it's still sunday somewhere, in space and time

i'm gonna give two things because this is such an interesting question.

for something more cerebral, he's turned on by someone speaking their mind. even if he disagrees, which is probably more than half the time, he likes when someone can be assertive of themselves without being rude or condescending. i'm handwaving the ~disapproval~ mechanics for this because yes, he likes being right and hates when someone is yapping about something they don't understand, we all know this, but when someone effectively puts someone in their place, including him, he's bricked. not really unusual, but. shrugs.

a mundane thing though that's more unusual is hair. and if anyone makes a bald joke, i'm showing up at your house. he likes the care and upkeep. he likes playing with it. if someone offered to let him put oils or creams or even wash their hair for them, he'd be a puddle, because it's something he deems very intimate and personal. it's a sign of trust to let someone in that close, and that's probably the deeper reason why he likes it so much, but he'll never admit it.

Lyf getting a much needed vacation.

It was cold.

When Lyf opened their eyes, the first thing they noticed was how cold it was. So cold. They coldness was something they grew used to, but there was something different about it. It was damp. The fog circled around them and felt as it it was going to encase them in a cocoon.

To keep them forever.

They laid in bed, unmoving. It appeared their luck ran out. The fog had chased them for so long, it was only a matter of time before it caught them. As upset as they should be, it felt nice. It was comforting, almost. They stared into the misty abyss around them. "No," they said, though their voice sounded so far away. Even to their own ears. "This can't be the end."

"Can't it?" Another voice spoke, a new Lyfrassir settling on the bed next to Lyf. "I mean, isn't it so cozy here? Look at you. You've hardly gotten the strength to sit up. Why waste the energy?"

Lyfrassir was right. Lyf hardly had the energy move. It was like the bed and themself were one. Even so... they pushed themself. Got up on their elbow before being forced back down by the other them.

They were so cold. Lyfrassir looked pale and sickly. Almost transparent. Yet Lyf could still touch them. "Stay here," they said with feigned niceness. They weren't giving them an option. Could Lyf fight back? Maybe. Did they want to was the real question. "Why do you want to go back? They don't need you. They're fine without you, all of them. Marius can't be arsed to spend time with you, he's too busy with the band! And Sinclair? Sinclair doesn't even remember you!" Somehow, Lyfrassir was on Lyf, straddling their waste and holding them in place by their wrists above their head. "Stay. You're safe here. You're loved here, Lyf."

Lyf was safe there. Lyf was loved there. Lyf...

Lyf.

Lyf..?

"Lyf?"

Lyf sat up quickly, sweat pouring from their pores.

"Woah!" Sinclair said, stepping back. "Hey... hey, sorry. You looked like you were having a nightmare... you okay?"

Lyf wasn't. No, they were they furthest thing from okay. They breathed quickly, in and out, but nodded anyway. "I-I.. I'm okay. Yes, I'm. Fine... I'm sorry." They patted their face gently, getting it together. "Sorry, I... is everything okay?"

Sinclair didn't look convinced. Lyf didn't blame them. Still, they didn't seem ready to press for real answers. "Dinner is almost ready. Come set the table." They turned and left the bedroom.

Lyf sat there for a moment longer, wiping their tears away quickly. Was it the fog or just a dream? There was a dampness in the air that told them which, but they pushed it aside and stood. They were fine. They were okay. They just needed to keep the fog at bay.

They'd figure out how after a good meal.
