MORNING  AFTER  MEME.

He  didn't  remember  when  they  fell  asleep.   He  remembered  Sam  coming  over  ,  he  remembered  the  two  of  them  ordering  in.   Talking  for  what  felt  like  hours.   It  had  been  weird  ,  getting  close  to  Sam.   He  certainly  hadn't  expected  it  ,  but  now  that  it  had  happened  ,         (  he  actually  found  himself  missing  the  other  guy  when  he  wasn't  around.  )   Lighting  up  a  little  bit  when  he  walked  into  the  room.   That  had  been  more  than  obvious  the  second  he  had  shown  up  that  evening.

And  then  …  After  they  talk  for  hours  …  Oh  fuck!

Eyes  snapped  to  the  right  of  him.   He  would  never  have  had  Sam  sleeping  close  to  the  metal  arm.   Not  the  first  time  at  least.   In  fact  ,         (  he  was  surprised  he  had  opted  to  leave  it  on  at  all.  )   As  much  as  he  might  think  he  trusted  himself  ,  he  still  had  his  moments  of  doubt  when  it  came  to  his  ability  to  see  present  from  memory  fresh  out  of  sleep.   Looking  to  his  right  ,  there  was  Sam.   Morning  sunlight  shining  on  him  a  little  through  the  window.   Bucky  let  out  a  sigh  ,  mouth  hanging  open  in  a  slight  state  of  shock  over  the  events.   He  should  wake  him  up.   No  ,  no  he  should  let  him  sleep.   When  some  sun  seemed  to  cause  Sam  to  stir  ,  making  the  decision  for  him  …  Bucky  moved  to  sit  up  a  little  straighter.   ❛  H-Hey  uh  …  Mornin.  ❜   He  said  quietly.

There  was  a  squeeze  ,  followed  but  a  slight   choking  noise.      Arms  wrapped  around  the  Soldier's  midsection.   Giving  a  firm  but  certainly   not  offensive   hug  to  his  torso.   Arms  raised  up  to  make  room  ,         (  icy  blue  hues  looking  down  to  find  Barton  clinging  to  him.  )   Then  ,  lips  on  the  brunette  curl  into  a  slight  smirk.      Reveling  in  how  fucking  adorable  he  looks  doing  that.   A  question  of  how  he  got  so  lucky  flashing  through  his  mind  ,  before  arms  come  down  to  wrap  around  the  archer.   ❝  Someone's  affectionate  t'day.  ❞   He  teased  while  his  form  turned  to  find  a  more  comfortable  purchase  of  positioning.   ❝  And  what  brought  this  on  ,  huh?  ❞

           Brows  furrowed  at  her  admittance.   If  she  had  done  this  for  him  ,    he  never  would  have  asked  her.   Guilt  had  been  sitting  in  his  chest  like  a  heavy  hammer  ,  only  to  find  that  this  had  been  done  for  some  benefit  to  him.   What  was  he  supposed  to  say  to  that?         (  how  was  he  supposed  to  react  when  he  was  just  now  finding  out  about  this.  )    A  few  heavy  breaths  draw  in  and  out  ,   drawing  his  shoulders  up  and  down  with  each  breath.   The  question  of  ‘why’  still  sitting  on  his  lips.   Wanting  to  come  out.   But  fear  fought  to  pull  them  back  ,  but  no  longer.

           ❝  Why?   Nia  ,  babe  why  didn't  you  come  and  talk  to  me  about  this?  ❞   Even  now  ,  there  was  no  suggestion  that  Bucky  was  upset.      Only  worry  for  what  complications  this  might  bring  her  or  them.   ❝  I  can  handle  it  ,  you  don't  need  to  add  more  stress.  ❞

        The  soft  light  of  the  moon  shown  through  the  large  window  of  the  estate.   The  evening  had  been  long  and  luxurious  ,    but  right  now  he  just  wanted  his  arms  around  her.   Holding  her  close  to  him.   It  was  comforting  ,          (  something  he  didn't  get  enough  of  in  his  line  of  work.  )   Not  very  many  could  handle  this  sort  of  life  ,    but  she  did  it  like  a  pro.   He  often  times  found  himself  enamored  by  how  well  she  did  in  this  life.   Meant  to  be.

