All Boxed Up

Okay, this one is going to be way quicker than my last one. I just got to thinking.

So recently I came across a lovely post made by @insanity-is-just-a-state-of-mind questioning the sheer bullshit power Crowley and Aziraphale have when performing their 'surreptitious half a miracle' on Gabriel. And I highly recommend the post because it really is a thought process with endless possibilities to get stumped by.

But actually I'm not here to talk about the contents of the post. I'm here to talk about the comments and reblogs made on that post. It seems in the spirit of trying to figure out just how our loveable idiots performed such a powerful miracle, people have come up with the most intriguing idea about how it's a possibility Gabriel had the Book of Life inside that cardboard box and how it could've effected the strength of the miracle (Here's the little addition from @drconstellation)

And all of this got me thinking about...how fucking weird that box is, and come to think of it this isn't even a fully thought out idea, more of a surreptitious half an idea, but like....the box was originally empty. Minus the fly.

Like the box was so empty Aziraphale was confused and tried to take a closer look. Nothing in there but that little fly with Gabriel's memories in it that we see hints of flying around the whole season.

Okay, I recall originally thinking that was weird but promptly forgot about it. An empty box? Who cares clearly it's not important.

And then we don't see that box again until later as the series goes on and threads start to unravel, when the box falls out of the sky into Gabriel's arms after mentioning needing to clean out his desk (to which Michael is hilariously baffled/jealous.)

It just falls down and lands into his arms. Obviously empty cause he's yet to put anything into it.

But then we see Gabriel putting something into the box (we soon find out it's the matchbox with the fly.) But we never actually see him put anything else in it.

He just picks it up, writes his message on the bottom and leaves.

(Don't get me started on all these little symbols yet in heaven. If it's an actual language then something tells me there's a smidge of a cypher for us to uncover. But honestly I don't know because it could just be random symbols meant to look like words that aren't actually.)

So we see him kinda...toss the matchbox out of the box before entering the elevator, also the only item we presumably watched him put in. So by all means that box is just empty right? Should just be carrying a fly and some sharpie on the bottom (all weirdly human and materialistic of the him compared to the sleek minimal items we see of the angels through the show, not to mention Michael's pure disgust at touching the match box, a human object.)

So then. This is where I get stumped.

Crowley and crew head back down to Earth (thanks to Aziraphale doing the little halo bit) and we see both angels and demons entering the bookshop, where we reveal to them finally that Jim is Gabriel.

But first Crowley asks Aziraphale where the box is...the boring little box that was empty when he opened it. This time, Crowley opens the box...and it's filled with stuff??? Hello?

I'm not sure if any of the stuff in this box is important or should be looked into too deeply, but...there wasn't stuff in this box before. And I don't know about anyone else, but I had completely forgotten the box was empty up until @drconstellation pointed out that the Book of Life could very well be in that box. And suddenly I was like...wait a minute the box was empty???

So why is there suddenly stuff in it when Crowley opens it? He promptly dumps it all out and turns the box upside down to see what Gabriel wrote on the bottom. And we see Aziraphale observing something on the floor, presumably from the box. But we never see the contents on the floor or what Aziraphale is looking at. He's certainly not looking at the writing on the box that Crowley is looking at.

So I have two thoughts here.

My first one being. What the fuck the box was empty why was there suddenly stuff in it? Why did I forget the box was empty, and why didn't Aziraphale seem to remember it'd been empty either??

Second.

Could this box possibly be related to the scene we just saw? Our dear little murder Hornet in Heaven opening a document that you have to be a Throne, Dominion or higher to view?

Maybe I'm just reaching. Maybe it's not relevant at all. Maybe it doesn't matter that the box was empty and suddenly it wasn't. Or maybe this is another one of those little 'slight of hands' people have been discussing from this season. Or maybe I'm just going crazy and looking for every scrap of anything I can get my teeth on.

This season has me absolutely feral. But anyways I needed to share this. I'll go back to my little hole now until I have more ideas to dump upon you people.

Interpretation. i used to write daisy based on the agents of shield show! i no longer really do. i do still take some inspiration from her character in that show, but on the whole i am completely comic based. specifically i write her with her characterization from secret avengers, secret warriors(vol 1, not vol 2), and basically anything with her in it up until about 2015. i do still think she has inhuman shit going on, but it's complicated. she's a bit of her own thing. also, as much as i don't really use the show as the base for my interpretation anymore, she is still chinese-american, and the incident that caused her to destroy an entire village still occurred before she got adopted at seven months. afterwards, she was raised in louisiana by her adopted parents.

Queue. I am extremely busy!! Especially right now because I am currently planning a big move and have been trying to find a job after graduating. For this reason I am primarily queue based! My asks will almost always be queued and I have a high chance of queuing my threads as well. Threads will come out either at 2pm or 6pm. If you would like for your replies NOT to be queued, message me and let me know!! Sometimes i do not queue things because i get excited :') but i try to stick to queuing.

