#AS IF SAYORI'S DEATH WASN'T UNCOMFORTABLE ENOUGH

Great! Officially, I'm not sleeping tonight.

WHY THE HELL DID I DECIDE TO READ THIS AT NIGHT RIGHT BEFORE GOING TO SLEEP.

So if you all aren't aware by now(I assume you are but whatever) there is a rare easter egg you can get in doki doki where the entire screen goes red with pulsating veins on the side. While this occurs the music is muffled and you start to hear this horrifying sound like flesh being ripped apart, with occasional squeaking in the background. Well I let my bf hear this easter egg and he brought up something absolutely horrifying to me and I just had to share it. So when I showed him the easter egg he was under the assumption that it was going to be the sound of flesh being ripped apart or eaten but he slowly looks at me and says "Uhm Madi...that sounds like Sayori hanging." My jaws fucking dropped man and I asked him to explain. So he said(warning for graphic detail here) that when someone hangs themselves "properly" their neck snaps. Well after they are already dead their body is obviously still hanging there...and while they hang their neck begins to slowly stretch out, because it is suddenly carrying a huge amount of dead weight. This would make a horrifying flesh stretching noise as it expands. As for the squeaking that everyone assumes is rats; while the neck is stretching any last pockets of air left in the throat is pushed out with all the force, emitting a high pitched squeaking noise. Now as we know Sayori did not fall from a great enough height meaning she instead essentially suffocated herself. This makes the sound even worse. This turns them into the sound of Sayori struggling against the rope, all of the air being sucked out of her by the tightness of the rope. This would also explain the red screen and pulsing veins; could possibly be all the pressure that might be accumulating in her brain. Would also explain the muffled music; if this is a video game and that music is going on 24/7 it wouldn't be far fetched to assume that Sayori hears it all the time, even during her death; but muffled because of all the pressure on her ears. Whichever way you look at it its fucked up.

Sayori rolled over, becoming immediately uncomfortable, she had rolled onto one of the plushies that littered her bed. Determined not to open her eyes she dug the plush out from under her ribs, jostling herself enough to give up on drifting back off. she picked up her phone, '3:14 PM' she groaned, and ran her hand over her face, the bags under her eyes felt tender.

She got out of bed, turned to consider making it for a while but decided against it. She brushed her teeth and flopped down on the couch. Her dad would already be at work by now, good, he wouldn't have anything good to say about her current state anyway, she hadn't showered in 3 days and she wasn't sure how long she'd been in these clothes. She didn't see much of him these days, ever since she graduated she's been functionally nocturnal, and he worked evenings. She would make it up to him eventually, fix her sleep schedule and spend some real time with him.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the legend of Zelda sound effect she had set as her notification bell, 'Natsuki 💕✨🧁 sent you a message: Wanna come over I'm in the mood to rewatch death note'

After her shower Sayori began her walk, conveniently Natsuki lived only a short stroll away. Natsuki's Mom let her in, Sayori always liked her girlfriend's mom, she was a sweet woman if not a little skittish. Natsuki sat with her legs crossed on her bed with a bowl of popcorn on her lap, already watching the show herself. She scooted over to leave ample room for Sayori, they shared a small kiss when she sat down before Natsuki started filling her in on what she missed.

Right before the end of the first season Sayori started to get up to pee when her sock snagged on the bed frame and she tripped, and everything went black. When she fully came to, she could feel Natsuki holding a cold wet washcloth to the spot on her forehead that ached with a sour throbbing pain, "I'm okay.." she said as she held her hand on Natsuki's, she could feel tears welling in her eyes but she tried to fight them. "You're clearly not. You ate shit." Natsuki responded, "is it bleeding?" Sayori

Asked, Natsuki lifted up the cloth and looked for a moment, "No, but it's gonna be purple." Natsuki responded and Sayori groaned. Natsuki stood up and offered a hand, “C’mon we’ll sit on the bed.”

After a few minutes of Natsuki holding up fingers and googling signs of a concussion Sayori spoke up, “Nat, I’m okay..” she tried to get up but got pushed back by her partners finger “Just let me nurse you. I have a lot of experience healing bruises fast.” They both stared at each other for a moment and silently decided to disregard that. Sayori stayed over that night, they iced her head, watched the rest of the show and it ended with falling asleep in each other’s arms.