           Icy  blue  hues  gazed  adoringly  back  at  her.   As  if  the  she  hung  the  stars  with  her  big  doe  like  eyes.   Large  weathered  hands  ,  scared  from  years  of  murders  he  had  no  control  over  ,      now  gentle  and  loving  at  he  holds  her  head  in  his  hands.   One  metal  ,  one  flesh.         (  both  of  them  him  in  some  way.  )   By  this  point  being  some  of  the  things  people  came  to  know  Bucky  Barnes  for.   She's  always  seen  more  in  him  than  others  did.   Always  seeing  the  good  that  he  could  offer  the  world  ,  even  still.

           Facing  one  another  ,  legs  linked  with  one  another  in  order  to  allow  the  other  to  be   as  close  as  possible.    She  really  had  shown  him  how  to  love  again  after  all  these  years.   Made  him  feel  like  he  was  worth  the  new  burden  he  held.         (  she  believed  in  him  when  even  he  couldn't  find  the  strength  to.  )   His  right  hand  reaches  to  tuck  a  this  lock  of  dark  hair  behind  her  ear.       Pressing  his  forehead  against  her  own.

           ❝  And  I'm  yours  ,  always.  ❞   There  was  a  tired  breath  that  left  the  former  assassin.    Though  not  one  that  suggested  the  exhaustion  brought  on  by  her.   It  was  more  like  a  tired  breath  being  released  when  finally  allowed  to  rest.   ❝  You  have  everything  of  me.   That'll  never  change.  ❞

           He'd  completely  lost  track  of  the  time.   He  had  tried  to  get  some  sleep  ,    he  tried  to  most  nights.   His  mind  never  seemed  to  want  to  work  with  his  body  for  the  rest.   Admittedly  ,  trying  wasn't  something  most  would  consider  being  what  he  had  done.         (  laying  in  bed  and  jumping  up  at  the  first  nervous  feeling  was  more  like  it.  )   The  hope  ,  had  been  that  he  would  get  tired  enough  to  get  some  sleep.    Apparently  he  was  wrong.   No  ,  in  reality  ,  it  was  nearing  6am  ,  and  Bucky  hadn't  had  a  lick  of  sleep  the  whole  night.   While  it  wasn't  abnormal  for  Bucky  ,  the  brunette  still  knitted  his  brows  together  with  a  sigh  before  rubbing  his  face  over  once  with  his  hand.

           At  least  there  was  process  in  knowing  this  wasn't  a  good  sign.         (  or  maybe  that  was  just  the  embarrassment  he  was  feeling.  )   ❝  Uhh  ,  guess  I  did.  ❞   He  mused  while  taking  one  last  glance  at  the  time  on  his  phone  before  putting  it  face  down  on  the  table  ,  next  to  the  weapons  he  had  been  cleaning.   ❝  Guess  I  musta  lost  track  uh  time.  ❞   Or  didn't  want  to  admit  that  the  memories  the  night  before  were  real.

           Bucky  stood  up  from  the  table.   Glancing  from  side  to  side  before  wiping  his  hands  off  on  his  jeans.   ❝  I'll  be  fine  though.   Slept  in  yesterday  ,  so  I'll  be  good.  ❞      Another  lie.   He  had  only  slept  a  couple  hours  the  night  before.         (  thank  god  the  only  one  who  could  rat  him  out  on  that  was  alpine.  )    He  quickly  decided  coffee  was  a  good  distraction  from  the  truth  around  his  loss  of  sleep.   ❝  I  uh  ,  wasn't  sure  when  you  were  gonna  be  up.   Woulda  had  coffee  ready.  ❞

The  longer  he  was  in  the  place  ,  the  longer  he  could  see  how  people  lost  themselves.   Not  that  he  had  lost  his  focus  ,         (  but  certain  things  that  didn't  make  sense  before  made  sense  just  a  little  more.  )   Here  you  weren't  a  person.   You  were  a  product.   Something  for  them  to  use  and  sell.   Here  you  were  an  asset.   Nothing  more.   While  accepting  that  seemed  all  well  and  good  initially  ,  he  had  seen  enough  people  in  Vought  get  swallowed  whole  by  the  kind  of  hurt  and  loneliness  that  could  come  around  from  something  like  that.         (  Some  days  he  wondered  if  this  way  was  even  worth  it.  )   But  people  like  Annie  still  gave  him  hope  that  he  wasn't  chasing  a  dead  end.

