Blues in A - Backing Track

Hey Everybody

People have been asking me for quite a while if I would produce backing tracks for them to practice and jam along to. So here’s my first attempt, a mid-tempo (104 bpm) swing shuffle in the key of A.

I chose this key to start, as for guitar players, this key can be played in the middle of the neck. From there the music can lead up or down the neck from there, which is pretty cool fun when you get the hang of it.

As an idea, try playing and only using two or three notes and see what you can come up with - you may surprise yourself!

If you’re stuck getting started, try the mixolydian pentatonic or major scales in A. If it sounds right, keep it. If it doesn’t, throw it out. Play what sounds good to you and makes you feel good.

This backing track is also intended for singers and harmonica players alike to strut their stuff! So have a go and let me know what you think in the comments section.

And feel free to let me know what you would like me to upload next, whether it be slow blues, fast shuffle, boogie or whatever you’re looking for. I’ll have a crack at it for you.

Lemon Drop 9.5/10

Love the distorted voice in the backingtrack

MATZ opening the song -

Love the instrumental really sets the vibe

MINGI "focus on me" - Me "yes sir"

Woo with the pre chorus

"Stay up all night till Sunrise" - Doing what????!!!!

The chorus is sexy , but like chill sexy

Joongs rap being quite whiney love love love

Has a nice chill club vibe to the song

The ending mirroring the start is nice

Masterpiece 8/10

"Come on come on come on" - harmonies, beautiful opening to the song

"Take it take it" - the song is so blatantly about sex 😏

Yunhos high note on yeah

"Ride into the night" - dear god I don't want to see the korean lyrics translated if this is what the English ones are like

Yeo's voice 🥺❤️

I love joong's tone when he raps. It's so unique

I feel like this song blends their voices really well. They all complement each other and really fit the vibe of the song

Mingi whisper 🥵

The song has a nice chill vibe, no crazy belts or octave changes just a comfortable feel.

Now this house in't a home 10/10

The instrumental at the beginning I really like

Love yeo's vocal tone

"Mothers to daughters who doesn't know their fathers" is one hell of a line

Ethereal vibe from the instrumental, this song makes me want to go on a drive in the middle of the night with no set destination

Sans voice

Yeos voice

Woo's melodic song/rap bit has a lovely rhythm to it

The emotion of the song come out really clearly, even without looking at the lyrics you feel the meaning behind it

The 2 layer harmony at the end with I think san and yeo *chefs kiss*

I feel like this songs is Yeosangs song

Castle 8.5/10

Tape being rewound sound at the start - nostalgic vibe

Very chill vibe overall to the song

The woo -> San -> Yunho part goes so nicely

Nice synth

Yeah Fix On - let's go Mingi

I love the contrast between Mingi and Joong when they rap it makes me think of I.M. and Jooheon from Monsta X

The backing adlibs in the chorus 😍

Oh the bridge

Mingi's raspy voice 🥵❤️

Feels like your in a film

Very dystopian feeling

Great build up

Morse code sounding bit before the crescendo

General Thoughts

Average ranking of songs in the mini album 9/10

This was my first ATZ comeback since I took a break from kpop around 2020

Overall has a more cohesive feel than the other parts of the GH series

I really enjoy the vibe of the whole mini album - which surprised me as I tend to prefer heavier sounding songs like guerilla, crazy form and bouncy

However I like the route the boys took with this as I feel like it does encapsulate the feeling of summer very well and I think they've shown a huge amount of diversity in generes across the whole series

I think all the instrumentals are gorgeous and their voices meld beautifully and make the songs feel interconnected and harmonious

My favourite song is now this house ain't a home

It has a melancholy and nostalgic atmosphere which is something I really enjoy

The stand out members in this release to me are yeo and woo - I know yeo doesn't have many lines in lemon Drop and a lot of people think the line distribution is being unfair to him which I agree however I will say I think they finally know how to work with his voice and take advantage of how nice and rich and warm his tone is without only using his lower register. Yeosang's voice in this house ain't a home stuck with me the most I think it conveys the emotion perfectly.

Woo as well I think has really come into his own vocally with a distinct tone and flavour when he sings especially since releasing Sagittarius
