I love GBF's Draphs so much. There's something wonderful about a guy built like an ox with horns to match being able to lift a cart one-handed, and an equally bovine-like woman doing the same thing with (seemingly) less of the strength and half the size. And their size discrepancy means that any place made by a Draph will be innately accommodating to everyone. Their strength has both been a boon and a burden over the centuries, and every Draph we meet deals with that differently. They tend to have one child, and support them with an admirable unconditionalness.

Also, they drink like fishes but on the whole have incredibly highbrow tastes in wine, so there's innate tension in What Wine To Bring As Trade For Forging This Weapon. Presumably 99% of the metalwork we see was done by Draphs, whether it's weapons or the delicate, barely-visible chain of a necklace. That's quite the variety!

This isn't even getting into the plain ol' aesthetic appeal, from the obvious (boobs!) to the more subtle and cute (kid Draphs with their tiny horn stubs!). Our Style, Our Substance only made the aesthetics even better, with specific fashion for them: buttons in the back, stretchy collars, horn care and decorations? It's worldbuilding heaven. Draphs are great. ;v;

I have been thinking about Gran and Djeeta's dad. For the record, he still sucks, but it's mentioned that he knew that his child would be the Singularity. So he was probably under a lot of pressure. Imagine knowing that your child will be the most important person in the world. You're probably gonna have second thoughts about having children at all and wonder if you're attracted to someone if it's fate or your own choice. That can't be easy.

And I know it's mentioned that he fucked off to retrieve their mom, but maybe that was also his way of making sure he didn't mess up? Like, if you raise the child wrong it could easily spell doom for the entire world. Maybe you're too strict and they destroy the world out of spite? Or you're too laissez-faire and they become entitled and use their powers selfishly?

So maybe the pressure got too much and he left, leaving us with only an incentive to come find him, hoping that journeying across the skies would lead to us seeing and learning all about how wonderful the world is, to inspire us to want to protect it?

I might be giving him too much credit here, but maybe that was his hope.

while i do thin that him fucking off at the end of the skies is still bad parenting, yeah, the whole aspect of him knowing his child's fate plays a big part in all of this.

I think i also recall from the main story that it has been revealed that our father also left in the hope we /won't/ become the Singularity, he tried to hide Lyria away so we wouldn't meet her and wouldn't seal our fate, because if we did become the Singularity, he will fight us to restore the balance of the world.

And he's apparently been given the vision and the mission as well as powers from Bahamut himself, this even more of his burden in that regard

I don't know if he's hoping for us to learn the beauty of the skies in order to protect it, but it seems to me that he did leave in the hopes it could stop us from becoming the Singularity, and be ready to fight us if we become the Singularity... and i would assume he hoped that we would grow on our own to be able to withstand this fight and show him that we aren't here to put the world on the brick of destruction.

he is also indeed looking for our mom. We learn a bit about her from Walfrid as well (she was a maiden worshipping Bahamut, so she had a particular connection with him, and she grew up in the same area as our father and was set with him early on his journey). Our Dad is indeed looking for her, perhaps hoping that some thing would change.

From what i'm gathering of this behavior in my opinion, is that our father knows that the fate of the world rest on our shoulders, because we are his child and this woman's. He knows Bahamut will impose a destiny on us whatever he decides to do.

And he left to stop it, to find a way to keep us away from this destiny, to reunite with our mother probably to get answers about it, to fight us if we end up on this path still, and probably hoping that we would go through a journey to make sure we would have the strength of mind to use our fate in a positive way instead of a bad one.

And while as a father it's terrible to have abandoned his child for such a reason... as a person i can't imagine the amount of pressure it is to know a God who bestowed you a mission also set up your own child to eventually destroy the world no matter how hard you try to stop it.

I honestly don't know if our parents even had a choice to raise us in those circumstances when they were aware of the fate on our shoulders and were desperate to try to lift it away in some way.

So yeah i actually do feel bad for the guy. He's also been dealt the worst cards possible and he's probably trying to find a way to keep the skies intact while not having us being the cause of its destruction.

Eventually we'll learn more when the time comes but.. yeah...

I made a (new) Granblue Fantasy oc/sona cuz my other one was giving me the ick..! :^)

Her name is Lara and she's an exiled royal who wound up getting raised in Stardust Town alongside Tien and Feower. She's socially anxious, but tries to hide it with fake confidence and a spunky attitude.

Fun fact to give context to the second picture, Lara's a v green martial artist. When she started interacting with the Eternals and found out that Seox is the best martial artist in the skies, Lara kinda begged him to mentor her in his free time (he begrudgingly agreed).

They start to get closer after that!
