zelda's role is to take up the powers of hylia. zelda has always been a girl, a woman. of course all of them would be. hylia is a goddess. the first zelda was hylia's personal vessel.

botw zelda [ going to call him zel here on out in this post for clarity lol ] would have to come to terms with how his feelings don't align with his self-perceived role. at first, he thinks his yearning to be a boy is more to do with hating his responsibilities. i think his relationship with both his gender and his role in destiny is an incredible complicated one because of all of this.

meeting link, the other destined one, probably really fucks him up more. link being a trans boy himself, on a surface level, one might think would bring zel relief; someone like him, so close to him. but it does the opposite. link has always been a boy. this link, being assigned female at birth, is a boy as well. to zel, this reaffirms his thoughts that destiny has locked their genders into place.

in general, i don't think transphobia is a huge thing in the loz universe. it's like, a very niche kind of bigotry thankfully. it's MY childhood fantasy games and i get to mostly poof it out. i think the big exception to this would be those associated with destiny, prophecies, and of course, the reincarnation cycle.

zel is pressured to not only be a good daughter and princess, but to take on the powers that should be blessed to him by the goddess herself. everything just drives him further into hating everything, including link early on.

a big part of zel being able to actually unlock his powers would be both what i think happens in game [ desperation to protect ] as well as acceptance of himself. zel's inner turmoil over his own identity, where his duty as holder of the triforce of wisdom starts and right to be himself ends.

of course, there's no actual reason for the holder of wisdom to be a woman; as there is none for the holder of courage or power to be a man. it just so happens that it tends to be like that.

i think a retelling like this could add such a strong layer onto zel's character arc. it's so good. augh. thank yuo i hope any of this is somewhat coherent. they kiss in the end

btw i think generally trans masc zeldas go for the name sheik [ thank you OOT sheik you walked so the other tran masc zeldas could run ] but botw zelda specifically would take the scientific name of like, a small critter or plant, and alter it so it sounds kind of like a hylian name. OR just go by 'zel'. or both ! idk.

Been thinking about the prompt with Yuuji and 4 Sukunas a lot lately, mainly about what versions of Sukuna it'd be and trying to figure out a plot because that prompt had been living in a white void for me so far. So here's what I got :3

First of Yuuji: post canon ofc, more or less the same as we know except instead of occasionally looking at his missing fingers with some melancholy, he has his Blobkuna he carries with him everywhere, acting maybe a tad overprotective of him but still fairly normal [by Yuuji's standard] apart from that

Blobkuna: very fond of his brat, does wish he had more freedom but he isn't going to complain either. Him and Yuuji are basically always together, eating, sleeping, going to missions etc.. It took a while for Yuuji's friends to get used to that because they're weirdly codependent

Yuujikuna: I'd say, post Shibuya-early Culling Games, a time where his satisfaction from his fights was starting to run out and he was growing frustrated with his captivity again, although he knew he just had to be patient and strike at the right time. He'd be mostly confused by this situation but also the happiest to have regained a body of his own and the one that has the highest risk of just running off and cause chaos on purpose, just to stretch his limbs a bit

Megukuna: I'd say he's from somewhere near the end of the training month, maybe 3-5 day before the 24th. This one is used to his freedom, at the top of his form and itching to fight. Being thrown in the future is annoying because he's already killed people that had the potential to entertain him although he really wants to know what the brat's been up to and who defeated him. So, openly curious, will try to start fights

These 2 are definitely disgusted by what Yuuji and Blobkuna have going on (although I'm not very confidant in my characterization for them)

Now onto True Form Sukuna, first things first I'm going with the post-271 version because I can't think of a reason an unrestrained Sukuna from the Heian era would stick around, in my mind he's running off the second he understands he's in the future

So, this Sukuna who chose to do one last act of kindness and did not curse Yuuji is brought back to life (already annoyed he doesn't get to walk into the void with Uraume) and sees the remnants of himself burdening being taken care of by Yuuji. He's happy to see Yuuji alive and smiling, but he was gone and that version of him shouldn't exist in the first place, and when he asks to take the Blob to have a one to one talk, Yuuji gets very defensive and refuses to let go. Otherwise he's the chillest here and enjoys watching Yuuji trying to wrangle with his other selves

I do see Yuuji trying to discreetly use his technique on them and coming to the terrifying realization that they all inhabit their own bodies and his soul cleave will be nearly useless if he actually has to fight them

[The Sukuna that had his original body quickly grabbed his wrist in one giant hand and held it up uncomfortably. Shit, Yuuji thought, I've been caught.

