 though she’d done it multiple times before, vex’ahlia wasn’t expecting to wake up out in the woods this day. the last thing she remembered was putting gwen down and going to bed with percy by her side. now she was outside?? it made no sense. there was no trace of her husband or children, or her bear for that matter. just trees for what looked for miles. no semblance of a castle or the city of whitestone. so she clearly wasn't in the parchwood.

finding a path and exiting the woods, she approached the nearest person walking. “excuse me. can you tell me where i am? i’ve seemed to have teleported here or something. i have no idea what’s happened.” she was surprisingly staying quite calm, considering her circumstances..at least that what it would look like to this person or any other stranger. she was panicking on the inside.

vex walked out, head down. she's never been so disappointed in herself and embarrassed. sure, she and vax have had short stints in jails when they were kids. it was either only a couple days, or if it was longer, vax would break them out and they'd be out of town before any guards even noticed they were gone. this was completely different. even though it was some strange charm or magic, she still felt guilty. none of this would have happened if she hadn't grabbed fenthras on her way out of her house. thoughts of 'what if' swirled through her head until she heard her name. she looked up with sad eyes. when he hugged her she wanted to push him away - she didn't deserve sympathy - but she couldn't. instead, she just melted into his arms and sighed. "why did this happen? why me?" she was asking rhetorically but she'd be much more relieved if he had some sort of answer. even if it was a bullshit one.

Percy was waiting for her outside the jail. Waiting for her to be released. When he heard of course it shocked him. Murder was not something he thought she was capable of, not of innocent people but he was also not one to judge considering who he had been. He would stand by her no matter what and be there for her. "Vex." He sighed with relief upon seeing her and went over to her, wrapping his arms around her. "Are you alright, my love?" He looked down into her eyes, concern in his own.

Was that [ZULEYKA SILVER]? Oh no no, that was just [VEX’AHLIA DE ROLO], a [CANON CHARACTER] from [CRITICAL ROLE]. They are [65/LOOKS THIRTY TWO] years old and [ARE] aware that they are not actually from Washington DC. Too bad they can’t stray from this city for long.

How long has your character been in washington: only a few days

Job: unemployed / hero

Where has your character been pulled from in their fandom: the end of campaign 3! vex is from campaign 1, vox machina, but they had a few cameos in c3 so i'm taking her from there!

Has magic affected your character: barely. she does have all her memories, but she wasn't 'turned' human. she's a half elf and still has her pointed ears.

Anything else? as mentioned, vex is from the first campaign of critical role. here's her first intro i made which has a majority of her background info from the campaign. the only new stuff that would be different is that she now has all 5 kids (instead of just vesper), though they're still in whitestone. the most important things from the old intro that i'm going to mention here are: she has a twin brother, vax'ildan, and she's married to percival, both also members of vox machina.

vex thinks for a moment, “maybe you should try something completely opposite then. like a barista or store clerk,” she shrugged. maybe she wasn’t good at thinking of suggestions after all. it was a start at least. she beamed, “he is! he hasn’t been here long. a couple weeks maybe? i never asked when we found each other. i was just relieved to see him again. much younger than i know him though, and missing a lot of memories. i’m taking it slow with him though. i don't want to overwhelm him with information of our lives - a future he has yet to live.”

she shrugs nonchalantly, “perhaps.” she looks up through her lashes before lifting her chin and smiling at him. “it was true when i told saundor, and even before then. my heart has always been yours, percival.” she blushes at his praises. even all these years later (for her) there were times when she felt she didn’t deserve them, her father’s distain creeping into her mind. she always takes them though. percival’s words meant more to her than anything. “not even cassandra?” she teases, “keyleth? pike? allura? we know many phenomenal women. you however, my love, are the smartest man i’ve ever know.” she coos.

things like this didn't scare vex anymore. she was used to death, no matter how mysterious. she's mostly gone into protection mode. she can't help those who have been murdered, but she can make sure people are safe from any crazy people who try to take advantage of this situation and do their own killings. bow across her back, she approaches a person, "how's it going over here? is everyone okay so far?"

vex’ahlia looked around, reading the facades and store names, none of them what she’s wanting. “excuse me” she went to the nearest person, “guess i’m in the wrong place... i was told there was a bowyer around here? i think the last person i asked gave me bad directions. do you know if there’s one nearby?”

having gotten her fill of the party for now, vex headed out to the garden for some fresh air. she was out there on her own for a while; she wasn’t sure how much time had passed. suddenly, the wind shifted and the temperature dropped, and she knew something was up. she could see things creeping toward the outer edges of the garden (thanks to her darkvision) but nothing seemed threatening yet. then vex heard a crash (a few actually, probably breaking glasses) and screams and she knew it was serious inside. she looked around exasperated, trying to figure out what to do considering she didn’t have a weapon of any sort. fenthras would be very helpful right now. that’s when she noticed some bats flying overhead that suddenly turned into people and attacking others. biting them, charming, everything. “oh fuck no.” it had been nearly 11 or 12 years since she had to deal with the briarwoods in whitestone, then entropis, then her wedding. she was not about to deal with vampires tonight. she saw people starting to run out toward the gardens - basically anywhere that wasn’t the white house. “stay back!!” she ordered, hoping no one would come near her. (though 120 ft. radius is quite a bit...) “shield your eyes!” it was up to the people around her to listen to her now. it was out of her hands. she ran to the middle of the gardens, hopefully out of everyone’s line of sight - at least for a moment - and invoked the blessing of the dawnfather. now she was a beacon of light in this place, but at least she could hear the screeches of the various vampires wilting away and turning to ash. she yelled out in case there were still people around “unfortunately this lasts for an hour but you’re free to hang around me if you don’t want to be a vampire snack.”

