be canonically that age but will be with time. All interactions with them being over 18 are set after their canon events. If this bothers you, do not follow me. 007. While I feel I’m not slow, I tend to have a lot of interactions, and I will always prioritize my friends over others. This does not mean I do not want to write with you, but you will likely see some partners receiving replies daily while you receive a reply once every few weeks. 010. If you soft block me and I find out no hard feelings, but also, I'm just going to hard block you. I will assume you no longer wish to interact with me and will follow suit. 011. I am of the mindset that most things can be solved with a dm. I actually think tumblr's mindset of you can never be confrontational is actively harmful and has created an environment where everyone is too afraid to speak their mind or speak up when they have an issue with someone. in fear of being viewed as "toxic" or "drama mongering". Please know that if you have an issue with me and wish to discuss it in DM's I will at the very least hear you out and listen to your side.

012. Do not interact if your blog is solely used for the purpose of writing smut and producing thinly veiled fetish content. I have NEVER had a good experience with those types of blogs and have no interest in writing with them. I am fine with smut / nsfw content as long as that's not all your blog is for. I will unfollow if you do not either put your nsfw content under a read more or give me an easy way to filter it with tags. I will hard block if you engage in any of the following kinks: feederism, inflation, or weight gain. I'm not interested in kink shaming but those specific kinks make me grossily uncomfortable. Please do not also interact with if your oc is a thinly veiled stand in for you to engage in self-shipping. I feel really uncomfortable with that.

BEST EXPERIENCE? oft hard to answer, i have both so many and the world's most appalling memory. the excitement of any budding new ship is truly what keeps me going, but i do remember one in particular with a bar tender muse of mine and a 'straight' firefighter that just... oh it was good. then more recently it would be meeting @okajibana and forming my whole existence around her, you're stuck with me now! plus every time i get a notification from @irrwicht or @temporalobjects my day is always improved.

bg-3 exclusive rp blog for Torvic, originally from D.octor Who but recreated for this universe! Mutuals only, for rpers over 21yo, will only be written as a bg-3 character. loved by Ele (mid-30s, gmt+1)

An important disclaimer: Torvic is an assh*le but I don't expect your muse to submit, and I'll do my best to give them a reason to stay, whether because Torvic can be held back by me or doesn't actually want to push them away, or due to external reasons. Your muse is allowed to hurt her or be mad (just don't kill her!). I'm also an anxious chicken who worries about offending people and fangirls about muses becoming friends or lovers or family. Plus, we can plot/expect relationship development as we go.

That said, Torvic is your typical 'villain muzzled by magic' and has a lot of toxic mentality to unlearn. If you'd rather interact with nicer muses, you can find my 'Lex' (Tav) at my multi @savingthrcw, awkward mess that she is, or my already good bard @lcdybonbon.

Rules:

this Torvic is for muses from bg3 or with a bg3 verse only (which is why I don't need to list type of characters that make me uncomfortable/triggered/uninterested: deities and vamps of this game are fine, the only thing is that I don't want to write Torvic being attracted against her will so as far as your muse having such powers goes, she's immune). Torvic has her 'alien' canon-ish verse in my multi. Tavs and ocs are very welcomed, but no durges yet because I want to play them first. Don't be offended if I don't follow you, it could be plenty reasons: not cutting your posts, something about your blog triggering me, etc.

Torvic is pan and can act sultry/flirty with nearly everyone, BUT I fade to black unless I tell you otherwise (I'm repulsed) & it doesn't necessarily mean she's into the other person. I love ships but never force or expect romance. That said, I won't ship with Halsin and Jaheira.

If we do write smut it will be tagged 'nsft' and under read more. Torvic will not be submissive (while violence is fine), so don't assume the former if we faded. Due to dysphoria I am unlikely to write f/f smut, and if I'm writing f/m I will keep it kinda vague. If s.ex is a topic of discussion between muses I'll tag it nsft-ish.