"What is it Yuuji~? Looking for the edge of my soul?" he flashed a toothy grin towards the younger man who started panicking, Sukuna wasn't using a vessel like he had hoped but had his own body, it made things more difficult for him is things got violent.

"That little trick won't work on either of us, although..." he lowered the hand holding Yuuji's without letting go, his gaze softening when he spoke the next words, "I'd love to see how much you've improved."]

(yes I believe true form would make the other 2 eat dog food. it's a chinese slang look it up)

Now for the plot, the part where I was struggling. If I was sure I'd be writing it I would've kept it to myself but I know I won't so here we go:

Yuuji has 4 versions of Sukuna to deal with that are sticking to him for plot reasons, and it's a lot. A lot of pain, a lot of grief, a lot of regrets and also, a bit of joy. Obviously this isn't normal and they have to be sent back to wherever they came from but Yuuji wants to take the time to reconnect with them a bit, show them that things could be different once they go back.

note: Yuuji's feeling towards them isn't something I've fully grasped yet but maybe his enthusiasm to show them love and attention might be in his smile but not his eyes and it makes a disturbing painting that leaves the Sukunas somewhat disturbed.

True Form would see right through it tho, he's been there after all. But the fact that a piece of himself stayed behind is upsetting to him so he eventually manages to separate Yuuji and Blobkuna to study it

And as it turns out, this isn't one of them at all. It's a curse Yuuji created without realizing because he didn't want to grief someone else. He has his grandpa and Junpei and Nanami and Choso and his brothers and his teacher and so many people he couldn't save and he couldn't add Sukuna to the list. Not yet. Not so soon. And that how Blobkuna was born, in the ashes of Sukuna's residues and out of a love he wasn't ready to let go. (it's similar to what Yuta did)

Yuuji kinda goes through it for a bit after learning that. He doesn't want to let go again ofc but he's had some time by then. Making his peace with all of them helped. It's not any easier but he has to respect Sukuna's final wish of moving on. (to Blobkuna it's kind of like learning you've never existed. they both take it poorly)

(I do see True Form sighing and pulling Yuuji in for a hug, then glaring at the others until they hug him too. Group hug for Yuuji, he needs it :'))

So at the end of the day, Yuuji had one, then four, then no Sukuna as they all leave. True Form tells him that they will meet again in his next life and Yuuji smiles and nods. It's a promise.

they're from the anime/manga jujutsu kaisen, and they are:

gojo satoru. love of my fucking life. my fucking everything my boy my man, i am so so in LOVE with this man i cant even begin to tell u. he consumes my every waking thought, my life is dedicated to seeing him get fucked. (he's the guy in my header humping his all into the other's arm)

and (ryoumen) sukuna. beautiful sexy evil man.

so in this world, we have jujutsu sorcerers, who are people with special powers that they use to defeat/exorcise curses, which are basically evil spirits born of negative human emotions

gojo is the strongest jujutsu sorcerer alive. he is insanely strong, not a single person can go against him. his powers make it so that u literally physically cannot touch him. he controls "infinity" and can warp space, and he also has pretty special eyes that let him perceive things at a much deeper level than a regular person. those two things combined make him quite literally untouchable. and insanely powerful.

as for sukuna, he used to be a human who lived thousands of years ago, who used to be the strongest sorcerer of his time, and is considered to be the strongest sorcerer in history. he is the King of Curses, no one could ever defeat him, or destroy his soul, which he divided into his 20 preserved fingers so it would survive through time, even after dying.

so itadori yuuji

this lil baby boy (literally the babiest sweetest boy to exist btw) (he's actually the main character haha)

due to some stuff, he ends up eating one of sukuna's mummified fingers and sukuna reincarnates inside him. yuuji becomes a vessel for sukuna, who lives inside yuuji's mind now and sometimes takes over his body (reason why they look the same)

and now, yuuji is sentenced to be executed bc he holds the most evil sorcerer in history inside him, but gojo goes nope! wait a minute, let's not do that. and manages to convince the people in charge to postpone yuuji's execution, saying that they'll get yuuji to find and eat all of sukuna's fingers and then execute him, getting rid of sukuna all in one go.

ok so that's the context (that's actually what the anime's about haha), but as to gojo and sukuna.

