the sound of a flimsy pamphlet sliding underneath his door is all yoogeon needs to hear to know that the day is starting. and not in a good way. he's not sure why sira - yeyun's innkeeper - is so incessant on stuffing brochures about the insipid town into his room, and so early in the mornings too at that. he's sure that she's aware that he doesn't spare as much as a glance at them considering he always tosses them into the trash bin next to the door as soon as he can before leaving for the day or weekend.

that being said, sira was one of the few individuals yoogeon did remember from the older days despite not having interacted with her much. her family pride in running yeyun inn was known throughout the town and taking into account how  much he remembered sira loving the town, it made some sense why she would try advertising the town's fortes to him. except, he would've expected her to stop with the few brief conversations they've had that he really wasn't interested when he'd say, "i'm not interested."

so at this point in the morning, he's already forgotten that the sheet of paper in his hand is the brochure she had slipped into his room that very morning as he's walking into the lobby. in all honesty, he wasn't trying to be petty - besides the fact that he has been a few times when he was fed up with the random pamphlets - when he headed straight to the trashcan by the door to toss it out. that's when he spots something - a spider- crawling up the wall and immediately reacts, slapping the brochure flat against the wall.

he takes a glance to make sure the small intruder is dead before turning to drop it into the can. it's only when he looks up and catches sira's gaze from behind the desk that he realizes how he looks in that moment. the silence is awkward and there's no denying that yoogeon wishes he would've tossed the sheet away in his room instead as he holds her stare.

"there's uh... a dead spider on it..." yoogeon decides to explain straightforwardly, truly unsure of what reaction he'll incur from the older female.

it’s saddening to me, darling, how hyper fixated the world is on the concept of beauty that they must go and ask the opinion of a faceless individual on that matter. truly, you must get tired of asking me for my opinion all the time, no? humans are creatures of pattern, and my consistent pattern has shown that i never have anything nice to say. but since you asked so nicely, perhaps i will try to be nice for once. 

of course, a list of hotties isn’t complete without the mention of our resident himbo farmer so i’ll start with him first. the sun truly does wonders to a person, surely that’s how kangdae ( @yhkangdae ) got his lovely tan and nice chiseled abs. why, that smile of his shines brighter than the sun even. but i think he’s spent a little too much time in the sun, it’s fried all of his braincells. such a pity, at least he’s still nice to look at. 

perhaps the secret to looking beautiful is to not live in town for this next person also lives outside of town. or maybe it’s the fact that she’s surrounded by the steam from the natural hot springs that the innkeeper, sira ( @sirayh ), can keep her youthful feminine glow so well. i can’t say i’m not jealous, but at the same time i wouldn’t want to be living as a spinster in the middle of the forest like that. maybe if you spent less time trying to beg the youth not to leave town, dear, you’d be married by now. 

i’m starting to think that there is a correlation between having good looks and being brainless as our next gentlemen, kim dau ( @yhdau ) also seems to possess that same issue, opting to use his good looks to earn a few bucks in the meanwhile. or maybe it’s just because working a farm doesn’t require brain and only a lot of brawn. at least he’s loyal to his family, i guess. 

oh dear me, i seem to have forgotten that i was supposed to be nice. i did say i would try, maybe next time i’ll be more successful.

a couple of years ago.

⋆: ― ∘ ･･ it’s with tears in her eyes and a void in her chest that, in her frenzy, yunhee buys a bullet train ticket for that same night. a round trip departing within thirty minutes and returning sunday night. it cost her the savings she’s made in three months, but she didn’t care at the moment. all she wanted to do was to leave the place painted with memories of them.

she packs a light bag, not paying much mind to the clothes she was shoving inside for her blurry vision didn’t allow her to see further past her nose. the student comes to a halt, however, when her fingers curl around a jacket two sizes too big for her. one that wasn’t hers and his scent on it was still ever present. it was in every corner of her room, as if he had made it his own.

her sorrow subsides while anger momentarily takes its place and yunhee throws it across the room, as if that’d do anything to relieve her of the pain. then, without meaning to, she reminisces about a winter night when that same jacket had been wrapped around her before his arms followed suit. snapping out of it, yunhee tries to convince herself that this is nothing but a pebble on the road, like the ones that she’s learnt to skip ever since she was a kid. yet, a new set of tears said otherwise.

for the first time in many years she allowed her need of protection, reassurance and a set of arms to fall back onto to come to light and yunhee admits that she misses home more than she lets on. yunmi is her original destination as she boards the train to busan that night. yunmi is the one she wants to rely upon for the umpteenth time while getting onto the last bus that’d take her directly to yunhwa. nonetheless, as she arrived at her hometown, yunhee belatedly realised that there are a couple of obstacles in her way to get to yunmi, namely their parents that were likely to berate her for coming home without warning.

but more so, about her current state.

she was utterly embarrassed that a boy had so much power over her and that a single sentence was enough to tear her into pieces. extremely uncharacteristic of yunhee, she wasn’t about letting her family witness her downfall, much less when she didn’t have the strength to argue back. one place comes into mind, somewhere that she considered a safe haven, a home away from home. yeyun inn.

that’s how yunhee ventured into her favorite path hoping that the fresh air of the forest and the cold wind against her skin would help clear her mind and ease her heart. but, as she walks through the front door and sees a woman she’s long considered family across the lobby, yunhee breaks down for the third time that night. not only because of feelings of sadness and nostalgia, but also in relief for being somewhere safe.

“sira.” yunhee calls, her voice above a whisper as she moves closer to the other woman. “sira.” this time, her tone raises an octave with desperation clinging onto it while hoping to catch her attention and, when she does look at her, a broken sob leaves her lips. “he broke up with me.”

first off, i’d like to give a warm welcome to all of our new members! i’m sorry i haven’t gotten around to messaging you all but i hope you have been enjoying your time at yh so far!

this past week has been very very overwhelming and like a smart person i should’ve requested for a semi hiatus at the least but i didnt.... so i am here to save my poor muses asjfieoaj i have a tracker for yoogeon below. for anyone tagged please let me know if you’d like to drop any threads. i will slowly be getting back to all messages and finishing meme asks before attempting anything new so that you guys won’t have to keep waiting on me!
