Ok, so I know this is probably just a shitpost, but I took two classes on lighting design and want to info dump.

People do not realize exactly how important the lighting of environments is to define the mood of the room, specifically warm vs cold white lights. Our bodies are tuned to the sun with something called circadian rhythms.

When the sun rises, it is actually generally a colder type of white light. This signals our body to release chemicals that help to wake us up, which is also why spaces where people want you to be awake (like classrooms or hospitals, those sorts of places) will install colder lights.

In contrast, as the sun sets, the light is warmer, which signals to our body to begin to relax and get ready to sleep.

And this is why using screens with large amounts of blue light right before going to bed is bad for your sleep cycle. You are signaling your body to remain awake, then expect yourself to be able to suddenly fall asleep. You can reduce this effect by using the night mode most devices have that turn the screen to a warmer colour, but that’s not perfect.

In conclusion, we did not evolve that way because of candles, the light produced by candles just has a tendency to mimic the effect caused by the sun later in the day.

*blowing out my little bedside tealight, putting away my phone, and drifting off to sleep with one last dozzy thought of gratitude to blue light screen filters, only to jolt awake because wait shit did humans evolve that way because of candles???

As the most well known meta in Gotham, Signal was used to dealing with awkwardness. There were the people who were awkward/rude because of his skin tone, those who were awkward/rude due to his status as a meta, and people who were awkward/rude due to his status as a vigilante.

However, this was the first time someone was flustered around him in the suit due to his attractiveness.

It didn’t help that both the guy’s friends and the rest of the Batfam were teasing them over comms.

Tucker is just trying desperately not to say anything about how hot Signal is.