THEY ARE IN LOVE

well, they're there. sdkkhfkjdkfdf

ok no, so like they do their things right. gojo is a teacher (tho we never actually see him do any teaching lmao) and sukuna lives inside yuuji and causes trouble sometimes. they don't really ever interact in the story (they literally meet and have a lil confrontation, decide to kill each other and never talk again djshjfdasdadfd) (until they actually have their Fight, more on that later)

BUT!!!!!!!! they may not interact, but they are completely tied together narratively.

as u can see, they're both the strongest from their respective times, so they have a lot of links when it comes to their characters themselves and what they are referred to in the story. specifically that, in being the strongest, they exist in a plane above everyone else, literally untouchable.

now, in the story, this position of strongest is coupled with solitude, being the strongest meaning u're alone and no one else understands you bc of this

and SO they have their fight. bc plot reasons right. this is obv what it was all gonna lead to. fight of the two strongest.

and the fight, consequently, revolves around that idea of solitude, and understanding each other.

which like. ok. yeah we saw that coming. ofc. no big deal.

EXCEPT, to make reference to their relationship and that idea of understanding each other, the term that is used is, and i kid u not, love.

there's a very specific phrase that is used multiple times between them. which is actually used originally with a character who shows romantic feelings towards sukuna.

she challenges sukuna to a fight and sukuna promises to marry her if she wins. her goal in this fight is to share in sukuna's solitude and show him love (read R→L)

but she says this to sukuna and this. this is his reaction.

SUKUNA KNOWS LOVE ALREADY

to which she gets super pissed bc that's not!!! love!!!!!!!

sukuna defeats/kills her. and u know when the next time that exact fucking phrase is used? when sukuna and gojo finally meet again and set up the date to have their Fight, where sukuna remembers her words

which tells us that.

thinking about gojo when she said that.

BUT IT DOESN'T STOP THERE. this phrase is then repeated. multiple times.

this was in their first meeting where they fought (for quite literally 10 seconds)

next day sukuna goes "hey im gonna kill u first <3" and gojo just goes "teehee omg really? *hair twirl* <3"

they also decide to have their final battle on dec 24 which is like a super romantic date in japan (explicitly said so by another character)

and their FIGHT. it is LITERALLY just them flirting and touching each other

LOOK AT THIS SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i fucking lost it. i still haven't recovered. that is the hottest thing i've ever seen in my life. gojo wants that dick so fucking bad

not to mention thigh grabs and hand touchies

and the entirety of the fight is just them having fun 😭😭 they're supposed "enemies" on opposite sides and the fate of the world is at stake here, but they actually don't give a fuck about that.

they're literally smiling and having a great fucking time. this fight for them is just play. their fight is just for them to have fun as the strongest and to connect with each other. they're enemies but they don't hate each other or anything, they only search for that sense of fulfillment in each other OTL

AND ABOUT THAT, oh my GOD

sukuna wins. he defeats gojo. and at the end, this. is what sukuna says to gojo at the end of the fight:

FUCKING. I'LL NEVER FORGET YOU. SCREAAAAM THAT'S ROMANCEEEEEE.

and the soft smile? the fucking petals falling all over them? oh GOD they're trying to kill me

but that's on sukuna's side, what about for gojo? well

Now, whoever you are how did you that i was thinking of talking about my ship opinions soon?? mind wizard

SO, here’s the thing : when it comes to ships in genera it takes a lot for me to actually have OTPs and stuff and this is especially true in ddlc for me. For me shipping is more of a “sure, i could get behind this” sort of thing, except if once in a blue moon i find that one ship that alters my brain chemistry but believe it or not that has not really happened to me with any of the ddlc ships. It has happened with the game as a whole, but not really with the ships. The only one that has come close i’d say is sayonika but that’s more bc they happen to be the characters that i think about the most

That being said, i’d say i ship every ship in the game, simply because i could honestly see all of them working out in one way or another. Sure, they’re are some i like more than others but generally all of them work. And yes, this includes the Mc ships even though i like them less bc the side stories blew it out of the park with the chemistry between the girls

Speaking of the side stories, they are the sole reason i got into the shipping side of the fandom lol. The base game, as influential as it was for me, never really ignited any shipping sparks ig. I actually could not care less for the shipping before the side stories, bc most of it felt kind of trope-y ironically enough. Like, Natsuri was the big one, which was only popular bc of the whole opposite’s attract thing (not that there’s anything wrong with that ofc, it just never really resonated with me). Sayonika was a victim of what i like to call the “leftovers syndrome” where two characters are shipped bc they are the only ones left to be shipped with.

