Surprise: More WIP Jade Falcons.
Someday I'll be completely done with the three CJF lists I built for our local campaign. But that day is not today.
L-to-R: Kraken (Bane), Black Lanner, Phoenix Hawk IIC.

There's no definitive...
...recipe for Pilot Slop, but here's a decent one as they go.
2-3 average-sized zucchinis
2 fist-size onions
Your preferred cooking oil
Seasonings of your choice
Pot
Blender (immersion or otherwise) or food processor
Start off with the onions and a drop of oil in the pot. You want the onions cut to maybe the size of the head of your thumb; not tiny, not huge, just a plain dice.
Cook them until they're browned and reduced in size, then add the zucchini. It ought to be cut in about the same size. Cook them both covered on medium heat; test every five minute or so. When the zucchini flesh is sort of pale and soft, it's time for the next step.
First, shake on your seasonings. A little touch of pepper and dill can go a very long way with these, but you could use anything you please. Take your mix and load it into the blender/food processor, or if you're using a hand blender, load the blender into it for a change. From there, nothing to it but revving it until you've got a mostly-liquid-ish mix. Think something a bit like tomato sauce in consistency. (For a thicker consistency, try a few spoonfuls of flour blended in to give it more body.)
The perfect complement is, of course, some crusty, well-buttered garlic bread, but crumbs in the cockpit are one sure-fire way to be hunted down by an angry mob of mechtechs, so that's at your own risk.
Pilot Slop: a thermos of the stuff can keep you nicely through a dull night-watch patrol, but few would call it high dining.

This may be helpful if you haven't seen it yet:
youtube
I highly recommend all the Tex Talks Battletech videos if you want to get a handle on the background and tone of the setting. Even the mech-specific videos are great, because they go into the history around the creation and usage of each specific mech rather than just "here's how many guns they have!"
Playing Mechwarrior again, I am surprised at how many war crimes my mercenary company is doing.
I suppose it comes with the territory, but the tone of the writing is sort of all over the place. One day we are raiding civilians on behalf of space pirates, and the next we are defending democracy. After that, we participate in an unprovoked invasion of a peaceful planet. We destroy their generators in hopes of blacking out a mega-city and forcing their surrender. Now we have joined a rebellion in the name of national self-determination.
Pretty much every faction is some form of oligarchy. I recognize Space Japan and Space China, but I don't know enough about the Lore to get a fix on the other factions. Canopus is lesbians though so they're cool.

"3024, actually. Been a long time. Lots of fun adventures."
"I suppose fun is a word you could use," Corax chuckles.
"Well, finding the Dobrev and Moderbjörn was fun, right?"
"Fighting alongside Natasha Kerensky and getting to beat up the Bounty Hunter at the same time? I suppose that was fun. Plus you got your Bull Shark out of it," Corax muses.
"That I did."
"Though I would argue Weldry was more fun," Melissa said. "Getting to actually use our proper 'Mechs for the first time."
"You mean to say 'wailing on Periphery troops with OmniMechs'," Savannah chuckled.
"Aff."
"You ripped both legs off that Highlander IIC of yours because you kept doing Highlander Burials on every 'Mech you found."
"Like I said, it was fun. And we fixed the 'Mech later, after we found the Nest. So there is nothing to complain about."
"Yang threw a wrench at your head."
"He missed."
22:00; Helios System; Nadir Jump Point
Bursts of exotic particles begin materializing, the emergence signature of several incoming jumps. Hours later, over a dozen Sea Fox vessels materialize in a synchronized jump. Dropships detach, reorient themselves, and begin their weeklong burn toward the planet. HPG transmissions are sent to the SLDF staging grounds ahead of them.
[SLDF Command, this is Sea Fox 5th transport cluster. We are bringing your supply drop of ammo, replacement armor, food, and medical supplies. We are also escorting FCS Shandra to the primary landing zone. She is being very insistent that Commander General Hazen be informed and try to schedule a rendezvous.]
—-------
[One Week Later, SLDF Primary Starport]
The aged, battered, and rebuilt frame of the Union dropship recently reclassified as IDS Rookery touched down with practiced ease on the fusion torch of its landing drive. From the outside, the armor paneling and exterior equipment had all been recently replaced and refitted. A stark white paint job was interrupted only by a logo of a raven perched atop a partial red SLDF star and some minor reentry scorching.
The main bay door opens smoothly, exposing the interior to the air of Helios for the first time. Within, a Timber Wolf, quickly identifiable as the D configuration, stands, almost eager to step forward. The old machine is painted in what appears to be Wolf’s Dragoons livery as it steps out onto the reinforced tarmac and then to the side so as not to block the ramp.
As several mover vehicles begin bringing their covered cargoes out of the dropship's back, a figure clutched to the top of the Timber Wolf scans the area. "Not even a little fanfare? How disappointing."
