Victorian drag portraits, anyone?

These photos (1, 2, 3) from the James Gardiner Collection are open access and available to view on JSTOR courtesy of the Wellcome Collection.

Dating from the 1850s to 1890s, the hand-colored portraits come from a Victorian album of 35 cartes de visite showing private and theatrical female impersonation. While many of these performances were intended as entertainment, the images also gesture toward gender nonconformity and queer expression.

Each color was color-picked from a screenshot of the Rainbow Trousers shirt portion during daytime lighting for accuracy and consistency.

If you’re going to make your post inaccessible, the least you could do is not use accessibility tools at your own leisure for whatever purpose you see fit.

Accessible theme revamp

The original theme garden theme is several years old and was in need of a refresh. While the design is very similar, there are several changes to the theme options. I didn't want anyone to lose their settings, so this is a completely new version and not an update to the original.

This is much simpler to customize overall, so let me know if I should add some more of the older features into this one!