ps. it’s not a blinding light. just a bright light. so you can decide if your muse can handle it or not :))

hours passed and vex waited. she had nothing better to do. she sat silently and honestly, probably wouldn't have heard him at all if she were doing anything else. vax being sneaky was a blessing and a curse. but she knew he was coming. when he approached her cellm her voice trembled a little as she whispered, "are you sure you should be doing this brother? i'm all for a good jailbreak, but i don't know...it doesn't seem right in this place. if you get caught, you'll get thrown in here with me." did she want out? of course. but she had a feeling she'd be let out in a day or two anyways. that's what she'd heard though the grapevine.

Hey it worked at least. Vax got a small chuckle out of her. That's always something. "I don't know. . .I can only assume. . .the magic took over you for you to. . .end up here." It's the only explanation; Vex would never do something like this on purpose. "But I will get you out of here Vex. I will do what I can." Even if Vax has to do a jail break or leave Whisper so she can throw it and make her escape that way.

vex nods, "it's happened to me. worst couple of months of my life. i was so confused. but luckily my brother was patient with me and answered every little question i had." thank the gods she at least knew who vax was during that time. it would have been horrible otherwise. she nodded, "agreed. it's nothing compared to what i'm used to. but i'm glad to at least have four walls and a bed. i've done my time in nature."

looking around for a familiar face..it was difficult considering most everyone was wearing a mask, and if they weren’t, they were in costume. vex was preceptive though and was pretty sure she saw at least one person she knew. approaching them, she took another glass off a tray going by and offered it to them. “enjoying yourself? or just trying to get through the night?” she hoped this was someone she knew, but if it wasn’t, it was a new friend for the night she supposed.

Again ?  Vex is trying to steal those shoes again ?  Vax could chuckles.  These damn boots are going to cause them to fist fight. . .though Vax would win of course. . .anyways !  He's a thief, he knew karma would one day bit him but damn it came so fast.  Just to scare her, he threw a dagger and it landed close to her but not close enough to cause any type of damage whatsoever.  "Drop the boots stubby."

this was more of a prank than anything, but at the same time she did want the boots. vex thought sneaking in at night was the best way to execute this plan, but apparently her brother wasn’t asleep yet or she wasn’t being as quiet as she thought she was. dang, should have use pass without a trace. she (and all of vox machina) have been out of the game for some time now, and she and percy have 3 kids. maybe she’s just a little rusty at being quiet. she heard the dagger stick in the grain of the wood floor and it probably should have scared her more than it did, but with a young child and two toddlers, she’d gotten used to sounds happening all around her without being super concerned. she turned around and put the boots behind her back. “i don’t know what you’re talking about.” she said with a mischievous grin as she backed closer to the door.

vex had been out and about, but hadn't thought until now to visit the memorial. it was nothing official at this point, just mostly a bunch of flowers and photos of the deceased. she hadn't recognized the other at first due to the lack of antlers, actually walking past them, but when they spoke, her head snapped to them. "keyleth?" tears began welling up in her eyes, "darling, is that you? i guess i should say i'm happy you're alive, all things considered." she motioned to the piles of flowers in front of them.

Keyleth knew that branching out on her own was going to be hard. Thought most people she had come across were kind and understanding, she did run into nasty people here and there. For the most part it had been tough but a fun journey for her. Now, however, everything had been flipped on it's head. People dying, murderers on the loose; everything seemed so chaotic around her. She was doing her best not to be overwhelmed in the panic around her. Trying to keep her daily life on trace while also looking into what was going on as much as she could. Was it the best idea? Absolutely not, but there was something in her that made her feel like she had to help in some way. For now, that was just delivering flowers to memorials. Even though she didn't know these people, they still deserved to be remembered. "I just don't understand how people can be so awful to other people." Keyleth frowned as she laid down the last of the bouquets she had brought. "Hopefully more information is found. For now this is what I can do." She was speaking out loud, though she hadn't realized yet that other people could hear her rambling.

“yeon! how have you been?“ vex approached the other with a smile. it had been a month or so since she’d seen him last and she’d begun telling him about the conclave. he’d also just begun dating or hadn’t been dating very long, vax. she was curious how that was going. “it’s been a minute!“

when vex signed up for this archery event, she hadn’t realized they were going to be randomly set up in pairs. she's competitive as it is, having a partner is going to make it worse. she’ll try to hold herself back, but hopefully her partner is at least good and not a novice.  seeing someone approach her, she stood up, “zagreus, i assume? did you know this was a pairs thing?” she asks, arms crossed.

arriving at the area blocked off for the market, vex began to meander around. nothing in particular really caught her eye, except for the numerous drink vendors scattered about. she was particularly fond of the ones that had mead, as it reminded her of home. the mulled wine wasn’t too bad either though. taking her glass and headed towards one of the heated areas, she sits in an open spot next to someone. “what do you think of all this? quite interesting, no?”
