Y’all … I seriously have a problem.
Since the whole cancer thing, I have felt a huge need to simplify my life and I had sold some stuff recently so had some room to organize and I’m looking at that cabinet in the first picture then started thinking about all the rest and I’m like “My girls are not going to want all this. It’s just too much!”
And this doesn’t even include the green glass on my dining room table or the Ruby and Cobalt glass I sold at auction. I NEED TO PURGE but I am the worst purger.
So first pic upper shelf - my great grandmother’s Amber Depression glass plates. (1933-1937) we always called them Thanksgiving plates because they were only brought out at Thanksgiving. She treasured these plates. So they’re not going anywhere
2nd shelf - my husband’s grandmother’s Iris & Herringbone pattern glass, made between 1928 and 1932 so almost 100 years old. Only a few pieces were actually hers, the rest I’ve picked up here and there over the years. We use the pitcher a lot, but not much else. I don’t think he’d care if I sold them.
Bottom shelf are wine glasses my daughters bought me one year for Christmas and cobalt glasses that match my Nana’s China.
2nd picture - various barware cuz I’m insane and like my martini in a martini glass, margarita in a margarita glass, champagne in a champagne flute. Maybe I should just stop drinking! Oh and the crystal goblets were a gift from his mom and I swear she looks for them whenever she visits.
Pics 3&4 - my collection of Early American Prescut Glass. Only dates back to the 1960s but we use this stuff a lot, gatherings, every holiday, especially Christmas. Wouldn’t get rid of this.
#5 various crystal pieces from my wedding, mother, and both grandmas. More EAPG. Plus stuff that likely came in box lots at an auction where I was really going for something else in the box. I’d really have a tough time remembering what came from the grandmas at this point!
And lastly, my small collection of original FIREKING Philibe glass bakeware. (1941-1956) It’s this pretty almost-not-there light blue color that I love but honestly I only use 2 pieces consistently. And the only piece that belonged to my husband’s grandmother has a crack in it. This stuff goes for pretty good $$ on eBay too. Sooooooo…
Oh gawd. I just thought about all the glassware out in the secret neighborhood bar too. There’s even more. I need an intervention!!!