And Mc.. well let’s talk about that actually. Mc x Yuri is well… how do i put this. They have absolutely nothing in common. I don’t necessarily hate this ship however, if i see it done right i can like it. Mc x Natsuki was alright, the banter was fun, they actually have things they can talk about, it’s overall a nice ship. I will say i prefer them as close friends, but if i was to see media (fan art, fics, mods etc) where it’s done right, i can appreciate it. Mc x Sayori is also a ship i can enjoy from time to time, probably the most out of any Mc ship. Again, i do prefer talking about their friendship more though but now that i’m writing this down i realise i’m just a slut for male/female friendships. Mc x Monika truly depends on what context the characters are given. Are we talking about non-sentient Monika x Mc? Bc that can be pretty fun. If we are talking about sentient Monika x Mc, i see a very interesting dynamic (not a particularly good one) where Monika is basically using Mc as a vessel for the player in her desperation. Can Mc feel this dynamic? Does he understand in some way that he’s the second choice, even if he doesn’t know the truth about their world? How does it affect him? Its fun to ponder about this ig, but it doesn’t really make for a healthy relationship

Then the side stories came out, where the characters evolved from their one-dimensional tropes into actual personalities with enticing dynamics between them and i was immediately sold. That being said, i still don’t really have an OTP per say, bc as stated before all of them could work out. Which is definitely bc of how we get to see each of them interact individually in each side story. In every side story, we see each character interact with the other and learn how to grow as individuals because of it. I could see each pairing happening individually, i could see them being a poly couple, maybe even a qpr, or just a very close friend group too! There is a lot of love between the characters, whether that is romantic, platonic or something in between im not 100% certain on, but the love is definitely there.

Anyway, you also asked what my favourite ship would be, and i’ll probably say Sayonika since most of the media I consume tends to be with them

gabriel has smtn fairly close to the same biology/internal systems that a normal person would have, except that its more mechanical (i'm not too sure that makes sense ,,)

it's immune to (most) disease, has an infinitely slower metabolism (hence the need to not eat too much, since it takes so long to fully break down.. that + a general disliking for how it feels to eat/drink)

his bones are the same as a persons, although, a bit more ?? flexible?? if that makes any sense ??

theyre more flexible/weaker so he can change his body shape, height, facial structure, etc,,,

(sorta following what i said about his body running a bit more mechanically ↓ )

gabriel ONLY has vital organs (excluding his stomach, but tbf, it's small enough to the point where it can barely eat a sandwich)- he didn't see the others as "fit" so, as a result, got rid of any non-vital organs (spleen, appendix, reproductive organs, etc)

he does have a heartbeat, but it's much closer to artificial in order to appear more alive than he is if that makes any sense ??

gabriel wouldn't die entirely if his heart stopped beating (as i said, it's more artificial.. it's already barely beating as is) but he WOULD have to take a day or two to get his body up nd running again

he still does need to eat/drink occasionally, but doesn't most of the time if he has the choice not to (this doesn't have a specific reason other than his preference)

i feel some of this doesn't make too much sense biology wise but i do NOT know how to elaborate further for gabriel specifically ,, im going off of the fact that hes lucifer nd wtv, so rather than him needing a fully functioning body, he made/chose this one to tinker with until it looked decent enough for him (i.e.: removing the organs because he didn't believe he would need them)

ALTERNATES RAFH

they don't have blood,, or at least, don't bleed as easily as humans do; they CAN be harmed, although it takes a lot to do so (i.e.: setting an alternate on fire would probably do a little bit of damage, but not to a fatal point)

their skin has a really rubbery consistency, making it hard to pierce !!

they have blood vessels, veins, wtv, but they walls around them are a lot thicker (like a giraffe ^_^)

they don't have any bones (no i don't know how this would make sense movement or structure wise, but they just,, don't,, if they did, then it'd only be the spine, skull, scapula, sternum, maybe pelvis??) so that they can take whatever shape/form they like, allowing them to turn into people, animals, blobs (???) whenever they wish

they don't necessarily have organs? mainly to prevent problems when changing form/because gabriel imo didn't believe it to be efficient nor necessary + they're still artificial.. they're not real people, nor entirely alive

they eat, but only for the pleasure of eating ! it doesn't serve a purpose whatsoever

alternates are virtually just mass,, something to take up space- they don't have much of a sentience, either; they were made for one purpose (inflict MAD onto people) and follow that said purpose

there are gonna ofc be some cases where they gain sentience, occasionally morality, except extremely rare (simple defect that gabriel ignored/assumed wouldn't happen)

