"you keep saying we’re just friends, but a friend wouldn’t do this." melissa whispered to lucien, moving her lips close to his ear as she felt his hand inching dangerously close to the hem of her skirt. at least no one would notice, with the park so dimly lit around them. it was too much for her — too much for someone so sentimental, so irrational. she was completely driven by her heart, and lucien was starting to mess with her feelings a little too much.

Lucien: “In the sense of “special”, it’s a white coat. I always wear it for work-related, but it’s the most comfortable to me. On a special private day.....(chuckle) What am I wearing, you want to check it yourself?”

Lucien: "I think it’s a brooch. The light that shines on the chest, should maximizing the wearer’s charm. I really want to give her a ring, but...it seems it have a special meaning.

Lucien: "I want to relax in the beautiful suburbs. If we feel the nature away from the hustle and bustle of the city, I'm sure your tiredness of work will be healed."

lana glances over at him, eyebrow raised, as he leans forward, sarcasm practically emanating out of every pore. god, but he’s so fucking weird. she doesn’t grace his snide comment with an answer, but she can’t help but laugh as he does. “ christ, i know. i think she thinks it makes her sound hip. barely knows how to fucking use facebook. ” she scoffs and takes the final turn in to this local store that she tries to most of her shopping, seeing as isabelle doesn’t care where she gets their groceries as long as she gets them somewhere and they specialize in organic food. lana’s not been vegan for very long - about six months if she guesses - and she knows that part of it stems from the deep, deep guilt that’s always gnawing at her insides. she knows she’s causing deaths by being so apathetic to her mother’s activities, so she focuses all her energy on making sure the food she eats is as cruelty-free as possible. it’s stupid and redundant but it makes her feel a little better. “ no, i’m going to worry about it until you tell me what’s going on, but i know that’ll just incite you to never tell me. ” she grumbles, adding or until my mother decides i’m part of the gang again silently. “ now get out. ” she pops the boot open and hands him a few of the reusable grocery bags. “ what was the deal with you dad ?? ” she says it suddenly, without thinking, maybe just inherently relaxed a little by the unusual lack of animosity between them, and immediately regrets it. fuck. she knows better than anyone about shitty parents - not even considering her psychopathic mother, she hasn’t seen her father in fifteen years - and it’s like she can read it in lucien, like the trauma in both of them can be read in the slope of her shoulders. all she really knows about his father is that isabelle had dragged her to his funeral a while back, and she also knows how much she’d hate it if someone asked her that. instead of taking it back she quickly starts walking, as if the question wasn’t important enough for an answer, like she doesn’t really care, hoping that’ll put him off feeling the need to reply. 

he agrees with her, another small laugh leaving his lips. it’s the first time today he has heard lana laugh, or say something different than spiteful comments about him. this minute right here proves they’re both capable of interacting like normal civil humans, they just, most of the time, choose not to. “ also, facebook sucks. she should have said twitter. ” and this is it for the meaningless chatting; lana keeps pushing lucien to tell her what he knows. she’s a smart girl, she knows that the more she expresses her desire to talk about it, the less inclined he’ll be to do so — she admits it herself. then why keep going? lucien wonders, while they finally arrive at their destination. he was expecting ‘whole foods’ or a chain like that, instead she has chosen a local store, not much big and a little too healthy for lucien’s tastes. lucien does as she says, he unlocks his safety belt and gets out of the car, grabbing whatever she hands over to him as soon as she’s out too. she ignored him when he tried to change the focus of the conversation, so he ignored her when she asked about her mother again, but, when the words ‘your dad’ casually come out of her mouth, lucien cannot pretend he didn’t hear her. what he can do is pretending he didn’t understand her. “ excuse me. what? ” but it’s too late, she has already acknowledged her mistake and she’s walking towards the store’s door without looking back. lucien stands still by her car for half a minute, surprised by the question she has made without thinking, out of curiosity. he knows isabelle is aware of the situation in general, being his mother’s best friend, but it’s the first time lucien realizes lana must have intuited something too. as said before, she’s a smart one, she has had more than ten years to draw her conclusions. when lucien catches up with her, inside the shop, he makes a decision: open up with her, enough to make her even more vulnerable when it comes to him. at least, this is what lucien tells himself — that it’s all part of his sweet sweet revenge. “ you walk too fast. ” then, after a while, he adds: “ what about it? how much of an asshole he was? why i hated him so much? why i’m glad he’s dead? ”

melissa tried to hide the smile that was beginning to form on her face by lowering her head and holding it close to his chest. then she felt his fingers on her lacy underwear, which she had carefully chosen. not that she was planning on showing it to him, but the cards were on the table. "you have that effect on me." she soon replied, spreading her legs a little more. her cheeks blushed at the same moment she decided to place her hand on his lap. "mm, i see you respect our friendship as well."

see, she knew it too. smile pulled at the corners of his mouth at her words, " mhm, so much respect for our friendship. " the blonde guided his hand further but he kept going. digits moved against her clothed core, " wet already? " lucien was going to have his fun with her, that was for sure.

melissa's breath hitched as lucien's finger toyed with the hem of her skirt. her pulse quickened, but she kept her composure, tilting her head to meet his gaze with a playful smirk. "you do," she murmured, her voice low but steady, with the slightest edge of challenge in her tone. "better than anyone, actually." her words lingered in the air between them, heavy with implication. the sound of the theme park buzzed in the background, but it all felt distant, irrelevant. it was just them. she could feel the heat of his hand, the deliberate slowness of his movements, and it sent a shiver through her. melissa leaned in, close enough that her lips almost brushed his ear. "so you must know how much i respect our friendship." she caught his hand with hers, slowly guiding it a few inches under her skirt.

" they don't? " she asked, playing dumb as his hand moved further up. skin was soft underneath his fingertips. " but we're close friends, aren't we? " lucien didn't care about the theme park around them, focus was on her. he saw how she tried to keep the lines of their friendship in her head. but lines were made to be crossed, weren't they? " and as your friend ... don't i know you better than most? " he played with the hem of her pretty little skirt.