Being  here  though  ,  with  her.   It  was  easy  to  nod  along  with  what  she  said.   ❛  I  think  I've  needed  that  more  than  anything  ,  being  in  this  place.  ❜   It  was  like  a  hell  ,  decorated  with  marble  ,  gold  plating  ,  and  all  the  fluff  and  pampering  to  keep  them  content  in  their  enclosures.   Not  completely  content  though.   Not  always.   He  had  been  walking  toward  her  ,  rounding  from  the  island  of  the  in  suite  kitchen  of  his  unit.   Soft  glow  of  the  skyscrapers  outside  with  the  lowered  lighting  of  the  apartment  giving  them  a  warm  inviting  mood.   Icy  blue  eyes  were  hooded  with  want  and  desire.   ❛  Lets  just  feel  t'night  then.   Give  ourselves  a  reason  t'keep  up  with  all  this.  ❜

She  was  right  ,  the  probably  were  gonna  catch  them.   That  only  made  it  feel  all  the  more  exciting  though.   ❛  Only  if  they  hear  you  ,  angel.  ❜   He'd  come  to  love  the  little  pet  name.         (  even  more  now  that  he  knew  what  she  was.  )   His  literal  own  angel.   Absolutely  perfect  for  him  in  every  way.   The  Avengers  party  had  gone  on  a  little  longer  than  Bucky  would  have  wanted.   And  while  they  couldn't  very  well  just  get  the  hell  out  of  there  early  ,         (  he  had  other  plans  for  how  they  could  pass  the  time.  )   Then  he  could  get  her  home  and  love  her  proper.

What  the  hell  was  Bucky  doing?!   Enjoying  the  moment  ,  that  was  what  he  was  doing.   How  long  had  it  been  anyways  since  Bucky  had  just  let  go  and  allowed  himself  to  just  enjoy  life  for  once.         (  and  enjoy  someone  else  too  while  he  was  at  it.  )   Tony  and  Bucky  had  been  getting  close  recently.   Really  working  through  things.   The  impossible  was  happening  in  more  ways  than  one  it  seemed.   Not  even  Bucky  had  realized  that  things  were  going  this  well.

This  was  unexpected  to  say  the  least.   He  was  still  waiting  to  find  he  had  woken  up  from  a  dream.   But  no  ,  they  were  here.  This  was  happening  ,  they  were  doing  this.   Sitting  in  his  room  ,  with  their  legs  wrapped  in  one  another  ,  it  seemed  like  the  earth  stood  still  for  a  moment.         (  everything  except  the  two  of  them  and  that  room.  )   It  was  quiet  in  the  room.   Just  their  breathing  and  some  gentle  muse  playing  ever  so  softly  in  the  background.   It  was  understandable  for  her  to  be  nervous.   He'd  be  lying  himself  if  he  said  he  wasn't  nervous  himself.   He  couldn't  begin  to  explain  how  it  felt  to  be  trusted  enough  to  be  someone  she  would  trust  enough  to  let  this  close  ,  and  he  wasn't  planning  on  messing  this  up  for  her  either.

Seeing  her  nervousness  ,  he  reached  gently  to  cup  her  cheek.   Gently  guiding  her  attention  to  look  at  him.   Showing  nothing  but  a  caring  ,  loving  ,  and  protective  smile  on  his  features  when  her  big  eyes  met  his  own.   ❛  We  can  stop  whenever  you  want  to.   Just  let  me  know  ,  kay?   I  love  you  Ani.  ❜   He  waited  for  a  nod.         (  a  sign  to  show  him  that  she  was  okay.  )   He  then  leaned  in  ,  using  that  hand  that  was  cupping  her  cheek  to  gently  hold  the  side  of  her  head.   Beckoning  her  to  him  if  she  would  allow.   When  their  lips  met  ,  he  couldn't  help  but  melt  into  the  contact.   Her  lips  softer  than  he  had  remembered  them  being  when  they  first  kiss.   Or  maybe  that  was  just  the  moment  running  away  with  him.

it's  cradled  and  sleeping  in  her  arms,  the  little  puppy  she'd  found  in  the  alley  way.  it's  dirty,  it's  so  dirty,  but  she  doesn't  mind  because  of  course  she  couldn't  just  leave  the  poor  thing  all  by  itself.  a  little  skip  as  she  crosses  the  threshold  of  the  apartment,  calling  bucky's  name  in  a  sing-song  tone.