2. My music taste is almost the polar opposite of what it was a decade ago, with the exception of about 10 core artists. I used to be very into electropop + edm and your sort of standard tumblr alternative ie mother mother and ofc tøp and halsey. Had a very brief pop punk phase, then a little soft indie mitski/phoebe bridgers/the national type phase which I still v much enjoy sometimes. Then I got really into kate bush/prog- + art-pop in 2020, and I don't remember the exact logistics but that pipelined me into being goth (I actually really wanted to be goth when I was in middle school but respected that it was a music scene, and I thought bauhaus sounded scary because I was listening exclusively to like, kesha and marina back then. So I was like aughh guess I can't dress goth #sad. Bauhaus is now one of my favorite bands and other than wearing a lot of black I do not dress "goth" at all bc I'm lazy lmao). I'm mostly into ethereal wave w/ a smattering of other subgenres. I also listen to Quite a bit of metal, drone, shoegaze, noise, industrial, ambient, etc. Love some freaky art pop sometimes. And the beatles obviously

my oc, cricin, is an elf lady that spent her entire life in a tower, raised and supervised by an animated skeleton she thinks of as her mother. she is lowkey inspired by rapunzel except combined with my never ending love for necromancy

anyway, the tower belongs to a Very Very Very old master necromancer and great mage in general. she is obsessed with power AND beauty, so she keeps herself alive, beautiful and powerful by taking over bodies of young elven ladies. so, the tower pretends to be a small school, and she kidnaps infant elven ladies to raise them into perfect vessels. they all get a magic circle engraved in their body that ensures no matter how they look like, they will grow up looking exactly like the necromancer lady. but! in her original first life before she got committed to black magic and stuff, she was a tallman, not an elf. so thats why all her vessels have black hair even though its not an elf thing. its the magic!!!!!

(lady necromancer decided to use elves for her body farm since the vessels are long lived so she doesnt have to keep an eye on too many at a time, lol)

anyway, cricin is one of the vessels and she finds out about the whole plot at one point and decides to get help so someone saves all the girls and defeats the necromancer. to do so, she uses some kind of astral projection/soul splitting magic that causes her to be able to leave the tower and venture into the world as like... a ghost but with more substance and magic?

theres a lot of more plot because ive had many no mithrun Thursdays to contemplate, but the tl dr is that she forms a party with a couple of canon dunmeshi charas to conquer the tower and defeat the evil lord questline go on and learn about people and the world shes never heard of before. after everything is settled and cricin has both her body and freedom, she decides to travel some to experience the world with her own senses, and managed to convince mithrun to go with her. cue the romance storyline. happily ever after or something, i believe in them

wait, Mara & Eris destroyed a Pyramid?

Maybe! Sort of!

I have a long ass post with several other connecting posts because I've been obsessed with this for a long time, but all of that is from before WQ released. Initially, I speculated that the Pyramid in question would be the Pyramid in the throne world (because it's conveniently damaged in the middle), and we had nothing but vague images of it being there. But outside the speculation which turned out wrong/unconnected, the rest of the post explains everything from the Witch Queen Collector's Edition and how it relates to Sjur in great detail.

In short, back in the Forsaken year, there was a lore tab in which Fenchurch has a vision of Mara and Eris confronting/damaging an unknown vessel. It was hard to say at the time, but when I read this post-Shadowkeep, it was really obvious that it was a Pyramid ship so that gave me fuel to connect that vision with a dream Sjur Eido had, also released in the Forsaken year in which she saw Mara and another woman destroying a "great black triangle."

At the time I believed that this was talking about some future event, something that will happen in a future season or expansion. However, WQ CE had a multi-page chapter dedicated solely to clarifying this in which Fenchurch sends a report to tell Ikora that he has spoken to Eris about his vision and that Eris confirmed this event has already happened. As a matter of fact, he only had a vision because Eris sent a message documenting this event, embedded in a shard of the Pyramid, for it to be found by someone in case she dies.

