he keeps a photograph of you in his wallet. not naked. not posing. not even smiling. you’re in the hallway, coat half off, mid-sentence, annoyed about something. he took it without asking. printed it. folded it once, dead center. kept it.

he doesn’t touch himself to it. he doesn’t even look at it often. but when he does... it’s when he’s wrecked. when a kid codes. when a vet comes in missing a leg like his, bleeding all over the trauma bay. he closes the door. pulls the photo out. presses his forehead to it like it might pulse.

when he finally comes home, he finds you, quiet, waiting, still dressed from the day. he doesn’t say much. just walks in, drops his keys, and crosses the room like he’s been holding his breath since the last time he saw you. he backs you against the wall, or maybe the edge of the bed, whatever’s closest, whatever can hold the weight.

he doesn’t bother undressing you fully. doesn’t undress himself either. your underwear’s pushed to the side, his scrubs tugged just low enough. one hand stays firm on your hip, steadying you like he needs to feel something solid. like if you shift even an inch, the whole thing might break. his other hand is on your cheek, or your jaw, or threaded into your hair, forehead pressed to yours, breathing rough and uneven, like he’s barely holding it together.

“don’t move. please, don’t move.”

and it’s not a command. it’s not about control. it’s desperation. like if you move, it’ll be over. like if you move, he might fall apart. it’s grief. it’s I’m barely here and you’re the only thing keeping me tethered.

and after, he wipes between your legs like he’s dressing a wound. kisses the inside of your knee. pulls your shirt down gently, quietly. like he’s trying to put the moment back into your body so it doesn’t leave with him.

because jack abbot doesn’t need it rough or loud or vindicating. he needs it to matter.

and he needs you to not know how badly it does.

Thanks to everyone who came to see me at yesterday's New Dorp Comic Con on my home turf of Staten Island. I had a wonderful time, and appreciated seeing everyone, not to mention all the lovely fan art and the nice gift bag of Japanese snacks (and a pair of Crayon Shin-chan chopsticks, which I will definitely be using). I was very surprised by the turnout and didn't have a moment to myself the entire time, which is the way you want a con to go. At least that's how I like them to go, I can have a moment for myself when I get home. A log moment, preferably in front of a horror movie with my cat on my lap. Or reading. Or asleep.

Better late than never, sorry I've been away for so long and I know it's been over a month since the MHA manga officially ended but work's been... stressful, to say the very least, and drawing hasn't really been on the top of my list for a while. Now here in Chile we're having a full on week holiday to celebrate Chile's national holiday so I'll post a few things I've been postponing over prioritizing my mental health lately 😅. Plus, I've missed drawing quite a lot.
