The Vanille Half Siblings

At a glance, one would assume Romeo Torchwick and Lavender Callows had nothing in common, Romeo's an extroverted crime lord happy to flaunt his exploits all around the Kingdom and Lavender's a reclusive cultist indoctrinated by her Father's protege. While both of them follow in their late father's footsteps it's their mother Trivia Vanille aka Neopolitan that connects the two. Growing up with a depressed and emotionally unstable mother it mostly fell on Romeo to raise his younger sister resulting in a close bond early on.

However as Lavender grew older she began to notice the differences in how their mom treated her compared to her older brother especially when it came to their fathers as Neo clearly regretted the union that her daughter came from. While not outright abusive the neglect she faced would cause her to act out and rebel as a means to get her mother's attention eventually growing to resent him and Roman.

Being the Golden child wasn't everything it was cracked up to be as Romeo was groomed to take his father's place as Vale's kingpin, while the impressionable young man quickly grew to enjoy the lifestyle he recognized his own mother saw him more as an extension of the love of her life's legacy than his own person, similarly growing resentful both for choosing his path for him and the neglect his younger sister faced

One day Lavender would reach her breaking point after finding her father's journal and would lash out violently at her brother causing Neo to step in and defend him. Driving Lavender away to seek out her father, the very thing Neo hopped to avoid while breaking the already weak bond with both of her children.

More Powered Spirit loree,,, deaths and stuffss (Phrozyr/Neo, Three/Douglas, Romeo/Theo, Jackie, Zero, Boss demon mentioned and the Inventor implied)

The exact means of creation for the powered spirits has been something I've gone back and forth on,, but i think i have something pretty solid now,,,

I'm thinking each of the powered spirits were created by extremely violent and/or sudden deaths and then existed independently as cryptid-like creatures before being discovered and taken in by Boss demon.

Phrozyr (Neo) fell off an icy mountain. In life, she was a hiking guide for groups of people on the same mountain. As Phrozyr, she served the same function she did in life, keeping people on the right path and away from danger by scaring them away from the wrong path. Occasionally, she would make examples of brash hikers who broke the rules and went off-path (killing them), something she saw as necessary to protect others (as the deaths of these rule-breaking hikers would spread as cautionary tales that deterred people from hiking into dangerous terrain).

Three (Douglas) was a school janitor that either slipped and fell or got pushed down a flight of stairs. As a spirit, they mostly stayed undetectable and could only be seen wandering the halls after hours. Because of their fluid nature, i can imagine them slinking through pipes, faucets, and drains, possibly startling the people who caught a glimpse of them.

Romeo (Theo) died of heart failure in a hospital after an incident on stage put him in stress-induced cardiac arrest ((subject to change)). Romeo, using his reality-bending powers, entertained sick patients with performances as they approached death to give them a gentle ease into the afterlife (but because of the gentle and fun aspect of his shows, many of the patients' egos didn't actually persist into the spirit veil, as a spirit is only created in sudden or high-stress deaths).

I can imagine him being a good bed-side companion to patients that had otherwise been given up on by everyone else, like the very elderly or comatose.

Like,, imagine all the stories of dementia patients seeing monsters at the end of their hospital bed except this time its a funny little robot that does a dance.

And Jackie, of course, became "The Siren of the Bluff" after drowning in a lake. She was the most active and vengeful of the four, dragging victims into the depths of the water, and was responsible for many disappearances when she was most active. As is typical of sirens, she would lure men out into the lake with her song.

Also also, each of the powered spirits were lured away from their individual locations by the cabin (controlled by the crown and utilized by Boss demon). Jackie was the first one to reach the cabin, therefore the first one to reach the crown and become Zero.

A wild deranged Twitter thread came from out of the blue to wreak havoc, oh heavy burden. Typical R&J clownery, but there was one thread that was really unhinged. Clownery is back on the menu, boys

1) Yes, because Romeo isn’t really in love with Rosaline. That’s literally the point. It’s a point of contrast.

2) Romeo does not play it off his answer to Juliet as a joke. His answer to Juliet’s question is: “Th’exchange of thy love’s faithful vow for mine.” This is not a joke. How do you even construe this as a joke???? Romeo isn’t convinced Juliet will pursue a relationship with him—with good reason, since before that Juliet was vacillating something awful.

3) Because lack of sleep = horny. Because not wanting to sleep because you’re in love is not a thing that happens.

4) “Romeo talks about food, which makes us think he is some loathsome rich person” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I CAN’T (also!!!! all the characters except the Nurse and Friar all rich!!! they’re almost all nobles!!!! wtf!!!)

5) Juliet’s lack of agency is a key part of her tragedy…but so is Romeo’s. They are BOTH victimized and BOTH lack agency (age, patriarchy) and have agency at turns (as noble scions). Also, Romeo is literally exiled and wanted for murderer, so yeah.

6) Both of Juliet’s parents betray her, and her Nurse. It isn’t an all-male thing. The Friar helped however he could. And Romeo literally gave his life for her.

7) “Teacher mode off” Take his degree AWAY

“Dumped” implies a prior relationship. Romeo never pursued Rosaline; it was all a one-sided crush on his part. Meanwhile he and Juliet literally get married.

Because EVERYONE that was at the CAPULET party is a CAPULET, it’s true!!!! Mercutio was a CAPULET, Benvolio was a CAPULET, Romeo was a CAPULET, their friends were CAPULETS, the people Capulet invited who were clearly not CAPULETS were CAPULETS. How could he have been shocked that Juliet was a CAPULET at a CAPULET party????

Romeo: I wish Juliet would cast off her veil of virginity, that’d be great ☺️
