Aurora looked over everyone at the dining room table on that Sunday morning as she picked at her food, unable to really eat much of it at all. She casually sipped her hot tea and felt excitement bubble up inside-as well as some nausea. She spoke in a very nonchalant tone during the morning conversation between her fiancé and kids. “In like the next few months things are gonna change, you cannot judge me for anything. I’m gonna say that now.” Knowing her twins weren’t stupid , Lucy’s expression grew excited as she thought about what her mom was about to say. “I mean in a couple months we find out if I’m having a boy or girl.” She hadn’t even told Ben yet so getting to tell everyone was such a relief and a secret she didn’t have to hide anymore.

Aurora smiled so wide as she leaned in against her fiancé. God it was finally time to call him her fiancé and soon to be husband. Hearing his words made her heart melt, she loved that he took to them so quickly and loved them like his. “How would y’all feel about a younger sibling in the future?” She asked curiously, wondering if that would be something to consider. “I mean in less than two years they will be in college..”

The femme was beyond happy, it just grew more so as her teens came running out from nowhere and hugging the two of them. “We have a wedding to plan!!!” Lu squealed excitedly. Aurora laughed and shook her head a bit as she kept her arm around Ben, looking up to his face. “We finally get our happy ever after.” She spoke softly “I’m forever yours Ben and I wouldn’t have it any other way- besides having your children.” She let out a small laugh.

He couldn’t help the smile on his face. Everything he’d ever wanted was finally his. The timeline wasn’t quite what he’d hoped for when he was younger but having Aurora back in his life made up for it. There was nobody else he could picture himself marrying. A soft laugh escaped him. “As far as I’m concerned, Peter and Lu are my kids.” He might not have been in their life for a long time, but he’d already grown fond of the two kids.

“We’ve had a pretty good run so far just dating, imagine being married..” she smiled a smile that wouldn’t leave her lips. “I love you too, Grainger.” Aurora looked over to the twins who were giddy as hell over the news and came over and hugged their mother and Grainger. “I guess you guys get to help me plan this whole thing.”

Aurora was content in the couch with the male, her legs relaxed overtop of his lap. Hearing the words come out of his mouth made a wide smile come to her face. She nodded fast as lame of as a proposal it was, she knew she wanted to marry him. “Of course!” She leaned over and kissed him gently as the kids shouted excitedly.

“I knew you’d say yes, we could have a wonderful time, spending the rest of our lives together, right?” It really felt like him and her were the end, they could do anything they set their minds to, and getting married only helped with that. “I love you Aurora.”

“You were so excited going on and on about them.” The female spoke while slinging her legs across the lap of her best friend. “Well we can hangout more that’s no problem but Harp, what is it that’s not letting things work out with anyone?” She asked curiously, looking to the woman. “Is it that you had feelings for someone before and they hurt you? Or you have feelings for someone you can’t have?”

“The date was fine but I don’t think I’m going to be seeing them again,” Harper said as she placed a marker in her book and turned to look at them. “I just don’t have the time for that. I mean I work so much and I have to try to balance all other life necessities.” She gestured around. “I mean there’s exercising and decompressing and when I do have free time, all I want to do is spend time with you! I just need to stop being set up and it’ll reduce a lot of my stress. And I don’t want to have to explain my whole life history to strangers who are rude and nosy.”

As she walked closer she saw how beautiful the set up was in the gym, it reminded her of their prom mixed with her Pinterest board. Watching as the male dropped down on one knee she couldn’t help the smile on her face. Aurora smoothed her dress and looked to the man declaring his love for her on one knee with a ring in hand. “Of course I will!” She leaned down, cupping his face and kissing his lips. “I’ve waited so long to hear you ask me that, I love you so much.” She pecked his lips again before hearing the familiar yelling from her kids, laughing at their reaction.

Benjamin stood up after she kissed him, taking a moment to slide the ring onto her finger before pulling her in for another kiss. “I love you, too,” he grinned as he pulled away. “You wanna get married tomorrow?” He asked teasingly. If she wanted to elope, he’d be all for it but Aurora deserved the wedding of her dreams and he wanted to do things right for her, especially since it’d been so long.

The teens in the backseat and front seat were beaming with excitement as they ran into the building and went into the gym, seeing how nervous Ben was. “You got this! She’s coming!” Lucy hugged Ben and straightened his tie before hiding and filming from the cameras they had set up. Aurora walked through the school and into the gym, eyes lighting up when she saw Ben but stayed as she saw how beautiful the gym was decorated. “Hey you,” she spoke walking over to the man of her dreams.

Aurora had been blessed with a couple of days off from the hospital and was able to sleep in, not having any idea her kids had left and came back before she even woke up. Looking to the time she got herself up and saw a note on her nightstand from the kids ‘go shower and wear the outfit that’s in the bathroom for you. Meet us downstairs when you’re done. Xoxo Lu & Pete’ the femme shook her head and got herself a hot shower, changed clothes and did her hair and makeup before going down to the living room where Lucy held an envelope out to her mother. “What on earth did you two do now?” She laughed while reading the note-well clue before she gave them a side eye and left, going from place to place around town until she was parked at the high school.

Ben was standing in the gym where everything had restarted for them. If someone had told him a year ago that he would be standing here right now getting ready to propose to his high school sweetheart after all this time, Ben would have laughed. It seemed like a dream. He’d received a text that she was on her way to the school and his nerves grew as he paced back and forth, eyes darting up to the door occasionally as he waited for her to enter.

His heart was hammering in his chest. Surely, she wouldn’t say no, right? A moment of doubt entered his mind but he pushed it away. The kids wouldn’t have encouraged this if she didn’t want to marry him, right? “I won’t argue with that,” Ben responded to Peter, giving a soft chuckle. He was grateful for his soon to be step-children. It didn’t matter that they weren’t really his children, Ben had grown fond of them in the short time he’d been reunited with Aurora. He’d spent so long by himself and he was about to take on a family. That might intimidate some men, but he was ready for the challenge.

“Oh, kids will be kids, right?” Grainger gave back a cheeky grin, before adding a slight nod. “You know…I have been thinking about it for quite some time, and if not now, when, you know? It might just be time to get hitched. What do you say about it Aurora? I’d absolutely love to make you my wife.”
