The truth was that Jaskier was the result of a child's surprise. Surprisingly, his grateful parents discovered that the witcher who claimed him never returned to collect.
Years later, at Kaer Morhen, everyone is shocked to learn that it was Lambert—drunk at the time—who had invoked the law of surprise.
Now, Lambert is taken quite seriously as Jaskier’s "Papa," and he’s constantly angry with Geralt. His words are clear: "You’re no good for my child," or "Never speak to me or my son again."
No matter how many times Jaskier insists that Lambert isn’t his father, it makes no difference.

Do you think Syverson would like it if his girlfriend gets a tattoo of his name on her wrist?
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: Logan is not Sy’s real name (he doesn’t have one in the film). I came up with this name for him in Lines in the Sand. However, it’s not the same Sy from that story, nor from Feral Collision. :)
Pure cotton candy fluff.
Please comment and reblog 🖤

“Now that’s jinxing it, darlin’!” The Captain huffed, displeased at the fresh marking that decorated his girl’s wrist.
A deep frown crested his tanned brow as he inspected it closely, tilting her wrist back and forth.
‘Logan’ it read in big black accented letters. It wasn’t even a good tattoo to begin with. Trashy style, like the one his friends at the unit had. Did she get it at some walk-in studio at the train station? Knowing the reckless imp she is, he wouldn’t be surprised.
“I thought you’d like it…” she answered sheepishly, her voice somewhat vulnerable.
Sy lifted his gaze to meet hers, his big blue eyes softening as he noticed the concern and guilt sufracing her face. Carefully, he cradled her hand between his labour-coarse palms and drew it to his chest.
“Oh, darlin’, don't get me wrong. I love it that you did it for me, but…”
“But?”
“You know what they say about couples who get one another’s names inked, right? They end up breaking up and then you are left with that mistake haunting you for the rest of your life. I don’t want that. I don’t want us ever breaking up…” Sy explained, his voice carrying gently as he took her little palm and brought it to his lips. He kissed each one of her fingers, the bristle of his beard grazing her skin and making her chuckle.
“Is that a wedding proposal?” she jested.
Sy's heart jumped to his throat. For a moment there he wondered if she knew about the ring hidden in his old duffle bag. Looking at her pretty little face, staring at him with fervent anticipation, he considered asking her now, in the heat of the moment. But his impish little love deserved more than a mid-noon proposal.
“Now don’t push it, missy,” he warned playfully and booped her nose. “Now let’s get that tattoo taken care of and put some ointment on it”

As queen, Elizabeth retained her own minstrels quite separate from those of Henry VII—and rewarded them generously. Her own children played the lute, vir- ginal, clavichord, and organ, while she herself played the clavichord (and perhaps other instruments). Her son Henry VIII became renowned for his singing, dancing, and composing.

A curse lets Geralt hear Jaskier’s thoughts, and at first, he assumes it won’t make much difference—Jaskier talks enough as it is.
But quickly, Geralt realizes he was wrong. It's not the chatter that surprises him—it's the silence. All the things Jaskier doesn’t say.
He hears the constant calculations: when to shut up and just smile, how to read a room fast enough to stay safe, how to soften himself before someone else can hurt him. He hears the quiet pain behind the charm, the sharp awareness beneath the playfulness.
What stuns Geralt most is how often Jaskier chooses to play the fool—the pretty, harmless bard—because it’s safer that way.

Young dragons are easily distracted by shiny objects—a trait most outgrow with age. Still, it's a handy trick for older dragons to keep their young ones occupied with a bit of gold, if only to keep them from wandering off.
Jaskier, for a dragon, is still quite young. So when they’re up on the mountain, Borch quickly picks up on their shared nature. There’s a kinship there—dragon recognizing dragon. Though, to his amusement, Borch is surprised the witchers haven’t figured it out yet.
Geralt, for his part, remains oblivious. He has no idea why Borch keeps gifting Jaskier bits of glittering jewelry. But if it keeps the bard quiet and close by, he’s not about to question it.

Each winter, when Geralt returns to Kaer Morhen, he brings with him an entirely new and utterly random skill set. The only logical explanation? Jaskier wanted to learn it, and somehow, Geralt got dragged into mastering it.
For instance:
- Geralt is now an expert potter—because Jaskier decided their campsite needed better plates.
- He can also bind books, a skill acquired when Jaskier insisted on self-publishing his poetry.
- Roach? Now a gold medalist in dressage, thanks to Jaskier’s petty feud with his cousin.
And that’s just the beginning. At this point, Geralt is seriously considering bringing Jaskier to Kaer Morhen—maybe it’s time the bard picked up a few new skills of his own.

After the fall of Cintra, it is Jaskier who finds Ciri. For a time, they live peacefully together in a small cottage by the shore, a home owned by Jaskier’s family in Lettenhove. To help her blend in, he dyes Ciri’s hair brown, passing her off as his daughter.
But their peace is short-lived. When Nilfgaard invades Lettenhove, Jaskier sacrifices himself to ensure Ciri’s escape, allowing himself to be captured.
Not long after, Ciri and Geralt finally cross paths. Determined to rescue Jaskier, they set out together—but their journey is anything but smooth.
Ciri resents Geralt.
Jaskier rarely spoke of the witcher, and when he did, it was always with a hint of sadness. He had mentioned destiny, but never with joy. Now, as far as Ciri is concerned, Geralt is the reason Jaskier was unhappy. And she wants nothing to do with him.