If Torvic's flirting bothers you (or anything else!), you can say it ic or ooc and she'll magically stop. Your comfort comes before this game (unless you tell me ooc that you want her to continue). Even though she's starting as a villain, I will write her as wanting consensual s.ex while all other kinds of violence are fun to her.

if you don't see me online for a while and there is no psa, I probably have no drafts and don't want to stress anyone out! (And I'm picky so there aren't usually many mutuals for me)

I will be super happy to have a thousand threads with each person! I reserve the right to drop a thread or multiple if I feel like I can’t continue it or I can’t find a way to respond that would stay within reason of how my muse would respond. Of course, you have this right to use on me as well. I would ask that you at least tell me if you’re dropping it. I seriously won’t bite, but I know that I myself might not say anything because of social anxiety.. So, just do what you can when you can and expect the same from me.

I am the slowest roleplayer in existence. Though not very often, I literally can take up to 7 months to get back to something decently simple. Muses can be very flaky on me, or the general desire to write can be gone for a period. Along with that, I do have work and other things outside of roleplaying that I also have to give my attention. So, if you are wanting to thread, please understand that I can take a very, very long time to get back to you. Despite this, though, if it’s been longer than a week and I have not replied, you are more than welcome to come and ask to make sure that I have it drafted and on the list of things to get to. As well as, if you really want a thread responded to, or bumped up in the order of replies, feel free to ask. Though, don’t do so constantly, if you can help it.

Do not worry about icons- the inclusion or non-inclusion of them. The simplicity of them or the elaborate nature of them. They are not a make or break.

Do not give me one sentence responses(unless crack/that is the entire thread/post), especially if I have given you more than two paragraphs. As long as you make an effort, you do not have to match length for length. I often times will make things longer (mostly by accident) because I enjoy putting my muses’ thoughts into it or setup a thread/the backstory/information leading up to- so I do not expect you to go one-to-one with threads.

Memes && Ask Prompts

Here comes that boi– oh shIT WADDUP— Okay listen—- Ask prompts/Memes are super fun and are sometimes easier to reply to && get out than typical threads. Prompts/Inbox tends to be my priority due to the fact that I am quite forgetful and if I do not have that notification on the inbox stating there is something there I will forget about it- and I don't like leaving the lil notification on it. So if you have a thread you’re waiting on but still want some sort of interactions going on between responses, feel free to send in one of the prompts I reblog. If you send in a prompt and I respond to it, you are more than welcome to respond to it on a separate post and turn it into a thread! Or even just respond to it– Whichever tickles your fancy. Not all prompts need to be, or will be, turned into a thread. It will depend on if there is anywhere the idea can go or be expanded upon, or whether my muse will be able to go farther. I don’t expect a response to prompts, so don’t feel like you have to- but don’t hesitate if you feel a strong urge to do so! I also don’t send in prompts expecting to make them threads 100% of the time, so I do not expect the same of others.

Unless explicitly stated and/or quite obvious sent in asks are for Dan Feng (ie. individuals only around during Dan Feng's time), all asks will be assumed to be for Dan Heng.

While I don't enforce reblog karma, it's still appreciated to send one in, or don't just use me as your prompt source every single time and never send ANY in.

Godmodding/Powerplay

Just—- Don’t. This is a given, but I will still state it. Do not. I write for my muse, not yours ( vise-versa ).

However! If there comes an instance where something that might come along those lines of godmod, just clear it with me first. For instance, such as knocking his spear out of his hand and leaving him no room to go grab it. That is absolutely 100% okay!! Just make sure to ask me first. Communication is important.

Shipping

I am just as much of a shipping garbage can as the next person. However, chemistry is very important. Though, I do have biases on certain ships pertaining to my muse; our muses capability to interact is slightly more important. Also, I have no control over my muse’s romantic feelings. But, I’m also a sucker for one-sided loves, rejected feelings, platonic relationships, sibling-like relationships, rival relationships, etc.

This blog is multi-ship. However, is ship-exclusive (unless discussed between mun’s, and that all mun’s involved are okay with duel-muse-shipping). As an example: I will ship and write Dan Feng with one Xingxing, and Dan Feng with Jing Yuan. However, the Xingxing and Jing Yuan cannot ship with another Dan Feng. I ask that my partners also be ship-exclusive with me. I don’t want to see my partner shipping with another version of my muse. My muse && I will consider it cheating and will drop the ship immediately.

