so while looking for a quick link to explain CBF to a non-aussie friend I stumbled across a site that literally says ceebs is an "abbreviation for “can’t be bothered”" and I am fucking

ceebs (pron. seebs, like seeds, but with a b) is short for CBF, which in itself is short for "Can't Be Fucked" (trans. I absolutely cannot be bothered doing with this shit - either a specific task or in general) and the fact that we truncated a truncation about how utterly disinterested we are in doing things tells you so very much about the Australian species as a whole.

Fam, I am so sad to announce that I think the Instagram glitch, which we discovered quite by accident last March and allowed us to perhaps figure out that these losers had been in their message requests (I'm 95% sure we are right), probably has been wiped out with the newest code update that re-allows multiple message requests to accounts that don't follow you. I WILL CRY. 😭😭😭 DO YOU KNOW HOW LOVELY IT WAS HAVING MY MESSAGE THREADS FLIP TO LOOK LIKE I COULD VIDEO CALL THESE NERDS??? I guess since it's gone, might as well share. Deets here:

If you use IG then you probably know that for the past few years, you could send only one "chat invite" message to an account that didn't follow you, and then you were stuck in limbo forever unable to send more until they accepted. But if the account has story replies on, you could send story replies, and they would all filter into the same thread, which for the other account, would be a "message request" thread. You can't see anything like read receipts or the like on those from your end, so normally you have no idea if they've been in there. They have to go into message requests on purpose to read them and accept the chat invites if they want to, which obviously, they are smart enough not to do.

The glitch, however, did this thing whenever they got into message requests to quietly read (I suspect), the message threads would "flip" on our end over to essentially a fully open Instagram message thread with a mutual, including all the options that a one-sided thread normally eliminated. Like this:

As you can see, I CLEARLY did not actually have video call access with them, but for a little while after the glitch got triggered on their end, Instagram sure thought I did. IG would be like hell yeah, Katy, go for it, video call this weirdo, but if you actually tried, the app would be like hold up I don't think you have that ability. A force refresh would return the thread to the normal state, as would a few hours or so when it auto-refreshed. (The longest I ever had a thread glitched was about 18 hours.)

This glitch has been such a lovely bright spot the past year for me, I'm so sad to lose it. 😭 We did a lot of testing with this, trying to figure out what caused it and which accounts would flip and some never, ever did, but Jack would reliably glitch for me almost every time he posted a story. Sometimes if I caught him still IN the app, it would be REALLY fast, too. (And I would try pretty regularly to "test" what triggered it, as part of our research, and it never flipped until he posted something so we knew he'd logged in.)

I had one trigger at 1 minute after I sent the message once, like I sent, clicked out, went to another app, came back and BAM. I was like OH JESUS YOU'RE STILL IN THE APP. See that camera icon? That's disappearing photos, and you don't get those with non-mutuals lol when this app glitched, it glitched hard. IG WHY WOULD YOU FIX YOUR SHITTY UI SO I LOSE THIS????? R.i.p. now we can send multiple message requests, but god, at what cost? WE HAVE LOST THIS GLORY. Sigh. I'm so sad now hahaha.
