     she knows the scent of another dragon’s blood anywhere.  something humans cannot pick up, it seems, so she is safe for now.  however, can the same be said for the other?  is she ready to show her heritage?  — upon passing the stranger on the sidewalk, cali immediately turns and stands still. 

        ❝  you —  ❞  she shuts up.  but now the situation would be more awkward than it already is, and she continues after a gulp.  ❝  are of dragons ...?  ❞

     this city is weird.  it is nothing like she’s ever experienced — and that’s coming from a girl who lived in a sky city.  a sigh. 

        ❝  ah, excuse me —  ❞  she speaks up to a passerby.  the bright, bold color of the other’s hair brings a smirk to her lips.  ❝  do you happen to know where uh... the condos are?  oh, and ... your hair is very pretty, by the way.  ❞

     fear.  an emotion which hardly affixes to cali.  it’s as if the minute she bears witness to the flow of zombies and ghosts, the abilities of wielding a spear eludes her.  she grips the wooden replica shakily, unused to actually combating something ready to steal her life. 

        ❝  ah --- !  ❞  the scent of someone recognizable catches her attention.  she attempts to move through more open areas as to not get caught. ❝  romanus!  be careful!  ❞

        ❝  stop staring at me.  ❞  she remarks towards the bird perched upon the girl’s shoulder.  her sight swaps between the two, arms crossed sternly and features expressionless. however, a feeling of unease washes over cali’s nerves.  something about this raven is different, certainly — but for now, she’s intent on prying the beady eyes off of her body.

     seeing another dart headfirst into a group of monsters forces a sigh to fall from her lips.    

     finally getting a hold of her footing, the dragonkind slips gracefully around the backsides of shamblers.  a forceful thrust from her wooden spear pierces their craniums not without difficulty given the material of the weapon.  though, wood is better than being defenseless.  ah, if only she still had her offensive fire magics. 

        ❝  you need to be more mindful of what you’re getting into ...  ❞

        ❝  hey ... what’s in there?  ❞  cali gestures her arm towards the window of a small cafe.  taking a peek through the glass, an innocent curiosity begins to unravel its thread.  it’s not that she hasn’t seen cafes before when she was a small child, but she pieces together that this city and alerun are vastly different. 

       ❝  i-i mean ... do you know what they serve?  ❞

     there is nothing worse than losing something that holds high value to you.  especially when it’s one card out of seventy-eight that happens to be missing.  cali would much rather keep to herself, but it seems this particular moment calls for drastic measures.  she wanders around until someone, anyone catches her sight.  a woman satisfies her desire for assistance, and she taps her on the shoulder. 

        ❝  um, excuse me ... i lost a card that kind of looks like this, art-wise.  ❞  the dragonkind pulls out a bright orange card.  ❝  except it’s dark blue instead of... well, the Sun.  have you ... seen it anywhere, maybe?  ❞

     after countless shamblers fall by her hand, there comes a time where she needs to rejuvenate herself.  droplets of perspiration form on her forehead and neck, and at this she calls a break.  it would allow her to heal herself on bruised skin.  

     though what she didn’t realize was there were spectres polluting the area which she aimed for.  her grip loosens on her wooden pole, assuming the worst has passed for a good few minutes.  without such perception or a keen eye on the objects around her, she walks unknowing into danger.

        ❝  what —  ❞  she huffs after opening her mouth.  as antisocial as she always was, it seems the amount of strange people in the city is bringing out her ability to call out on the abnormal.  though, cali doesn’t know what exactly is normal, being an outcast since she was a teenager.  call it a curiosity more than a judgement. 

        ❝  in a tree?  ❞ 

     she cannot wrap her head around why there was a human in a tree, however.

        ❝  huh.  ❞  the people around the city just keep getting stranger and stranger.  though she has no right to complain, for not being a human herself — but now she’s seeing things that don’t even look remotely familiar.  cali just simply stands there, hand to cheek, lost in thought.  her eyes are staring right at him.

        ❝  a fae — ?  ❞  perhaps, but she looks different from the ones cali knows from her home — no, birthplace.  not necessarily a home anymore.  with intrigued eyes, she observes the movements of the other before approaching.  it’s obvious by her expression that she is not used to speaking first to others, if at all.

        ❝  hey, where are you from?  ❞

     fear of the night was never an issue, especially because the stars consoled her when unhealthy thoughts consumed her mind.  however — that was in the same forest every night.  now that this is a new environment, anything could pop up.  even an innocent bystander that creates no threat.  

     the dragonkind quickly runs behind a building corner leading into an alleyway with a yelp upon hearing footsteps.

        ❝  ...  ❞  a wide, piercing stare.