Ani  wanting  to  get  out  more  on  her  own  was  a  great  idea.   In  theory.   They  hadn't  really  talked  about  the  rules.   What  to  do  and  more  importantly  ,  what  to  not  bring  home  to  the  apartment.   Not  that  he  didn't  want  her  to  make  this  place  feel  more  at  home  for  her.         (  that  was  exactly  what  he  wanted  her  to  do.  )   His  hope  was  that  he  would  come  to  see  this  place  as  her  home.   But  bringing  home  a  puppy  was  something  they  needed  to  talk  about  before  doing.   Hearing  her  come  in  ,  he  was  in  the  bathroom.   Finishing  up  with  some  cleaning.   Weekends  were  usually  days  when  he  tried  to  get  that  done  if  he  wasn't  on  a  mission.

Coming  out  of  the  bathroom  ,  eyes  went  wide  at  the  puppy  covered  in  dirt  and  grime.   His  expression  softened  from  the  surprise  ,  his  shoulders  falling  some  as  he  smiled  and  looked  at  Ani.   ❛  Well  isn't  this  a  cutie.   Where'd  ya  find  this  one?  ❜   Mostly  questions  to  figure  out  if  he  needed  to  take  this  dog  back  anywhere.         (  though  he  seriously  doubted  it  would  be  well  off  where  it  came  from.  )   He  looked  over  the  puppy  as  he  approached  them  casually  ,  a  soft  smile  when  he  seem  happy  to  see  Bucky  ,  only  for  Alpine  to  hiss  loudly  before  running  off  to  Bucky's  room.

❛  I  thought  that  might  happen  ,  ❜   He  scoffed  as  he  watched  the  cat  slink  off  ,  before  looking  back  to  Ani  and  the  puppy.  ❛  Did  uh  …  Did  we  talk  about  getting  a  puppy?  ❜   He  knew  it  had  come  up.   That  he  said  they  would  talk  about  it.   But  he  had  been  hoping  for  a  little  bit  more  time  for  them  to  talk  about  it.   The  puppy  was  pretty  cute  though.

Running  from  the  gang  they  had  been  part  of  was  going  to  be  no  easy  task.   He  tried  to  be  frank  with  her  from  the  start  ,  and  he  and  Steve's  call  had  still  caused  friction.   Enough  that  she  had  suggested  maybe  he  stay  at  the  clubhouse  instead  of  coming  back  to  Steve  and  Nat's  place  ,         (  to  which  said  friend  had  convinced  him  to  go  talk  to  her  about  it.  )   Talking  had  only  happened  for  so  long  ,  before  they  were  in  one  another's  arms.   The  plans  of  him  staying  the  night  at  the  clubhouse  long  since  forgotten  as  he  kicked  the  door  to  the  guestroom  they  had  been  staying  in  closed.

Laying  her  on  the  bed  ,  there  was  a  hungry  look  in  hiss  eyes.   All  of  this  was  because  they  needed  one  another  more  than  they  felt  the  need  to  stay  alive  without  one  another.   Already  ,         (  she  was  being  braver  than  he  would  have  ever  given  her  credit  for.  )   and  he  wasn't  planning  on  being  that  fool  again.   Worry  would  still  always  be  there  for  her.   Which  had  been  the  main  source  of  why  he  had  been  so  stubborn  before.   He  was  always  willing  to  adjust  where  needed.   He  loved  her  ,  and  only  wanted  to  see  her  safe  an  happy.

Even  at  the  expense  of  him  looking  like  a  complete  idiot.

Looking  down  at  her  ,  a  hand  reached  to  tuck  some  blonde  locks  behind  her  ear.   Taking  a  moment  to  marvel  at  her  some.         (  how  lucky  he  had  gotten  to  be  the  one  that  she  fell  for.  )   He'd  never  understand  what  she  saw  in  him.   But  never  stop  counting  his  blessings  either.   He  smiled  ,  white  teeth  flashing  in  the  dark  of  the  room.   ❛  God  you're  beautiful.   How'd  I  get  so  lucky.  ❜
