     he wasn’t even supposed to stop here. as much as he appreciates a good small town aesthetic, he’d rather get back to business. the hunt he’s chasing is a few towns over, but his car ran into issues ( poor thing ) and he figured putting it in the shop will be quicker than him trying to fix it himself.  so he’s impatiently waiting in a town--that is until he gets a familiar sense wave over him. fucking shifters, they’re everywhere. eyes glance around, trying to assume which one it is. his stomach drops at the sight of an even more familiar face that matches the sense. hard to mistake it, he does, after all, look exactly like him.  

    there’s a wave of overwhelming feelings that come over him. fear, regret, worry, excitement, confusion. it’s all too much, he has to push everything down. he doesn’t want to end up losing control over his abilities, but the anxiety won’t go away. he quickly grabs his brother’s shoulder, turning him around and without even a hello, he starts, ❝ you and me, we gotta talk. ‘bout---you and all this, ❞ he gives a vague gesture towards him. they need to get somewhere more private. he’s sure talking about what he is in public wouldn’t be good for anybody. even if he’s too impatient to wait for an explanation.

     it’s very rare for jonah to find himself drinking. maybe once every two years at tops. except now he’s drunk and panicking. he has newfound injuries, no secret they came from a recent encounter. rapid, shallow breathing as he tries to get the words he wants to out. ❝ i-i-i can-can’t do it. th-this job, this t-town. i--i can’t, kore. ❞  he feels weak even admitting it. he’s supposed to be strong, emotionless, a cold and brutal hunter, but he feels like everything’s crashing now. he just wants it to stop.

      ❝ have you seen anything-- ❞ a pause. he’s never been very good when it comes to questioning people. even with so much time on his own under his belt, it always feels like a forced, awkward encounter.  he can’t very well ask if any supernaturals have been seen around. not many would take him seriously after that. ❝ have you seen anything strange lately? ❞

      usually, he’s fairly good when it comes to finding his way around. he’s a hunter, it’s part of the job. though, these woods are a tad more confusing than he was expecting. it all seems too blair witch-y ( not that he’s seen more than five minutes of that movie, it’s just an assumption ) for his taste. asking for help also wasn’t a regular occurrence, but with his phone lost, and uncertain if he’d even have cell service anyway, and only seeing one person in however long he’s been out---well he’ll have to suck it up. ❝ yo, i’ve gotten all turned around out here, ❞ a clear of his throat, trying to remember his social skills,  ❝ which way’s the nearest town? or the nearest place with food. ❞

      ❝ you don’t regret it, right? ❞ he’s thought it all over in his head, replayed the moment he decided to suck it up and ask her out. he doesn’t regret it for even a moment ( who knew he could ever be happy? ), but he does feel guilty. realistically, he knows she loves him and this is all his anxiety getting the best of him, but there’s still a part of him that believes he somehow tricked her. that if she had known what he was, the kind of person he really was, and the shit he’s been through ( not that he’s told her any of that yet ), she’d want to run for the hills and never look back. it’s a lot to take in and process. 

       a pause as he chews his lip for a moment. ❝ like----and be honest, i didn’t trick you, right? with this relationship? ❞ what kind of answer he’s expecting, he’s not quite sure. either she’ll help dull his anxiety or he’ll get the answer he’s scared of, but either way, he knows he can’t keep this one bottled up. not if he wants to keep a healthy, stable relationship with her.

     ❝ give me that hand, please, ❞ with his words he holds out his own hand. ❝ let me teach you how to handle all that sadness in your soul. ❞ he’s not entirely sure how, he can barely handle himself, but if there’s anyone worth trying for, it’s her. who would have thought he’d try to take such a parental role towards a werewolf? he finds it unbearable to see her in any sort of pain, even if she’s good at hiding it.

     ❝ so what d’ya know about the weird shit happening? ❞ usually, he’d be much more subtle. impersonate an officer, ask some cleverly disguised, go through some complicated route to dig deeper into what’s really happening---but he’s tired. since it’s not the first time this town has seen something less than natural ( he did do some research before coming ) he figured it’s likely someone’s bound to notice and know what’s happening.

     he’s never been one for dating, never even thought about it before. the hunter lifestyle had never been dating friendly. he wants some sort of life of his own now, though. that want includes someone to spend his time with. ❝ i---okay, so we’re both hunters, right? ❞ it’s an obvious question, but it’s not as if he’s practiced on this sort of thing. ❝ the point is you know how this life is. and i know it’s not i-ideal but--- ❞ he trails off for a moment, ❝ i know i’m not like the best option but, ah, i-i like you. i like hanging out with  you and talking to you and... ❞ he clears his throat, trying to straighten his stance. he can’t remember ever being this nervous before. ❝ i was wondering if you wanna, i don’t know, go on a date with me? ❞
