🐇 Deuce Spade Easter Headcanons 🐇
In light of it being Easter Sunday, I decided to compile a list of Easter themed headcanons for our local baby chick boy
Also, quick word of warning - I’ve never celebrated Easter before so I deeply apologise if any of this is offensive. I just thought that the whole aesthetic of chicks, eggs and bunnies would go really well with Deuce and wanted to write about that

Since Spring has sprung, you decided to tell Deuce about a holiday from your world and him being the sweetheart he is, wanted to recreate it with you here in Twisted Wonderland
🐣 Imagine decorating Easter eggs with him, just having a blast in Ramshackle, with old newspapers covering the surface of the dining table and a bunch of paints spread out. Deuce takes this very seriously, scrunching his nose up in concentration as a shaky hand carefully applies paint to each egg. You did have a wonderful time coming up with different designs but then Ace got wind of your little date and whined about you playing favourites (“Of course, she’s playing favourites - I’m her boyfriend!”) so the next day your entire first year squad (+ Ortho) all decided to decorate Easter eggs so you ended up with a range of colourful mismatched eggs that were worth their weight in gold.
🐣 MATCHING EASTER THEMED OUTFITS. Like obviously you’d have chick themed outfits but imagine also bunny themed outfits as well with him. Of course, you have to deal with Leona’s teasing about how you look even more like a herbivore now but you kind of predicted that. Also, you send every single picture that you take of you and Deuce to his mother (that you are having constant conversations with) and whilst Deuce is so unbelievably happy that his two favourite people are getting along so well, he could do with a little less gushing about him.
🐣 Speaking of Easter outfits, imagine making Easter bonnets together, using a hot glue gun to stick on little bits and bobs like tiny chicks, bunnies and fake flowers
🐣 You handmake him homemade chocolates that are shaped like little baby chicks and bunnies. He loves them so much that he doesn’t even want to eat them, only to get slapped on the head by Ace for being a whipped idiot
🐣 You, Deuce and the rest of the first (minus Jack) totally don’t get food comas from eating too many chocolate eggs at once, by the way
🐣 You already have a habit of making him cute bento boxes or adorable looking omurice dishes, but you decided to go the extra mile and put little chick figurines inside each one. Deuce feels like he’s going to cry - he loves you so much.
🐣 You get him a bunch of those wind up chick toys - the bright eyed smile on his face outshined the sun
🐣 You organise an Easter egg hunt inside Ramshackle, consisting of chocolate eggs, the eggs you decorated and plastic eggs with little toys inside and let the first years go wild
🐣 The two of you go on dates to petting zoos so that you could hang around with actual chicks and bunnies in a safe environment and also go on picnics in the park where you feed nearby ducks (not bread. Bread is not a safe food for ducks to eat.)

Spring has officially sprung! While the temperatures are still mostly cool in my area, a highly anticipated event in Japan has already begun. For the first time in three years due to the coronavirus outbreak, Japanese parks are open for the annual cherry blossom festival.
In Japan, the ancient tradition of enjoying the beautiful but ephemeral blossoms of cherry trees is called hanami, which literally means “flower viewing.” Today, people from across Japanese society congregate under the cherry trees to informally enjoy food, drink, and perhaps music with family, friends, or coworkers while sitting on plastic sheets or picnic mats spread upon the ground.
Customary foods include bento box lunches, hanami dango (sweet tricolored dumplings), and sakura mochi, an iconic confection of pink sticky rice filled with red bean paste and covered with a pickled cherry leaf.
In some locations, the trees are lit with floodlights or lanterns when darkness falls, and the party goes on well into the night. This is called yozakura, or “night sakura.”
This event typically begins in late March to early April, though this year there have been several reports of early blooms. I hope to one day see this festival, but for now, Kiku will enjoy it! She's staked out a spot to gaze at the delicate pink and white flowers, and she's enjoying some sakura treats as well (including the dango)!

FEATURE: Cooking With Anime - Sangria from "Piacevole"
Howdy everyone! I come to you as a new woman! Spring has sprung here in California (mostly), I've just signed a lease for my own apartment next year (on my own!!! So exciting!!), and I finally bought an onigiri mold for any onigiri dreams I wish to fulfil moving forward in life.
Best of all, I found this anime, Piacevole, which I've seen pictures from for the past couple of weeks. It took me absolutely too long to realize it was from a show we have here on Crunchyroll, so when I made this startling discovery, I threw myself into it wholeheartedly. The show is about a girl who gets a part-time job at an Italian trattoria, and she knows nothing about Italian food. Thus commences her daily life at work in the restaurant. It's a simple show- nothing too fancy or contrived. It's your basic slice-of-life at a restaurant, but each episode is only 4-5 minutes, just enough to give you a taste of this girl's life without pounding the mundanities into your brain until your eyes start to bleed (No? Does that only happen to me? Awkward.).
The show is cute, and light-hearted, but actually some of the food, like the sangria we're making today is from a culture other than Italian. So, in terms of accuracy and calling it an Italian trattoria...it's not exactly right, but I also don't think that's too much of a problem. When cultures intermingle, traditional food recipes are one of the first and best things to get twisted around. This definitely comes into play here when they feature a "fried spring roll caponata", which actually sounds amazing. A caponata is a kind of sweet and sour vegetable dish, and so the recipe in the anime puts that mixture into a spring roll, making an awesome fusion of Chinese and Italian cuisine!
I'm seriously thinking about doing other recipes from this show, but I'm focusing on sangria this week, because I think we need a toast! I recently hit 500 subscribers on YouTube, which is weird and cool! I also thought that it would be nice to keep with the Spanish theme, since I did Spanish Omelette last week. The sangria featured here follows a typical recipe with an unusual addition: In the anime, they used some whole, fresh rosemary to flavor the drink, which I'd never seen before. I decided to give it a try, and was really pleasantly surprised by the addition the rosemary gave to the wine/brandy/orange juice mixture. It elevated it to something a little more refined than typical sangria, a little more nuances, and I think this version would actually pair very nicely with steak. Best of all, sangria is easy to make! For best results, let sit together for a few hours before serving, but you can also just go for it right as soon as you're done making it! Like I did...and kept doing...until the whole thing was gone...
Anyway, I mentioned I'm doing a giveaway! This is not affiliated with Crunchyroll, it's just something I'm doing for the people who watch my YouTube videos as a thanks for so many subs! I placed in a bento box making competition a couple of years ago, and they sent me baout 20 bento boxes, among other things, as a prize. I really, really don't need 20 bento boxes, so I wanted to share some with you guys so that you can try making delicious food for yourself in cute boxes! And the Sand de Panda is just an absolute CLASSIC sandwich making item, so if you're not into boxed lunches you can have fun playing with that.