My insecurities prevent me from duel-muse-shipping, and will upset me if my partner does so. It will make me feel as if I’m competing for a ship, or struggle with my partner comparing which dynamic they like more, or who’s portrayal they like more. I just cannot and will not do it- either to myself or to someone else. If you do not intend to be ship-exclusive with me and the specific muse/ship, then do not expect to write a ship with me. I also ask that you are either at least semi-active OR discuss them often through dms. Non-Thread interactions and mun to mun compatibility are also important. I am a slow writer, so I can’t demand someone be at my beck-and-call, that would be unfair to you. I do like to scream about random ideas and toss music videos and random memes that I find applicable to the ship and muses. So at least be ooc ranting available if not super active. I’ve had too many ships start with people then they stop writing and/or stop talking to me, and with being a ship-exclusive, then the ship just falls apart and then the muse is left lonely. I would like to avoid repeating that.

OC's are, obviously, seen as seperate people, so more than one OC I will ship with. I however ask that you do not ship with another Dan Heng if we are writing them together and in a romantic nature.

Caelus and Stelle will be considered as separate muses. I see them as two different personalities/ways you can write them per mun, so they will not apply to this rule. So to clarify, only one Caelus and one Stelle will be shipped with, and both can be shipped with at the same time.

I do not intend to ship Dan Heng with Blade. While possible that my stance can change depending on development, I personally just do not enjoy the ship and see Dan Heng as wanting to distance himself from his past, and that includes Blade/how Blade seems to be solely for vengeance (for now) against Dan Feng, while he is no longer that person. I do, however, enjoy Dan Feng and Xingxing.

Crack threads do not apply to the ship-exclusive rule. Have fun when goofing around.

Ship perferences/biases: DanCae, DanStelle, DanMarch, XingYue/XingFeng

Ships currently active will be listed on the Character Dossier Document.

Plotting

I personally don’t mind if threads go solidly by winging it- makes them all the more enjoyable to do because you don’t know what to expect. But, I also enjoy a plotted out thread. These threads tend to go more smoothly; because then I know who to make sure things go in the direction one of us/both of us want it to go. So if we’re mutuals, feel free to come in to my DM and ask about plotting.

AUs && Crossovers

Holy nuggets I love AUs??? I just melt because so many more beautiful things to let my babies roam free in. I love making AUs and I typically don’t get a chance to actually RP within the AUs I think of– so feel free to hit me up with any of them. I don’t do too well with crossovers, unfortunately. It’s always a ‘oh hey you know *insert mutual character here* yeah? so how do you know them? oh really? well i did this *insert thing* with them’ kind of thread and I’m honestly just.. so over it? I mean if it can be pushed to something not along those lines I’ll probably be up for giving it a try.

Following/FollowBacks

Since this is a SELECTIVE blog, it may take me some time to go through and decide if I want to interact && follow you. That doesn’t mean that if I don’t follow you that I don’t think you write terribly or have a bad portrayal. No not at all. I just don’t want to spread myself so thin that I end up crashing. But, sometimes my writing style clashes with others, or I may simply not like any extra things you post on your blog ( for example: too many prompts/in such a small period of time WITHOUT any ic character posts looks too messy for me and I just personally don’t like seeing so much of it.. ) Also, the notifications tab isn’t the greatest, so I typically go to my follower page and scan through the list about once a week or two just to make sure I see who follows me. If you have a sideblog that you want to interact with me on, please let me know that it’s a sideblog. I really don’t mind smut-nsfw things?? As long as it’s not like.. pictures of real life people (pornography excluded)- like an OnlyFans post style/selfies or the porn bots vibe.. you know. #UPDATES.

happy februaryyy i have finally kicked myself into action to get things rolling properly for the month here. i did a LOT of unexpected cross-continental travelling and moving around last month, which sort of squashed my activity ambitions... (in the mean time, i've been finishing up tweaks to the blog and fighting with posts, mostly. i for some reason have nooo ability to trim posts regardless of whatever extensions i use, so i'm still figuring out how to keep things tidy for everyone. eventually i gave up on that and played with aesthetics and graphics instead, pff. i finally have figured out a vibe that's consistent so i think i can focus on writing instead of just putting filters on photos, now. the muse possess the mun sometimes, lol.) anyway! i had a very satisfying first month as a member of the group and you've all been super welcoming - thank you! i'm eager to continue settling in and interact with more members of nru. last but not least, thank you, as well, to folks who sent cater little birthday greetings. they were warmly received and much appreciated as lil activity boosts!!

