It was actually Mickey who hired his cousin and friends to rob them, because he figured it would make Ian relent on the whole no real gun thing. This explains why he, a highly experienced criminal, was so dismissive of the car that was obviously following them, and why cousin Lou ended up taking just enough money that it was a bother but didn't actually jeopardise Ian and Mickey's operation. (I mean, c'mon – does pity and kindheartedness seem like a typical Milkovich trait to you?)

Anyway, it actually worked a treat and they even got an ambulance out of it, so – great work, Mickey? I mean, bad, bad form, scamming your husband like that, but great work all the same.
