#i keep seeing Americans being surprised at this & need to know if it's as common knowledge a i thought it was#polls#tumblr polls#TLDR for the tags: the strikes in America matter in other countries because American media is made in Canada a lot#if you didnt know btw yeah a lot of American shit was filmed in Canada#you can see it in the credits a lot but i know ppl dont watch credits#but yeah unless it's a very specific American landmark the movie is usually Canadian#easiest way is to check the bg for Tim's#second easiest way is to check the end of the credits for ''thanks to whatever local government for letting us film there''#you'll see the specific province#also yes same with games. & animation. alotta animation & game studios around here#i could go work for Disney or on the next AAA game without even leaving my city#i could also work on whatever next Netflix cartoon is being worked on#so when people are like ''i'm not from America i dont need to worry about scalping'' just remember#American companies outsource to Canada a lot because it's cheaper. & other countries too#even if you aren't American or havent been to America you can still be a scalper. you can still cross the picket line#so yeah the strikes in America actually matter in other countries#because American movies are usually only like half American#gonna go watch Spiderverse in like an hour. peace

My work in OUTCAST Zine, in which I decided to draw Canada. Fans will be able to understand why I chose him in the zine with the concept of underestimated characters, but if you are "off topic" - I'll be happy to explain. The fact is that he is unfairly given little screen time, his relationships with other characters aren't really revealed - and, in fact, how to reveal him if other countries simple don't see him? The characters are aware of his existence, even asking about him, but don't notice that Matthew is right next to them. Only a few sees Canada: Russia, America, France, his pet Kumajiro (and he often asks Canada about who he is) and Cuba. And then Cuba constantly confuses Canada with America, which he hates, as a result of which Matt gets into his address a bunch of "pleasant". Therefore isn't surprising that Canada turned into a passive aggressor thereby once literally bringing America to tears - how can you be a cute bun, if nobody see you at close range no matter what do you do? But Canada is a very resource-rich country with beautiful nature and an interesting history, and is also the world leader in the aircraft industry and the production of subway trains (and don't forget about hockey). Also, the image of this character is my kind of "cry from the heart" so the art for me was somewhat personal :"\

An important distinction here that I feel the need to point out is that this petition is specifically for production coordinators, managers and supervisors at disney to join the animation guild! While it is not CGI animators unionizing (and god knows they need it, especially in the countries where the bulk of the work gets outsourced to), production staff are still a very vital part of the pipeline. If they go on strike, it could still kill the MCU :) please go sign the petition!
CGI animators should unionize next. normally, their jobs would be too precarious to strike, since studios would replace them without a second thought, but if it's part of this larger general film strike, they might finally have meaningful power to better their working conditions
#STRIKE STRIKE STRIKE#i'm also hoping that the animation guild could organize a strike but i'm not in america so i dont know how it'll work#currently i'm a 2D animator in canada. there is no union here for us aside from unions in individual studios

Obscure Animation Subject #206: Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes
Developed by Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost and directed by Franck Michel, this is a joint production between the United States, Canada and France, based on the Fantastic Four, having been covered previously with the 1967 television series. It had 26 episodes produced by Marvel Studios and MoonScoop, airing on M6 in France, Cartoon Network in Europe and the United States and Nicktoons in the United States from September 2, 2006 to February 25, 2010. Episodes often aired out of order over the years, and was often subject to an erratic airing schedule.
The series is not directly connected to any of the previous iterations of the Fantastic Four, telling its own version of the team’s origin, and primarily features original stories, even if elements from various comic iterations of the Fantastic Four were used in the series.
The series technically ended on June 10, 2008, as before every episode aired, they were all released on a DVD known as The Complete First Season. Too bad it’s forgotten about though and ended up being cancelled.
I haven’t seen it myself so, I don’t have anything to say unfortunately.

Smash Mouth - All Star 1999
"All Star" is a song by the American rockband Smash Mouth, released as the first single from their second studio album, Astro Lounge (1999). It was one of the last tracks to be written for Astro Lounge, after the band's record label Interscope requested more songs that could be released as singles. In writing it, guitarist Greg Camp drew musical influence from contemporary music by artists like Sugar Ray and Third Eye Blind, and sought out to create an "anthem" for outcasts. In contrast to the more ska punk style of Smash Mouth's debut album Fush Yu Mang (1997), the song features a more radio-friendly style.
It received generally positive reviews from music critics, who praised its musical progression from Fush Yu Mang as well as its catchy tone. It was nominated for the Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards. Subsequent reviews from critics have regarded "All Star" favourably, with some ranking it as one of the best songs of 1999. The song charted around the world, ranking in the top 10 of the charts in Australia, Canada, and on the US Billboard Hot 100, while topping the Billboard Adult Top 40 and Mainstream Top 40 charts.
The song's accompanying music video features characters from the 1999 superhero film Mystery Men, which itself prominently featured "All Star". The song became ubiquitous in popular culture following multiple appearances in films, most notably in DreamWorks Animation's 2001 film Shrek. It received renewed popularity in the 2010s as an internet meme and has ranked as one of the most-streamed rock songs from 2017 to 2021 in the US. In June 2019, the music video was remastered in high definition and received subtitles in commemoration of its 20th anniversary. By that point, it had received over 219 million views on Youtube. In 2020, The New York Times listed the song as #1 in their top ten climate change songs.
"All Star" received a total of 90,9% yes votes!