OC. Crossovers. Duplicates. I LOVE ALL OF THESE!!!!!!!! I am a huge advocate for ocs, especially as an oc writing myself :] I love ocs, give me your ocs. Give me crossovers too!!! Then duplicates, I LOVE DUPLICATE!!! I love discussing them and writing the interactions and WAGH!! Whether it be twin verses or otherwise, I grabby.

Reblogging cause I found this comment thread on that same insta post from yesterday, and it made me laugh

So outside of the person I pointed at with arrows which was funny enough in and of itself, let's look at this big brain in the middle there.

I often love when MC stans argument against Ladrien is that they can't think of ways to make it complex and interesting and therefore it can't be complex and interesting. I'm gonna let yall in on a little secret: just because you're not creative enough to think of something, doesn't mean it's not interesting. It just means you're not creative. 🙃

Ladrien can and does have just as many obstacles as all the other sides. Mutual feelings just isn't one of them. And I know it's challenging to see past that because for so long the entertainment industry has sold us the idea that the point of every love story is to get the guy or girl and then ride off into the sunset and that somehow because they're together all of their problems disappear, but like if yall wanna talk about "real love" real love doesn't fix everything. Real love comes from experiencing trials together and loving each other through them. Life isn't always sunshine and daisies just because you're in love and to think that is childish.

I also love the notion in this that ladrien couldn't reveal those deeper more flawed parts of themselves? Like do yall think when they get together that they're just gonna sit in a room and stare at each other and blush? They can talk to one another. And make mistakes. Volpina already showed us that Ladybug can lose her temper around him, and he will call her out on it. This argument also tends to forget that Adrien IS Chat Noir. He has seen LB at her best AND at her worst. That is the gimmick of the square is that with each dynamic brings a different balance to the relationship.

Marinette is Ladybug. Ladybug's mistakes her Marinette's mistakes and vice versa. They're the same people. I don't understand how people keep missing this. It's not that deep, and you're not onto something.

It might be "easy" for ladrien to get together, but staying together? You need more than love to make a relationship flourish. Ladybug takes her job super seriously which means they likely couldn't be public. They'd have to sneak around because she would absolutely never willingly put him in danger. There would probably be times where she tries to break things off for his safety, not because she doesn't love him, but because she loves him so much she can't stand to put him in danger. Because of the identity barrier, Ladrien likely wouldn't ever truly be happy. That goes for any side really.

LadyNoir, neither of them knows who the other really is. There is no "teehee I'm secretly your best friend." Those personas are all they have of each other on that side, and revealing isn't an option while Hawkmoth is out there. There is also the possibility of Hawkmoth using their love against them, so they would likely have to stay private as well.

Adrinette as we saw in CB brings up that Adrien is a celebrity and his dad is a raging psychopath who would absolutely stomp on his son's feelings in a heartbeat to get what he wants. They would both also be hiding their double life from each other.

MC brings up shockingly similar issues to Ladrien, it would just take them longer to get there, but the end result is the same. Chat is a hero which puts a target on Marinette's back, and seeing as she is the guardian now she wants as little attention drawn to herself as possible because her identity is that much more important. No amount of "loving her worst self" (which what the fuck does that even mean?) can fix that.

The truth is none of the sides is perfect right now. They aren't designed to be because all this time we've been building up to post reveal when all of the sides dissolve and form a completely new post reveal dynamic that is more complete. To pretend that any one side is the solution prereveal is just inaccurate. Development has to occur on all sides to benefit the whole.

I'm tired of all these big brains out here thinking they figured some shit out when their ideas are directly contrasted in canon. Like am I the only bitch out here actually watching these episodes? Watch the damn show with your eyes open.

My guess is that half the toxic m/c are kids or just Karen’s, like I love both ships what’s the difference? That the girl is the superhero?

Listen, Nonny, I'm gonna let you in on a little theory that I've had for quite some time now. Because one trope I used to see a lot with MC is cat boy saving helpless girl and her rewarding him with kisses which like whatever yall do yall but a key point in a lot of MC interactions for them is that the boy gets to save the girl. Now, I'm not saying these people suffer from unconscious sexism based solely on that, but wouldn't ya know it, they particularly find issue with the one side where the girl, the same girl, can save the boy. Where the girl is now the one empowered. And I just find that interesting, ya feel?

Ship what yall want, and I don't say this to be like "buh MC bad" because I enjoy canon MC interactions. What I don't enjoy is the cult like mindset of a chunk of MC stans where their side is the best for usually bullshit reasons *cough true selves* and all other sides can get dunked on. One of my favorite bullshit reasons for an MC stan hating Ladrien is that if Ladrien gets together then MC can't get together and I'm like.

Yall.

They're the same people.

If any side gets together. That's a win for all the other sides. If LadyNoir happens that doesn't mean all the other sides lost. That's just not a thing. They're together.

But like a lot of these stans tend to treat them all like 4 different people, so I can see how that might be a little challenging for them to understand.