#MANIFESTING.

my primary aim is to begin writing with more people! i only have one (1) active thread right now, and so i'm chomping at the bit to write more broadly. i'll probably make a plotting/starter call, since that seems to be the go-to, though i find it tricky to generate ideas that way sometimes. i'll figure out my approach in the coming days, which of course you'll be the first to know! my secondary aim is to finish the memies symbol headcanon prompts, which i'm grateful to have received! they were indeed fun to begin drafting while on any multitude of airplanes. there are five in total that will be finished and queued soon. my tertiary aim is to complete and queue some of the independent headcanon posts i've been working on for cater! i find it easier to commit to actually finishing and sharing these sorts of things if i acknowledge them as they're in progress, so i have the following in the works: 𓆩⟡𓆪 - an analysis of cater's relationship to heartslabyul's ideals & socialization, complete with (unfortunately?) citations from sociological theory. 𓆩⟡𓆪 - a more detailed look into cater's affinity for astrology, and the areas of scholarly study within the discipline that he finds most interesting. 𓆩⟡𓆪 - cater's enneagram & mbti report, because there's nothing the world loves more than more personality tests my stretch goal is to crush that stamp card this month. i'm going to try sOOOO HARD. mark my words!!

as always, my thread tracker is in my pinned post & i'm reachable on discord and twitter for plotting, and a plotting call or open starter or both is on the way soon. now that im no longer larping as a jetsetter and am back to my natural homebody state, i'm excited to have some energy and focus to devote here in earnest hahaha.

Nervous Butterflies

Bucky x Reader

A/N: I’m a HUGE Bucky fan so yes this has been a long time coming as I had this sitting in my drafts for a while! I think this headcanon is mostly inspired by what I was going through last week. I always like to think what my favorite characters would so in my situation even though it may not be comic/movie accurate but hey, that’s what writing is for right? Anyways hope you enjoyed it! Like and comment if you can!

Bucky’s a very observant person. He walks into the study room and sees that you are extremely quiet in front of your computer.

‘What’s on your mind?’ He places your favorite ginger tea on the coaster.

It took you a while to process his question. Your heart was beating faster than usual, you just had lunch but your stomach felt strangely hollow and your chest tightened at every thought that passed through your mind - oddly reminiscent to the main lead in a horror film preparing for a jump scare.

But you figured that it was best to get things of your chest least you turned into a walking zombie for the rest of the day.

‘You know how I’m taking this advanced counselling course at my workplace?’ He nods. ‘Well, I have to do a roleplay in tomorrow and I’m just anxious about messing up.’

As you take a sip of the warm tea, Bucky nods thoughtfully. Bucky was a man of few words, you learnt that from Sam, former colleague at the VA and now Captain America. When you first met the quiet man, he barely said more than ten words while the three of you were at a café in Brooklyn.

‘I know, it sounds stupid. This is my job so why am I feeling so nervous right?’ You chided yourself as you realized how ridiculous you must have sounded.

One thing about Bucky? He knew the right words to say the exact moment.

‘It means you’re human,’ he tells you. ‘Nerves will never leave us till the day we die. It’s up to us to deal with them. Some people deal with it better. Some people? Well… just look at Sam,’ he finishes adding his usual dry humor. ‘The point is, it’s good that you don’t want to make mistakes… but you will. Learning how to accept that fact is what makes you a better person.’

He offers to take your cup back to the kitchen, leaving you to mull over his advice for a while.

When he’s done, he drops by your room, telling you that he’s going for a night jog. ‘I’ll go slow,’ he promises, ‘and maybe we can have some pizza afterwards.’ You accept.

As you pound the pavement with your running shoes, you feel that every muscle in your body is working to pump the much need oxygen. But you feel alive.

You had your reservations running with a super soldier. Especially on a 5 mile run. No surprises there, Bucky kept his promise. He had paced you perfectly - not too slow, not too fast. You ran to keep yourself fit but it was never your cup of tea. There were always exceptions though, like today. You felt that your mind could wander around the never ending grassland that you set up in your mind.