At some point after Forsaken, but before Shadowkeep, Mara and Eris (with the help of Elsie, the Nine, Rasputin and even Failsafe) discovered an early arrival of a single Pyramid ship to the edge of the system. They went there to meet it, in the orbit of the dwarf planet Eris. At some point, Mara went into orbit of the Pyramid and possibly entered it; this is unclear. Eris could not tell exactly what happened, except that Mara came in contact with the vessel and then died. Eris went to pick Mara up from her throne world and then the duo landed on the dwarf planet where they found a lot of debris, apparently from the Pyramid ship. Eris was wounded so Mara helped with the wounds. Eris also picked up one of the debris pieces and embedded a message to it, then sent the fragment to the Moon with her Hive shenanigans. The fragment was eventually picked up by Fenchurch.

We don't know exactly what the debris was and what Mara did with the Pyramid, but the description of the fragment was matching Pyramid material and I used that to identify it as Pyramid material, before WQ CE. So the debris on the dwarf planet should be Pyramid debris. It's however unclear if Mara did damage that caused that debris or not. On the other hand, both the vision from Fenchurch and Sjur's dream (a little embellished, as dreams tend to be) are describing the same event. So the event during which Sjur is "close to figuring her way out" has already happened. Whether Mara destroyed (or damaged) a Pyramid or not.

Which is why I believe that the conditions for her return have already been fulfilled. Obviously, being "close" to finding her way out is relative; "close" could've meant weeks or it could mean years. We don't know where Sjur is and how exactly she died, and she described it as being trapped in a maze.

It could also be that there will be another instance of Mara and Eris attacking a Pyramid ship in the future (Sjur's dream also mentions Crow being present). In that case, the conditions for her return have not happened yet. But until we see something of the sort happening, this is the best match for Sjur's dream and confirmed as real, via Fenchurch, meaning that her dream was not just nonsense.

Honestly, if anything like Mara, Eris and possibly Crow destroying a Pyramid might happen, we only have Season of the Wish left for that to occur so it's now or never (ofc depending on what happens to the Pyramid ships post TFS). If Sjur's dream is not the event described above, then it would have to happen next season, so either way Sjur-Eido-Returns believers are awake and ready. I will definitely understand if it doesn't happen and everyone should be ready for it not to happen, but we have a chance now so we're eagerly waiting to see if something happens.

Comic Sigyn was hurt by Loki as his abused wife then hurt again when she was brought back for that one shot where he called upon his friends to punch her into unsconsciousness (even tho she posed him no threat as she lacks magic or combat skills) and any Sigyn fan who actually cares about her as a character and not a self insert vessel would want her 9549 miles away from Loki since everytime they're near each other he finds a way to hurt her. But they don't, because they project onto her to live their fantasies of kissing Loki. They claim the writers just need to write her personality and dynamic with Loki differently, but if you have to change everything canon about a character to make it work it's because they don't actually ship canon Sigyn with Loki, they ship their self insert oc who happens to have the same name.

I recall seeing her use magic to help Loki on the few Simonson issues I have read. To be fair, Ikol is not the Loki she married. The exes all want revenge on someone who's no longer here (with the exception of a handful like Leah..). And yeah, they aren't good for each other and she's definitely a self-insert.

I have only ever read ONE good Loki/Sigyn fic that I enjoy where their relationship is the focus because Sygin actually has a personality and Loki was allowed to be awful in a way that was interesting rather than "evil incarnate". It reminded me a bit of "The Cruel Prince" by Holly Black. I am really not a fan of x Reader, x OFC, or x Sygin stories for the most part. I will warn it tends to bash Sif and the W3. So if you love those characters, I might avoid it.

Yeah. I have said I would only be fine with her coming back if their relationship and dynamic is retconned and rewritten entirely. I would argue that Sigyn has no personality and that's why she is the self-insert of choice...

I also don't appreciate the guilt-tripping some Marvel!Sygin stans do to try to make us care about some prop of a female character. Of course I would erase her if it benefits Loki's character and means I don't have to see her used as a prop to show how far Loki's evil goes. Loki's actually interesting and her being used as a prop didn't add anything interesting to his storyline and it was quite annoying. Of course we all have more investment in Loki as a character than Table # 5. We've already seen Loki being awful in more interesting ways. Plus, I feel he should get that specific relationship retconned/erased because comics always get retconned and the way most of the comics handled Loki annoys me ("evil from birth" narratives while everyone else is obnoxiously perfect are the bane of my existence). I am glad he's allowed to be gray rather than pure evil now and that's he's gotten some things retconned to avoid "evil from birth".