While waiting at for your pizzas Sal’s diner, Bucky decides to start the conversation. ‘Feeling better?’

You were enjoying your coke that was just served, so you didn’t expect the conversation starter from him. Careful not to let the liquid go into the wrong pipe, you answer, ‘Yeah… much. Thanks Bucky.’

He pauses for a moment. This is so not like him, it’s more of Steve’s thing. But Steve isn’t here anymore.

‘Before you begin tomorrow, just take three deep breaths. I can’t guarantee you that you won’t be nervous anymore, but you’ll feel better. And when it’s all over, you realize that it was all ok. Take it from this 107 year old guy here.’

Bucky was right. If you took the time that you spent worrying about things, you could have probably done at least ten other things with that time. Life was unpredictable. There was no use worrying about not being able to control it.

After the quick heart to heart conversation, the two of you happily chomped down on your pepperoni pizzas to replace the calories that you had burned.

Arriving at the compound, you were about to split from Bucky as both your rooms were in different directions.

‘Hey Bucky,’ he turns back waiting for you to finish your sentence. ‘About today, thanks. I mean it. I think I’ll kill it tomorrow.’

In his usual fashion, he gives you a thumbs up before walking back to his room.

‘Let me know how it goes tomorrow! I’ll take you out for Japanese! I know a mean place.’

Yeah, your friendship with Bucky was starting to grow more and maybe, who knows?

A/N: I kinda dig the whole platonic relationships but I also love romantic ones! It’s just that I can’t help but to cringe whenever I write romance stuff so I guess that’ll be a challenge for me in the future! PSA: Be Upfront

Communication is important in RP.

Now, to preface, I am not going to use the really awful phrase "it's a hobby not a jobby" because this is a really sketch take on what is important to people. You can have a hobby mean a lot to you, be you a collector, a gardener, someone that builds model airplanes, a writer, an artist, etc. Those are all hobbies, and the fruits of your labor are NOT only valuable to you and others if you are paid for them. This saying implies that should you never be a published author, never have a painting sell, never do something that can be sold or have a time clock punched, it doesn’t at all matter. It’s a really discouraging thing to be telling people, quite honestly. I have multiple hobbies outside of RP. Kind of really sucks to see constantly they don’t matter because nobody pays me for what I do. I know I’m not the only one who has said this, but the majority aren’t willing to say it amongst the clamoring of ‘rp isn’t a job’ because then you get people jumping down your throat. Hear me out though! I’m not done.

“BUT I HAVE REAL LIFE!”

Yes! So do we all! We all have problems, and things to take care of. The RPC is littered with people with mental illness, neurodivergence, chronic physical illness (I hit all three categories multiple times, LUCKY ME!). Do not, I repeat, do not ever feel like you need to put RP before: bills, marriage/children/other relationships, your health. Literally, do not have your takeaway from this post be these are secondary to your hobby. They are not. Do not get evicted because you were too busy doing RP at your desk at work, that’s just plain dumb af.

You owe people decency means:

-if you can only do aesthetic posts this week because you are low on writing spoons, that’s fine

-if you had work/health/mother-in-law take over you life this week and you literally didn’t have time to log-in even though you wanted to, that’s fine

-if you are sick in bed and can’t bother to write, that’s fine

What it also means:

-dropping what was supposedly a years long ooc friendship because the other mun isn’t dropping their current muse for you and following you into a different fandom ‘because they’re now boring’ and telling them as much in a message...is shitty behavior.

-daily reblogging multiple memes that people are sending in to you, your wire, your discord, ignoring both those and messages to plot, then whining on the dash that no one wants to write with you (also known as trying to guilt trip interaction, obviously you only wanted it from one specific person not the people actively engaging you)...is shitty behavior.

-claiming you’re open for plots and memes, then only replying to the one or two people consistently for 6 months...is shitty behavior.

Again, in case it wasn’t clear- it’s your blog, it’s your life, it’s your health. That’s not in question.

HOWEVER- be upfront and give people some honesty! What do I mean by that?

If it’s feasible, post that you need a writing break, even if it’s going to be indefinite. Take as many fucking breaks as you need to for your physical and mental health to be the best they can be (I’m not going to say great, as I know what it’s like to just have a ‘good’ health day mean ‘it’s less shit than it could be’).

But if the situation is really you only want to write with these one or two people, just say so! It’s your blog, you’re allowed to decide you’re closed for plots, asks, etc. Just don’t lead people on. Don’t say something and mean something else. Don’t keep reblogging your promo and really you don’t want to write, and you don’t plan on taking on new mutuals, and don’t plan on replying to dms or threads from anyone else.

I’ll repeat it a little differently to be sure it’s clear- you dictate your activity level and number of mutuals, when you answer asks, threads, etc. This should be at a level that is suited for you and your life, health, etc.

BUT when you engage in RP you are involving someone else’s free time with yours, and it is not fair to them to act like they do not matter. You have involved someone else. Until you disengage from them, be courteous.

I’ll give you an example. When you ask for that starter on both your dash, then DMs, and act super hyped, getting the other mun excited for it, and then they put the time and effort into writing it up and posting it for you, expecting a reply? Only for you to go and make new blogs and immediately ditch that muse without a heads-up? That’s not really fair to the other mun. You communicated you wanted to write this, you hyped them up, they spent their time and writing spoons on your starter...and then you told them other people were more exciting and a better use of your time.

“BUT I DIDN’T TELL THEM THAT!”

Okay, so you didn’t message them ‘Hey loser, your starter sucked, your muse is boring, and honestly, a different fandom is better! Bye!’ But your actions sure give that impression, and unless you communicate otherwise, it’s a shitty move.

Now yes, sometimes you genuinely forget a starter was written because you thought it was drafted and it wasn’t, dumblr is an ass and loses your draft and then you forgot it, something came up that day and bumped it from your mind, etc. NONE OF THESE ARE WHAT I AM REFERRING TO. I have ADHD, object permanence is the thing my brain does where often unless it’s directly in front of my face, it doesn’t exist, until I find it again. I’m aware these things happen, as are most muns, and we don’t mind! Hell, we usually have in our rules “hey if it’s been a hot minute and we haven’t replied to this, feel free to give us a little nudge to see if it’s been lost” because we all know between brains and dumblr’s everlasting fuckery...shit gets lost.

I’m talking about those times where you just up and leave someone hanging without communication. I’m also not saying it might even be on purpose. What I’m saying is you should consider how other muns feel when you do this, and if you cannot avoid it, at least communicate with them.

“Hey, I’m just no longer going to be writing this muse. Sorry I had you write that starter. Do you want to try something with this new one? This is where my brain is at right now.” “Hey I really can’t be online this month thanks to fill-in-the-blank but I do still want to write when I am able.” “Hey, I see you sent in that ask. I’m only interested in this one ship, and I won’t be taking on new threads, but you’re welcome to follow and maybe I’ll take on new threads later. I’m just writing with these two people right now.”

Communication is something that is a requirement in a collaborative hobby.

I know it can be scary. I know the mentality ‘well they reblogged that meme but it’s not for me, I know they said they want to plot but they don’t mean me’, but you really have to get past that when you roleplay to be fair to other people.

Spoiler alert: the examples of shitty behavior further above are what help feed this ‘that post/meme isn’t for me’ mentality, when you do those things you’re fostering people’s anxiety and rejection sensitivity...just saying.

If someone gets mad at you for communicating with them, they’re a shitty person and block them. Literally if someone has a problem with you for trying to start something, especially as mutuals, you’re losing nothing by not writing with them. Find nicer people. So don’t be afraid to communicate you can’t write currently, you need a break, you’re only writing with these certain people. And don’t be afraid to send in the meme. I promise you, the right people appreciate courteous communication. The ones that don’t...

Again, no one is saying put your life on hold for RP, you’re never allowed to narrow your scope, you’re supposed to always have writing spoons, you need to produce five replies a day or you’re wrong, you always need to log-in to communicate you had a family emergency/depressive episode/etc.

What I am saying, is if you are capable of communicating, respect the time and energy of your fellow muns who may also be very low on spoons and free time themselves, and be honest about where you are at when it comes to taking on new threads, new asks, new partners, etc. Treat others how you want to be treated, and consider you probably wouldn’t like being on the receiving end of the behaviors I’ve described. If you need to be on the clock being paid to be a nice person...please re-evaluate.