I present my OC angst final boss: survivor!James

Lore below ofc:

So, in the multiverse James has had it rough. Obviously, when I only have like two (now three!) versions of his story where he survives working at aperture science. The basic premise for survivor!James is that he miraculously survives everything that kills him in every other universe.

-when testing the T4 machine he does nick a major vessel, but he gets Science’d back to health just fine!

-for the MEDDOS uploading, everything is the same there except his body actually survives the process. still, he did kinda get electrocuted so they decide that it’s too risky to test with Cave and it’s still a failed experiment. James goes on to work on GLaDOS.

-as for James, now he has some mobility issues and for entirely “makes the design cooler” reasons he got hexagon irises now

-he begins to become interested in the long term relaxation tests. In his free time, he works on a compact machine to replicate the effects of stasis.

-aaand mandatory employee testing gets him again! An ill timed muscle spasm causes him to land on one knee and one foot. He wasn’t even a part of the control group this time, at least the long fall boots partially helped his fall.

-he gets put in stasis, yk how it goes, and he wakes up literally the day before BYDTWD. He carries on, business as normal until GLaDOS warms up the neurotoxin emitters

-but what are the odds that, as a result of his pet project, he just happened to have a respirator specifically designed to handle Aperture Science Grade Questionable Chemical Substances? He pockets the prototype and books it to the lesser followed old exit paths.

-he finds Doug, because they’re doomed yaoi in every universe, and story proceeds as normal.

-when James gets hit by a turret, he decides now is a good a time as any to test his prototype, so he does

-and it works well enough. His body is effectively frozen in time: it won’t heal or recover but he won’t die. They make it back up to the surface.

-however. Deep in the rapidly decaying Aperture Science facilities without any management, some electricity is misdirected towards the old extradimensional portal, which malfunctions.

-so it like. Eats their entire universe. It implodes, if you will. Not instantly of course, but impossible to outrun. There are no survivors.

-except for James, the only living human to have gone through that portal not just once, but dozens of times. After an indeterminate amount of time, he finds himself in what he can only recognize as an alternate aperture science…

-now, he’s doomed to wander endless dimensions with no way home forever.

So yeah! Survival at what cost. I really had fun with this concept, if you could tell. Now a few more tidbits about James himself for this au:

-he’s held together by threads, mentally and physically. I like to think he’s hopeful, barely, that if he managed to end up somewhere else then maybe his Doug did too (who’s gonna tell him?)

-whenever he finds himself in a new universe he tries to find himself, to prevent these alternate James from his fate (it never works)

-the worst ones for him would be when he finds that universe’s James is already gone

-would be really protective over his lab coat. The extradimensional scientists would be happy to give him a fresh one with fewer bulletholes, but s!James would feel horrible to let the last part of his Doug go

#766: i'm going to attempt to explain how skeletal muscles work in excruciating detail so this may take me a few days - bear with. i'll start with the "basics" today. your muscles are made up of lots of tiny fibres. these are bundled up into little cable-like packages called fascicles and wrapped up in a comfy perimysium layer, with a little blood vessel. confusingly, the fascicles come in bundles of themselves, wrapped up in epimysium. the fibres are really narrow and actually quite long, up to 10cm, and are arguably not quite cells. they have all the normal things cells have, except loads of them, especially things like mitochondria. and for some reason (well actually it's so they can produce the large number of enzymes and proteins required) there are thousands of nuclei in a single fibre, which makes them a multinucleated cell because the nuclei share cytoplasm. the mechanism to reach so many nuclei is a whole other story - myogenesis. a single muscle in the average male bicep contains about 250 thousand fibres, each with about 3000 myonuclei when mature. each fibre is composed of a few dozen myofibrils (you know when you cut open a cable and there are dozens of tiny wires inside - it's a bit like that) bundled up in a special type of cell membrane called a sarcolemma. the sarcolemma is also wrapped in a very thin endomysium layer.

so to summarise, your muscles are made of little packages attached to bones via tendons and wrapped in epimysium. these are made of little packages (fascicles) wrapped in perimysium. these are made of little packages (fibres) wrapped in endomysium and sarcolemma. these are made up of little units (myofibrils). it's like inception! all this only applies to skeletal muscles, remember. i did say that right?
